I still have some GPUs I'm currently mining with, the reason why I can't sell them is because I'm still making money out of these setup, I used the money to buy food stocks for my family every month ending, this is the purpose of building the mining rig, I'm into trading and other stuffs so I don't entirely rely on the mining profits, OP made is choice and it's a good one, we all have our differences why we build mining rigs.

it's not a stupid decision, in fact I think it's a good thing for now. because currently I feel that doing independent mining is quite costly. if I am in the same position then I will also do the same. however, doing mining independently also has many things to think about such as maintenance costs, electricity, and others.

I think you definitely made the right choice to sell all of your mining rigs if you think you are not making enough money because you also need to pay the maintenance cost and electricity bill you used in your mining rig. Do you ever know a validator? Its a new way like mining but there is no need high volume of electricity. This process is for the holders of a coin. If you are interested and you have a capital to invest in, Its good to invest your money on the validator. Good to run on the project like Elrond, HOPR and many more.

For me it is all about guts and knowledge, if you have extra money then why not invest it in current trending altcoins. There are a lot of opportunities out there so for me it is better if you have guts to take the opportunities. That is actually a helpful decision since some mining rigs cannot keep up with the current trend thus it is just creating a more energy costing device for you BUT maybe you should create a Bitcoin mining rig and just join Alternate Cryptocurrencies campaigns since as we have seen from the last quarter of 2017, the rise of Bitcoin greatly affected the rise of most Alternate Cryptocurrencies that really pumped their value. We still cannot say if that is the same thing that would happen now but its better to keep something than lose everything.
