Until they find someone who could replace Paysafe, they wont be supporting EUR. I've asked their support, if this warning is related only regards purchases (purchases with card) only, and they have told me that I wont be able to withdraw EUR from ATM either. Technically, from October 31 this card will become useless everywhere where EUR is a major currency.

Previously (this summer) Binance told that this Paysafe situation will affect only EUR deposits. But not it affect EUR in general. First I have thought to test whether USD ATM withdrawals gonna work, as we have ATMs that offer EUR and USD withdrawals, but has dropped that idea. Who knows what Binance will come up with next month.

What does Paysafe have to do with the card?

Paysafe is a payment gateway for Binance, the cards are issued by Contis, they are not related at all, besides, even the balance on the cards was a bit meaningless since they were using their internal settlement for it, you could have paid with USDT or Doge, the final fx is between Contis and the receiving bank. It's either that the guy at support are not really knowing anything or Binance is hiding a larger clusterfuck right now and it only releases one tiny bit of bad news at a time, they didn't lose just Paysafe they lost completely the ability to settle euro balances so somebody else has also pulled the plug.

Just two months ago they cheered on getting Paysafe to deal with SEPA transfers, again not settlements, when the GPB went down, now what is this?

But anyhow...

/s

EDIT:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132044.msg62919217#msg62919217

Exactly what I was saying: (google translate)

Quote
Credit card can still be used, but can no longer be topped up in EUR. You should now make top-ups in USDT if you want to use a stablecoin.
Existing EUR balances on the card can either be converted into USDT or spent.
The card runs through a bank in Lithuania and via Swipe and is independent of EUR PaySafe processing.

To be honest, I dropped all my crypto cards and just when I need to spend some coins I send them to Bitstamp and from there directly to my ING account, it's fast I don't have a ton of things to worry about like support, and there are no fx, exchange fees, no fees on ATM, I get a replacement in 48 hours, so why bother with a fourth party here?
Yeah I might try doing the same, direct exchange-bank transfer. I plan to look into Coinbase-Revolut combo as well since few of my friends are using it for years and never had any issues whatsoever.

What does Paysafe have to do with the card?
I was just about to ask the same thing. I saw that annoncement he shared, but since I didn't think that it has anything to do with my Visa card problem I pretty much ignored it.

I have some EUR already loaded on my card's balance, will I be able to spend it after October 31?

The card expires on Jan 2024.

So this is just me quoting from the answer bullrun2020bro got from support, the link is above but once again:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132044.msg62919217#msg62919217

In short, you can use still your EURO balance till that date, you will not be able to top it up in EURO, you can convert your balance to USDT (or anything else) and unless anything else happens the card should work as normal till it expires.

Again:
- better ask Binance support if you want to be 1001% sure,
- I have zero idea how the wallet funding works right now, it has been like almost one year since my last usage of the account and card
- if it's a small sum just convert it right now to USDT as the exchange fee is negligible or just spend it and throw the card in the trashcan (this last one is my personal opinion).

~

Thanks for linking my post from the German board @stompix. Some additional information on the topic:

The support told me that these information are for users from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. For other European users rules could be different. Also there might be certain accounts that are restricted and the best way to check if you're one of them, is to speak to the support if you're having trouble spending your funds.

I used my card a few days ago online and offline and its still working. It's a pitty that you can use EUR anymore, but if USDT is still working IMHO this card is still a very convenient way to spend your crypto. Even though I hate what Binance is doing and I wouldn't store bigger funds on the platform. Just top of the card with the funds you want to spend and don't use it as a wallet.

I asked support two times and they seems to be stuck in a loop where they are repeating exactly what I told them I know already and not the important thing, thus taking my chances here:
I live in the EU, I have EUR as a national currency, I'm going to get a few hundred worth of coins from some clients, do ATM withdraws still work and if so, will they work even next month?

Binance just announced that they are stopping with offering their Visa debit card services to EEA users on December 20th 2023. Since we knew that they lost card partner and stopped issuing new crads to their EU users few months ago (but they finally offically confirmed it)  this was just a matter of time and no surprise at all.

The only question now for me is what to use next as I got used to crypto debit cards (and the cashback program Grin).

Binance Card services will no longer be offered in the EEA, but you can use your existing physical or virtual card as usual until 20 December 2023 00:00 (UTC+0). Your Binance account will not be affected. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Binance just announced that they are stopping with offering their Visa debit card services  to EEA users on December 20th 2023.

