Quite right, it was like this before and now the same thing, a lot of airdrops are now made by scammers and in these airdrops there is one condition, to participate in an airdrop or to get tokens from an airdrop, you must transfer a certain amount of money and thats why you should never participate in such airdrops.

Airdrops were so popular among the crypto-community over the years. One of the key features of the airdrops is, it gives every participant a chance to get some free tokens by completing few tasks. Most importantly it is totally free of charge. But nowadays we frequently see a trend where the organizers of some of the airdrops ask to send a small fee prior to sending the tokens. In some cases, they put a condition saying that in order to withdraw tokens or any fund received from the sale of tokens, it is mandatory to take part in their ICOs. I would rather call such events as "Scam-drops" as they not only dilute the meaning of airdrops, but also make people to move away from future events due to lack of trust.

That is the absolute truth, airdrop participants have no business with ICO unless they want to, but putting that as a condition means something is wrong with that platform and hence that platform or project's airdrop should be avoided because the team will not pay but rather are looking for a way to attract more investors and possibly exit scam. Also, another way to point out fake airdrops is, any airdrop asking for transfer fee is probably scam, that is, how can participants pay before you pay them their rewards and most times, airdrops like that, ends up running away with the transfer fees collected.
Nevertheless, out of all these, there are still good airdrops and when one sees them, their condition are clear and not hidden thus possessing all the features of an airdrop, which is, do the given tasks and get paid within a stipulated time; but they are just few.

Airdrop is just a short promotion by doing easy labor and earning a little money, but if a team asks to send them some ETH I will leave it, because I don't believe in the project.
It is indeed very commonplace to be left behind when an Airdrop asks for some ETH to claim the reward, but currently many who participate in the Airdrop don't get anything because the rewards that are distributed are very small for each participant.

As long as it’s airdrops you don’t have to pay anything to get the money you have worked hard for. And point of correction: it is not free money, you work for it by performing the tasks they list on their website, and by performing those tasks you’re being useful to them by promoting the project on your social media handles on Twitter, Facebook and other media websites.

You cannot do all that and at the end they expect you to send a fee to them, if any airdrop ask or fee before sending your money they are just some criminals.

I remember how in 2017 I've got Monero Gold tokens from airdrop. Even though the project turned to be scam, I clearly remember that these tokens were tradable on exchange and people managed to get some money from it. But I did not get anything due to my greed. As I saw price grows, I've decided to hold and sell when the price makes x2 during weekend. On Monday when I opened projects page, there a sign how they scammed everyone on index page Smiley So even with scam drops you can still get some money though.

You can come into a conclusion that there is no more airdrops in the crypto space which worth the effort of yours, so if you are finding something called airdrop from now on then you can consider it as scam drops as your term.

People lost trust so good projects don't follow this type of promotion anymore, think smart and don't waste your time and valuable sensitive data, even money which they ask you as fee.

I have stop joining with many airdrop and only participating on bounty campaign project only because I think most potential with bounty campaign than have joined with many airdrop, I waste many time with airdrop from fill form until right now have airdrop with telegram bot. I got some coin from airdrop but giving by erc20 coin platform where we need higher fees for sending and is not the same based on coin price, so better never joining with scam or not potential airdrop because waste our time and we can't get anything.

In fact it would be crazy to consider joining an ICO "just" for an airdrop, simply not worth it. Airdrop is designed to get awareness from the crypto community by doing "simple things" to get free tokens, if it has entered into "participating" in a fundraising, I think it's no longer an airdrop.

if there is an airdrop link and they require to send a fee to be able to withdraw it I think that the "scam drops" airdrop does not charge the slightest and if indeed the airdrop is not a scam, the token has value in the market and that is clear.
Usually an airdrop will just distribute the token without any excuse like that. To be frank, any airdrop that demands ethereum for "transaction fee" is those airdrop from somewhat broke project that's gonna end up worthless.

Most of the airdrop that are huge success as I've seen just give the token right away to the airdrop participant without any such lame excuses.

In airdrops nowadays, according to my experience back then which might still happen these days, either you get the token you were promised at, get nothing and the thread of the airdrop disappears cause of newbie manager, or the worst, try to get baited from phishing site. While I am not stupid to fall for those fake My Ether Wallet sites, I wonder how many people suddenly lost their tokens from those though.

