I have seen similar stuff in other places as well and I can say that it is certainly a way to attract customers. Gamblers love to leave it to chance, I used to think that gamblers prefer it when they can do strategies, but in a game where there is no strategy involved, or at least bare minimum (like slots) people feel more comfortable.
