I do agree that taking Kroos off was a good move. Obviously the whole team would be cheered and celebrated at the end of the game and by minute 86 they realized that Dortmund had no chance at all for a comeback, which did not happen of course.

What I believe is that, when Don Ancelotti took Kroos off, he realized that he is giving him an extra cheer, he would have been cheered along with all his teammates at the end of the day but that doesn't mean that he would have gotten anything that would be different, which is why I think it's quite important to realize that we get to see Kroos getting an extra cheer for his retirement.