ICOs were requesting their abundance members to have this sort of sharing. They were requested their ETH address and when the prizes were going to come, they were requesting them to send a modest quantity from ETH for the GAS. ETH to the location and I guess the vast majority of the members likewise label the gathering as spam on the grounds that later on I'm getting notice from message that the bot is labeled as a spam.

It should be free if you would pay to receive their token then for me it isn't airdrop but an small time crowd funding.
I never joined any airdrop that requires KYC and fee's since I believe that airdrop only requires a small work in order to receive it or just your wallets address.

If they charge for airdrop then it is a scam airdrop campaign. While there are some airdrop campaigns that actually payout after sending a fee, it's still a risk. They can be trusted if the project is popular and good. It is better to avoid such airdrops.

This is just my opinion, that the real airdrop is to give each participant the opportunity to get some free tokens (they say) by completing some easy tasks and at the end of the event they decide to require participants to send ETH gas fees to claim their tokens. So, are these what are called free airdrops?

if you are talking about airdrops before, sending gas fee was a no no. if a project was asking for small amt of eth, they were usually ignored. but nowadays, some still are patronising this kind of airdrop for the hope that they will get profit but i bet most of them are just wasting your time and effort.
after wasting your energy doing the tasks required, you have no assurance if you will ever get a valuable coin or token, because as ive seen most of them are trash and not even hitting to any single exchange
if i may advise, if you have other talents or skills, better look for other worthwhile activities or tasks here that may generate decent income for you

Its scam airdrop because you should pay them eth as gass transaction fee and they don't have enough money how to sent coin without have any fees. I will left airdrop need to sent eth because I think waste our money without get anything with this airdrop, better joining airdrop just fill form and waiting when coin airdrop sending without need any fees to claim but now very little airdrop could get free without sent eth to them. Always joining airdrop without any hard task and just joining twitter, telegram for available to earn airdrop coin and look most faster for sending coin.

Obviously you should avoid any such airdrop like plague. The purpose of an airdrop is to distribute small amounts of cryptocurrency to individuals, who otherwise can't afford to purchase it. If a fee is being charged, then the purpose is lost. But there are huge number of free airdrops out there, which are quite useful for newer users to get their hands on some coins or tokens.

These are not Scam-drops. They are not scamming you unless they are asking a few sats.
Yes, they are asking you for some tasks in order to receive their airdrop, they are not forcing you either but it is you or me who are willing to complete the task and participate in their airdrops.

I know that some members here still believing airdrops, well, that be their choice. Besides, we are not sure if they are doing good or they are wasting their time. So if we are not confident participating in airdrops, then just ignore them.

Many airdrop still processing and you would participate then need passing key so that's for why i dont participate any airdrop. However After passing key then you will receive 5-10% so that's really hard. We should forget airdrop time because this is not like year 2017.

This is no longer the time to do an Airdrop, and it has even been left behind by so many people, so it is not surprising with the current Airdrop, it has lost people's interest and added to the many scams in the name of Airdrop, and not to mention the prices in all markets, plus the process of doing it is sometimes made complicated by the project, with some of the problems I mentioned that make many people unwilling to participate in Airdrops, even though only a handful of people are still doing or looking for Airdrops ..

Airdrops are free of charge, if someone asks you to send them money they are not airdrops, they are not real tokens and they are not doing it the right way and they are scammers. There is no airdrop in the world that would ask you for money, there is no way of projects to ask money that way and would get away with it, it is impossible to expect people to pay you for working for you, it makes no sense.

It means all those "airdrops" you see that asks for money are not airdrops, they are scammers. This is why the moment you see someone ask you money, get away as further away from them as you can, delete the telegram bot, delete the channels, unfollow the twitter account and basically forget about them. The longer you look at the offer the harder it would be to get away.

Airdrop is an effective marketing strategy to attract users. By distributing crypto for free, through airdrops, developers can promote their products at a relatively lower cost.
Indirectly, airdrops can build a community of users of their cryptocurrency products, and airdrop participants help developers increase awareness, existence, and accelerate adoption of the airdrop token, and usually airdrop participants are required to disseminate project information via twitter tweets or Facebook shares. but if there are developers who ask airdrop participants to send crypto as a condition of receiving tokens, of course it can be ascertained that the airdrop is fraud and dont send a  private key wallet in filling out the airdrop registration form.
