FYI, you can bypass the current rule used by uBlock Origin by adding "bitcointalk.org" to the URLs on the signature.

Or simply click on a big power button in uBlock if you are lazy to copy-paste.
I think this is not strictly used only in uBlock origin extension because this filter changes are often shared between different adblockers, but uBlock is best option currently currently.
I just tested with Brave browser and same issue can be fixed with clicking the Shields button off for bitcointalk forum:

It needs to show Shields are down for bitcointalk.org.

That only works on your end, we know most people won't disable their adblocks. Ideally you would want a solution so everyone can see the signature by default.

Let's hope that other adblocks won't follow ublock and create different rules.

Even thought ublock (which is just one adblock) is currently blocking signatures, they are still there.

The SEO benefits (probably the most important one) is still there, as Google bots do not use ublock.

Correct, your solution is much better.
Someone should contact campaign managers to make this changes if possible.
I am also wondering if our local miracle maker and forum developer PowerGlove can make another of his SMF patches for this purpose.

This is the current rule:

Code:
.signature:has(a[href]:not([href*="bitcointalk.org"]))

For example, I just tested changing every https://godex.io/ url to https://godex.io/#bitcointalk.org or https://godex.io/?bitcointalk.org and my signature started showing up.

It remains to be seen how long they will allow this little trick. Probably until someone complains.

As I don't use this type of program, I don't suffer from this problem. But, I think that gradually, it will become difficult to avoid these cases.

Why does anybody complain about signatures on bitcointalk forum in first place to an adblock?!!!

It is not like you have to see them. There is a simple checkbox option available in the profile of every user under the "Look and Layout Preferences" where the user can simply check the "Don't show users' signatures" and not see the signatures anymore and without any way to circumvent it!

Do the uBlock devs know this option is available?

Initially I thought the same. But then I remembered: whoever complained might not have an account on the forum. He was browsing the internet, and when he entered the site he saw casino advertising banners. As his adblock didn't crash, he went there to complain.

My guess: they don't mind not seeing them, but they do mind if other people don't see them because that threatens the existence of signature campaigns.

I don't think that option is available for new accounts.

From uBlock's perspective, it's understandable: I don't want to create an account on every site I visit, and when I install an adblocker, I expect it to block as much as possible. Can't blame them for being good at what they do.

So I am late to the discussion. I thought something serious was going on then saw the OP created back in 2020. Scrolled to find who bumped and why. Good thing that I do not use any blocker and I have no issue at all.
Sure thing I was about even while I ran through your comment. I saw October 28th and I was like, it’s 1st of October… anyway, got to find their were reasons for the bump and a valid one at that.

Bumping this thread up after a long time

For those who have the uBlock Origin extension installed on their browsers, it looks like they impulsively decided to block forum signatures yet again. No sure why they keep doing this because not all forum signatures are "adverts". Last time round, after some rope pulling they reverted the decision but after a recent comment from a certain user about ads they added back the filter almost instantly
Code:
bitcointalk.org##.signature:has(a[href]:not([href*="bitcointalk.org"]))
It’s surprising how a 2018 long issue could be raised once again and you find it being acted upon after a previous rulings on it. If users are to have issues with this, shouldn’t there be some command in place from users end to exclude them from this? I think that would have been a better approach towards this rather than deciding against those whom might want this advertised and to see this at the same time.