Wow, Binance is in a worse mess than Wirex right now, imagine that being possible at all! At least Wirex somehow by god knows what scheme managed to keep their virtual cards alive and those worked with curve, Binance is killing virtual card also.

The only question now for me is what to use next as I got used to crypto debit cards (and the cashback program Grin).

I'm not looking for one right now but, do we have any option at all left?
Something that is not shady as * and whom you would normally trust with more than 1mbtc?
I've gone through Ratimov list and there is almost nothing on that I would use, maybe crypto(dot)com ?

Yep, its a total clusterfuck there and they probably did me a favor by not letting me use their card after December 20th.

One of my friends is using Coinbase debit card for a couple of years and so far he didn't have any issues whatsoever so that's an option for those not minding another CEX. I also have few friends that using Coinbase-Revolut combo for quite some time and they are also satisfied with it.

Another option (and the one I currently leaning to if what people are saying is true) is Revolut as from what I heard, its possible to send BTC on your account and then just spend it via physical or virtual debit cards but I still have to look into it more to see whether its that simple.

I am afraid there is no proper solution. Maybe crypto com comes the closest, but I don't think they have the same limit Binance had.

Revolut is a no-go for me, I had to accept some payments via Revolut because, well, stupid people who prefer Revolut over a simple national bank transfer and for two years I had 3 requests from them about proof of funds, after a year break to start adding Bitcoins to that account I left untouched is probably going to trigger the mother of AML checks and I'm not going to spend time on it.
Once wirex is completely dead I will just opt probably for crypto.com as a card to have there in an emergency, with no funds just easy to charge when needed.

Got that mail too and this is really funny for me

On 20th December 2023, please destroy your Binance Visa Debit Card by cutting it through the chip and magnetic stripe.

Why?
I understand banks when there is a new one issued as they might share the same number but in this case, the whole thing is useless.

Fuck, that doesn't sound good at all. They are even worse than Binance because in all these years I've been using them, they never asked me for proof of funds and I received few big transactions there. And yeah you are right, if they bothered you so much about fiat payment, it would be only worse if you inlcude bitcoin into that equation.

For some reason I've been avoiding Revolut and it looks like I might keep doing that as I can't bother going through that AML crap. The main reason I used Binance card is that I already went through KYC few years before as I was locked out of my account and that was the only way to get it back so I thought why not use the card.

Yep, it doesn't make any sense at all. But that's Binance and probably the one who wrote that didn't use his brain and just copied what banks are usually doing. For some reason I still didn't get that email.

Indeed, an ugly surprise. I've just read too about Binance cards. Well, it's not a huge surprise, since they already have their ongoing issues with EUR processing partners, still, I thought that they'll find a replacement.

And since you said Wirex, it's interesting how the tide turns,... on my last check Wirex old card started working (!), so although they have quite some conversion fees and quite incapable support... they managed to stay afloat.

Many of their cards will still be valid and I expect that trying to use them has a tiny chance to do (them) some ugly surprises somewhere, by some odd combination of bugs and incompetence somewhere on the chain.
Or, yeah, copy-paste is also a valid reason.

You mean the exact old physical card? That's more than weird, weren't those also Contis-backed?
But it does set up a quite funny scenario, imagine you're on December 21st, with tears in your eyes you start cutting your Binance card only to get a mail on the 24th saying "Happy Christmas, we have a wonderful surprise for you, all cards will be valid until their expiration dates" , and tears of joy will have a new meaning.

Don't forget the cashback program that you can't cash out!  Cheesy

For some reason I've been avoiding Revolut and it looks like I might keep doing that as I can't bother going through that AML crap.

Revolut has become a bank and it's on its path to working exactly like a bank, including AML and freezing your account, you forgot to pay a fine and you will have your Revolut account frozen just like any national bank if you don't have enough money to pay it in them. Crypto cards were cool and so but with the new regulation and the crappy service support exchange offer, it's more like some novelty toy rather than something really useful.

You mean the exact old physical card?

Maybe my wording was not so great. I meant the card that will expire in the spring of 2024. It's the card that stopped working exactly when I actually needed it (due to migration to different BIN and such)
I think that it's from the batch after Contis, but I don't rely that well on my memory.

imagine you're on December 21st, with tears in your eyes you start cutting your Binance card only to get a mail on the 24th saying "Happy Christmas, we have a wonderful surprise for you, all cards will be valid until their expiration dates" , and tears of joy will have a new meaning.

LMAO, this is actually not even an impossible scenario! Highly unlikely though  Grin

Don't forget the cashback program that you can't cash out!  Cheesy

Oh, yes, you're totally right!

True and, sadly, very true...
