Yeah, that's crazy; our country's food prices have risen by 100%, making it extremely difficult to buy food these days due to the pandemic. Because of the unemployed and closed businesses, inflation has been rising since the pandemic. Food demand is also increasing. Also, in terms of food transportation, it takes weeks for food to arrive, resulting in an inability to meet the demand of the people.
It's very natural that this could happen because of the effects of the lockdown that made it happen. and we can't do much about it as long as this virus is still around and it is possible that prices for both primary and secondary needs will continue to rise if this virus has not completely disappeared. the most possible effort to prevent this from continuing is to implement a healthy living system and take care of yourself and the people in your environment to avoid this virus and provide information for people who are still not obedient to the rules to immediately follow the protocol. you so that this virus and pandemic disappear completely.

Overall inflation can be 5% or lower, but the inflation specific to food prices can be higher than that. You can check this table, for the inflation rate related to various sectors in the United States: https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.t01.htmOverall, for the month of July, the inflation rate was 0.5% (or 5.4% on YoY basis). However, there is wide variation by different sectors. The YoY inflation rate for various expenditure categories are as follows: Fuel oil: 41.2% Motor fuel: 41.6% Food: 3.4% Apparel: 4.2% Alcoholic beverages: 2.4% You can see which sector is driving the overall inflation.

During the epidemic, the decline in production naturally led to a general increase in prices. Labor costs will also rise, so if the cost is high, the price will also rise. When the epidemic was at its worst, I would go out to buy things every two or three days, and every time I would buy things that I needed for many days. This has brought uncertainty to my future, leading me to buy a lot of daily necessities and food, especially masks, at higher prices than before. More than ten times higher.

When the pandemic caused many business and production units to stop due to high operational costs and no income, especially in my country, where disasters often occur, causing the prices of basic commodities to skyrocket, we hope that the pandemic will end soon.

Under the impact of the economic recession and the subsequent recovery, there was strong inflation. Not only food but also real estate and construction materials have skyrocketed in price. We are entering a new super cycle so everything is bullish.
The same thing happened in my country, all needs have increased since the pandemic, many companies went bankrupt so that the unemployment rate increased dramatically, in my country the price of food, fruit and vegetables rose by more than 20% especially now that it is the dry season so food prices will continue to skyrocket. The pandemic is ongoing and the costs associated with food distribution are increasing. People have little opportunity to access cheap agricultural products but have to depend on the supply of distribution sales units. It is these costs that have caused food prices to rise rapidly. During the pandemic, companies are forced to increase prices to cover other costs so that businesses do not lose money. Severe hot weather also makes farming difficult. Another factor is the supply chain changes and difficulties leading to price fluctuations. I believe that once the price of food goes up, it will be hard for them to drop in price.

For me the food prices have gone up but not as much as for you. To double is way too much and I would be stuck eating cheaper foods.
Biggest increases in food that I had to over come was on grains and rice but oddly poultry did not go up and either did meats.
The general increase in price of food items depends on your geological resistance. I can see that you pointed out only increase in rice, perhaps its the most consume grain in your place. My country says otherwise. It's everything that's selling on the market that has added price, the vegetables aren't excluded. The rate of consumption in this is also high with equally low in production. Did I also mention industrial, it's also low, hence our dependent on importation is also high that's we depend too much on import materials.

I live in a village, on the slopes of a mountain and this is what happened in my village during the pandemic. The conditions in most cities in our country are, hotels are empty of visitors, many restaurants are closed, if they are open their operating hours are shorter, food stalls are empty of buyers, the middle-class economy on average changes their lifestyle more efficiently. It's not magic and it's not magic. The price of agricultural crops is in free fall, a drop of minus 100%, some even more. So no increase in food prices.

Not very surprising. A lot of people have lost their jobs (especially in the unorganized sector), and they have cut down on their expenses. Even in the selection of food, the preference is now for less expensive stuff. And this impact is more in the village areas, since very few of the population would be having formal jobs. Those who have formal jobs will be protected against job loss and salary reduction to some degree, at least temporarily. That is not the case with those who work in the informal sector.

I don't think this pandemic will have a big impact on the prices of agricultural products, there may be a big harvest in other areas and cause the prices of farmers' crops in your village to drop drastically. On the other hand, this pandemic has actually made many people like vegetables because they are affordable and to increase immunity.

Every countries face the hard time because of covid19. The inflation and economic problems become one of the biggest impacts from pandemic. Food price doubled this year because that is the main need of human being. Everyone need food but the food storage cannot fulfill the demand. Quarantine is also the reason, people needs job and business right now are limited.

All tourism entrepreneurs will close if the end of this year the restrictions continue. Up to thousands of workers all at home. This is indeed a very difficult situation. I hope this pandemic passes quickly. The pandemic causes a lot of problems, but the government's excessive attitude towards the pandemic actually creates more problems, I think the best way is not to care about the pandemic, there are no social restrictions, the healthy are free to do activities and the sick are treated if dead then buried.

Yes, it's all because of the pandemic we're now dealing with; food production rates have slowed, so expect supply to become scarce and prices to rise. Because so many people are still dying as a result of COVID-19, it's hard to return to a regular manufacturing rate while there are still cases every day. Not caring about the epidemic won't assist you because we're all affected, and some of us are still recovering from last year's lockdown; many businesses have closed, making what you're saying impossible now.

Agreed, and those who have been affected by the business closure are pleading for assistance because they don't have enough money to buy food and are relying solely on the government because they can't go outside to find another source of income. It is extremely difficult right now, and the government is also having difficulty because the economy is not fully open. If we have extra money, food, or other resources, we should simply help each other.

Government is doing everything they can to addressed and to fight the covid virus but with people like you? yeah they will never won this fight and besides the virus will continuously spread.

Which government attitude do you think is excessive? Wearing a mask and keeping a distance is a rule that is applied all over the world. maybe the vaccination in your country has not yet reached the target set so that the government in your country is still implementing very strict rules. After 70% of the population has been vaccinated everything will return to normal.

Yes, currently food prices are still increasing in my country although some agricultural and aquatic products are cheaper due to the import and export freeze due to covid 19. In particular, I doubt that we have risk of a famine if the covid-19 situation persists for a long time. The lack of basic necessities causes prices to escalate, hyperinflation is coming very close. That's the worry

In particular, I doubt that we have risk of a famine if the covid-19 situation persists for a long time. The lack of basic necessities causes prices to escalate, hyperinflation is coming very close. That's the worry If the export ban is there, then the farmers will suffer. They will be forced to sell their produce at low rates, since there will be an oversupply at the local markets. This will keep the prices low for the consumers, but in the long run will do more harm than good. If the farmers incur losses, then in the future they will scale down the production, or form cabals to ensure higher prices. IMO, the government should not intervene in free market. Import/export bans make no sense in the 21st century, and they are ineffective.

Hopefully, this disaster passes quickly and we can get through it safely. Stay healthy and respect each other. Try to always have positive thoughts, because if we think too much about current conditions, then we will be more stressed, when our stress levels are higher, then this will also affect the body's immunity, making us more vulnerable to attacks by many diseases, including cov19. As long as we are healthy and take care of each other, I believe the economic condition will improve.

Deal with the reality and stick out into your plans and be relaxed even though the situation or the current events or happenings on the world is something that cant just be ignored. Even if this pandemic didnt really happen but still it would really be stopped on making those goods or needs to increase their price as per years going then this is something that can really be a shocking thing. Food becomes expensive and so as with other supplies since everything do really increased in price which its understandable that they would do such thing too. Business is business and its normal that they would really need to compensate.
