Meat is now so expensive and that also includes Chicken meat and Pork. Most of the people here in our province told me that it is because of the people buying people's pigs and bringing them to cities or rural places and to be sold there. Our province now are having a low source of meat which also means having a high value these days. Being in a pandemic, this would be really hard for the people.

Recently there were incidents of African swine fever and bird flu in several countries, which necessitated mass culling of domestic pigs and poultry. This might have pushed the prices up, by a certain amount (due to scarcity). But overall, the growth in meat prices have been very low when compared to the other assets. Most of the meat production now happens in industrial scale facilities and this has made meat more affordable to consumers.

This price movements of meat might be low to you but for a poor province like us, this is insane. The price increased $1 - $2 per measure, that is too much for most of the families. Most of the families are also affected especially those with stores or food chains which always buys meat like pork and chicken which also means affecting their consumers.

I have always said that the hunger that exists in the world, the increase in food prices, as well as the shortage of these products for all the inhabitants of the planet, these problems are created artificially. I am sure that the government benefits from the combination of circumstances that exist at the moment in order to control the relevant sectors with the help of these problems.

In my country the situation is similar. All product prices doubled, meat and fish prices increased around 30%, people have huge debts, live in credit and have no money to pay for community facilities, government do nothing to provide solution of peoples problems but enhance Covid-19 quarantine conditions. 2020 was the worsted year ever. Hope 2021 will be better. Undecided

I don't see that problem being "artificial". With the pandemic happening, most of the people are stacking up their food so that they will be able to last for days inside the house without going out. Most of the rural places are short when it comes to food resources the reason the demand for food is increasing. As jobs at that time are not as normal, the sources of foods are not that many. The reason some people buy other meat from other places which also means slowly depleting that place food which makes other food expensive.

In my country (Ukraine) prices for vegetables and basic foodstuffs have increased. At the same time, meat (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, ...) and fish (salmon, trout, salmon, and local fish) almost did not change in price.

Yes. Prices for meat and fish prices practically did not change. Now prices for dairy products have skyrocketed. Soon milk will be equal to meat. Now I bought 1 liter of milk, 200 grams of butter and 400 grams of cottage cheese, counting I bought 1 kg of meat.

Depends on the country whether they can produce basic things or import them. Since my country can produce all basic needs from agricultural, livestock, and fishery products so that the price remains affordable without a significant increase, if there are some products whose prices are soaring, namely health commodities.

When i have time i go to local market to check prices

Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...

And my country  is a exporter of food products

How is it in your country ? Same ?

My country is Romania

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-10/food-supply-fears-are-growing-as-romania-bans-grain-exports

We tried to ban exports of grain ,but stupid EU intervened...

You'd be surprised that your country is not the only county facing these problems. Several countries especially in Africa experience these problems, I'm sure even more than Romania.
I think the primary reason for this is that governments of these countries do not give priority to Agriculture and as such food production is hard as farmers face limited funds, resources and support from the government which leads to low output. In order to meet up production cost, they have to increase the prices of goods. The price in turn continues to increase as it moves down the supply chain. You can imagine how much it'd be by the time it gets to the consumer.

In my opinion, food price increases or other things will occur every year with different increases and will return to normal, and in the country where I live, price increases will occur when the big day approaches, even up to three times.
and besides that the weather climate also affects the increase in basic needs, especially agricultural cultivation, and there are several other problems that cause all basic needs, meat and so on to increase and all of which have causes including pandemic problems.

It is also same with your country. This pandemic, here in my country the people don't know how to earn money because the government make a decision that people need to stay at home for the safety. But the problem, food here is very expensive, it costs twice. Especially the meat, vegetables and the travel expenses cost high. That's affects too much in our economy.

My country is Philippines.

My country is Philippines.

At this time of the year, I think that the line, "to stay at home for safety" is quite outdated these days. There are a lot of people that still go outside even though they are not working, even children are going outside and even not following the health protocols, and the mistakes of the government about the decisions they are making are also a problem. Right now, foods are expensive, travelling is expensive and people can't even afford to go to town.

They just don't care because they think they are strong and can't be effected by covid-19.

Travelling is expensive in my country because we need to pay extra money for "Swab test", swab test is like checking our body got effected by covid / not.

Btw, im from Indon.

I would like to say that the prices of many items in the market have risen, not just food prices, but many other daily necessities. This has something to do with the private printing of money by central banks. There is too much money in the market. This will make us live with currency inflation.

As far as I know, some people are also required to take these tests if they are going out of town. The problem though is that most of them don't care and just do what they want as long as they can do whatever they wanted. They don't care whether they'll carry the virus, but when they actually have them, they will be blaming the government and the system.

In my country (Ukraine) prices for vegetables and basic foodstuffs have increased. At the same time, meat (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, ...) and fish (salmon, trout, salmon, and local fish) almost did not change in price.

I wonder why, but i guess its because demand for meat and fish (expensive food & usually for industrial food) is decreased so much when the supply still on the same amount.
Same here, some of food price is increased when the other is not (especially if that kind of food are imported from another country).

The national currency in Ukraine gets devaluated very frequently and that is one of the reasons why the food prices are going up there. Back in 2014, the exchange rate was 1 USD = 8 UAH. As a result of devaluation of the Hryvnia, this exchange rate now stands at 1 USD = 28 UAH. So naturally food items which used to be priced at 8 UAH in 2014 would be costing at least 28 UAH now. The same can be said about the other weak national currencies as well, such as the Russian Ruble and the Pakistani Rupee.

One way or another, it is worth noting that last year, for example, $ 10 could buy more products than this year. if any national currency is compared with the dollar, then even in dollar terms, prices have risen. Of course, over the past year, problems have increased due to internal quarantine and international isolation of all countries.

To make the picture real and objective - I will also ask you to add to your post - the reasons for the devaluation from UAH 8 / dollar to UAH 28 / dollar?
Also, do not forget to say that the income level of citizens has also increased. For example - in 2011 the rate was 5 UAH / dollar, my basic income level (as a CIO) was 15,000 UAH. In 2014, the rate was already 12 UAH / dollar, my income was 32,000 UAH, now the income in this position is offered on the market from 50,000 UAH to 120,000 UAH.
But what are the reasons for the jump in inflation in 2014, be sure to give real arguments for the reasons for this event, otherwise it looks like manipulation. If you do not answer and add clarifications, I will do it ....
PS. By the way, the inflation of the ruble has the same roots as the inflation in Ukraine in 2014, but as if "from the other side" - study history Smiley

Government increment the rate of certain nourishments and other areas yet stable because of their flexibly and demand  The Covid-19 exceptionally sway on our economy and shut a bunches of business and a large number of us lost our jobs.
At any rate, we ought not to frustrate since I accept these all are brief and everything becomes normal after a few months. I hope next year brings something special to the world, especially for the bitcoin community.

We can't lose hope, as it's the only thing that we all have now after this pandemic.

We are looking forward as we continue accepting all those changes from our daily lifestyle, a lots of businesses are being close and now we are already seeing some to comeback and reopen, establishments who are now being open are surviving from this set up, hopefully after this year we will see much better economy not that the same before covid but much better than from when covid hits up.
