I made a point to check on this first once I woke. I have removed my support for the flag given the above measures taken by theymos. Flags are permanent but only visible if properly supported.
Only kind of correct I was going for. I couldn't be sure theymos would lock the account so I created and supported it until he took steps to secure it. I see no reason for it now, so I removed my support.

Yeah, a flag seems a bit much, and I agree with your reasoning.  Theymos has locked other accounts upon request, Mdayonliner comes to mind.  I think there's very little risk the account will be used again, and less likely that it'll be hijacked by a scammer.

The flag was created before theymos locked the account. Until I saw his post this morning there was no certainty theymos would have taken steps to lock it. I believe mdayonliner actually had to randomize their password themselves, I can't remember. Might have happened with the Bruno accounts, can't recall I didn't follow to much of the after story.

Goodbye, Lauda! Despite that your account is banned, I believe that you're going to check what's going on there. It's good that protected account from being used in scams later, like happened with one of Bruno accounts.
I'm not sure what to say. You can love or hate Lauda, but it's fact that their contribution to Bitcointalk is huge.
I remember when few years ago almost every topic on Meta and Reputation was about Lauda with so much drama. I miss these times...

At least 51% of the reason why I returned to the forum on 2020-01-01 was to reconnect with Lauda.  And now she’s gone, as if she waved a magic wand and vanished into another plane of existence.

Although there are others here whom I respect and admire and should wish to consider my friends, I have had limited interaction with most of them.  Lauda was the only person on this forum whom I deeply trusted on a personal level (not considering those whom I’d say I very much trust professionally, such as Bitcoin Core developers).  She is also one of the only true freethinkers whom I have ever met.

She and I had our disagreements.  We had some rousing debates in private.  For one thing, she was what I considered to be softhearted (LOL).  But she was not one of the sheep who proclaim themselves “freethinkers”, then bleat in horror if anyone steps away from the herd.  She had negligible tolerance for stupidity, and none at all for malice; but I think that anyone who is honest and intelligent (in that order) could get along with her just fine.

And I cared about her opinion.  And I actually cared what she thought of me!  In case nobody noticed, I do not give a damn about most people’s opinions—and I tend to be contemptuous of others’ opinions of me, personally.  Whereas Lauda commanded respect—not by demanding it, but by deserving it.  I think it’s inevitable that anyone with basic honesty and intelligence would come to respect her, sooner or later.

Lauda was always for privacy, freedom of speech, freedom of thought, financial freedom... freedom, freedom! —the things without which all of the other things I care about cannot exist!  And she once told me that if I agreed with her about everything, it would be boring.

Whoever she is, she is a rare mind.  Not just some screen name on the Internet.  Outside of my family, of all the people whom I have ever met in real life, I cannot think of even a half-dozen who have been more personally significant to me—who have merited such significance.

Wherever she is, I hope that she’s ok.  She said some very worrisome things; but I can’t worry about it, when I can’t do anything about it.

Well now we know that cryptohunter's still going to rant about Lauda years after the account got banned. Sometimes I think even if the forum was completely deserted there would still be cryptohunter shouting in there to himself about the DT powers-that-be.

Another sad day for the forum (but not for everyone obviously).
This is a horrible year in terms of losing valuable members.
First was TMAN, then Bruno, now Lauda... And there are still 2+ more months...

I wasn't always agree to her decisions, especially when she started the fight with theymos and all the DTs were involved. This was something I did not agree with and I resigned from the DT for a while... other than that I got a few times help with tagging accounts when I still was a breadless baby.

Every of online forum are filled with people who feels better criticizing others and making others look bad. They come picking up a fight even if you are not addressing them. We should stick to our ideas but it's better to ignore and avoid these negative people and not to hurt own-self for their rude behavior. Most of these people are a victim themselves and we should be sympathetic towards their situation.

No one is perfect and everyone makes a mistake, it's better to accept your mistake and learn from them and rectify them if possible than to cling on them and defend them with unreasonable statements. Forgive and Forget and don't make your online presence more important than real life.

I'm no  expert of the matter with TMAN and Lauda but they were an important part of this forum. Leaving the forum just because some people can't get along with you is not what bitcoin teaches us. But again, you don't necessarily be on the forum to follow and support bitcoin. The forum would certainly miss some quick ideas and opinions.

I did not know Lauda too much but read Lauda's posts sometimes and his/her advise in my threads. I heard of cat drama years ago but never spent my time to read all about the drama.

Today, it is sad to see Lauda's goodbye thread.

I know how difficult to abandon the forum especially after you have spent years here, as a member and as a moderator. To mark your abandonment, I took the screenshot for you. Newbies, years later, will aks questions like "Who is Lauda?"

TBH I don’t think that TMAN has/had anywhere near the legacy here that Luda has.. Completely different league IMO..

Now thats a befitting sendoff. They had already withdrawn from the forum a lot. It was a great inning marked by dedication and a lot of work. The post count, merit, numerous threads, troll wars, impeccable comebacks, acid humor, campaign management, escrows and fighting for the forum that they did speaks of the effort that was put in. Hope you are moving on to greener pastures to dedicate more time to other real-life ventures. The forum now has a life of its own and it will outlive us all. Best wishes for your endeavors.

What an enigma “they” are!  To be honest, I am no more certain that Lauda was a single individual than I am that she was female. ;-)

I do think that I have the balance of probabilities on my side here.
