More you have more expensive your toys do become LOL. How much does it cost to travel to orbital station as a tourist?  Wink  And for those who think 1 mill is enough - it's not enough to buy and maintain a couple of decent houses in various nice parts of the world, a decent car and a sailboat, leave alone a small plane. And if you like to travel (in relative comfort, of course) and actually see the world instead of watching Geography Channel then 1 mill will be over in less than 10 years, too.

I read the question and the answers.

The tangent question to this is how much is time and health worth?

I am 64 My wife is 65. We get along.  If you offered me 30 years more time to be with her and for us to be really healthy for those 30 years I would pay quite a bit for that.

Since no one seems to be selling those 2 items time and health my need for big money drops a lot.

I know what we have.
I know what our fairly  certain income streams are.

So if I have 7 million usd tax free dropped in my lap with zero questions asked and no strings attached I would say I do not need any more than that amount.

I would want 2 homes not 1. 450k
I would want 1 car and 1 truck not just 1 car. 50k tesla truck
I would want a vacation spot in Canada or way Upstate New York a basic cabin with some land.  200k
I would want a nice sized ground mounted solar array giving me 1 megawatt of power at one of the homes. 2.5 million. This translates to about 160kwatt for free 24/7/365 I could run a lot of miners with that.

that is 3.2 million. I would hand over 3.5 million to the wife. leaving me 300k to play miner with.

How much is enough money? For a person living in the United States under this COVID crisis that is an interesting question. Why because of the inflation of the FED stamps printed by the FED which means 1 million dollars might be in the form of a dollar bill rather than a lengthy bank transfer (or crypto-stable transfer  Smiley) soon enough (or it will come in the form of a CBDC). In a way I sort of hope the USD stays the standard of global trade but we in the states are spoiled and it will soon all the printing and poor monetary policies will come back to bite the US. If were to stablize as I see it now. I would sell half my crypto for 4 Million dollars (keeping the other 4 million in crypto to accrue interest or gains in the markets) if the Zombie in Chief (or Mrs. Fake) doesn't take most of it in taxes. I'd hodl the rest in crypto just in case the USD goes the way of Venezuela, Zimbabwe or the Weimar Republic of Germany (circa-post WWI).

If a poor man is given a lot of money, he will take it. If a rich man is given a lot of money, he will take it. And even a very very rich person will also take money. Only a dead person will not accept money.
We all spend essential portions of our lives pursuing money. Financial satisfaction is more of an emotional issue, and our attitudes and beliefs determines our sense of satisfaction and contentment. Man by nature is insatiable and "more money, more problems". That lies the unending quest for wealth. For example, a person can be grateful for a monthly income of $10,000 while another person will feel disenchanted and disappointed deprived this same level of income.

The chase for money especially in this dispensation is never ending. People are willing to go all out and do anything (legal and illegal) for money these days. The real question that i am forced to ask is, how much money is enough money?

At what point will one say that he or she has had enough money?
LOL, I have to say that there is no amount of money is enough for human. The rules is the more have the more you want. Just think about bill gates and Elon musk, Both are the top richest man in the world. That means atleast they should have enough money, right? But they are still doing works, business, to increase their capital. If the world richest man can not feel he has enough money despite owning thousand of billions dollars. Then How people like you, me can feel that we have enough money?

* Btw to give an idea about the money which help to lead life with happiness then we have to know the country where you are live. This really important before giving an constructive answer IMO.

Everyone needs money. they need money to take care of their lives and dreams. They need money to take care of their loved ones. Money will never be enough for everyone.
Even a monk, still needs money.
We see that the richest people in the world or the poorest people in the world are working day by day to make more money.
Somewhere in the world, there are still dozens of people making money and at a point, they don't need more because they do not need to use such a large salary. I have met many elders who are satisfied with their lives in their homeland. They don't need much money, they just need a peaceful life with their family.
Money is never enough, it matters how we think about them.

I can only dream so such big money that I do not have the means right now to deal with such big amounts. But for me it might be enough if I can ensure that my children and their children will be able to live comfortably but with conditions. Conditions that has something to do with them being able to learn crypto and learn trading and learn whatever businesses we might have along the way. For them to be able to continue the family business. And for them to be able to become good managers of the finances and of themselves. If you have a big family, a big house and a car is not enough. For me if you have several renting places and a farming business and a resort business, I think that would be sufficient for one to be able to survive many many years.

They say the more money the more you want more money. I do not know. I didn't have so much that I would say, that's enough for me. I think $ 1 million would be enough for me. That is, I want to buy a house, a car, and invest the rest for the future.

Human greed is very simple to understand, just like there are uncountable stars in the Galaxy, and then uncountable galaxies in the observable universe, and the outside of the observeable universe is infinitely the same as the inside, human greed is infinite and ever expanding and will end with a person's life only, it knows not any boundary to stop. If one has two oceans of diamond, he will dream of a third one. Wink

The question on how much money is enough is rhetorical. We all know that humans' wants are insatiable which is the reason why we would never be satisfied even though we owns everything in the world. The more we earn or we are able to acquire will continue to increase because humans wants is numerous and unlimited.

We all have this desire to earn more and more even though we have  surplus, the desire never ends. Greed is another factor that could make one to have unlimited desires even  though their is still nothing to acquire. This is the reason human being would never be satisfied with their current conditions. Always wanting never tired. Even the richest man in the world is still ready to earn more not considering his surpluses.

Can money ever be enough? When the rich wants to be richer, and the poor wants to be rich by all means. Can money ever be enough, when human needs are insatiable, when human being seem to be satisfied with the one they have, and yet are not contented.Man can never have enough money that can make them say I don't want again,I've had enough.

This is how human nature is, nothing is ever satisfying which makes every persons to have the urge for more even though there is still enough that is left in reservation. The rich keeps on investing to have more wealth while the poor or average people also engaged in things that will bring money for them. In as much as money answereth all things, the urge to make money keeps on increasing with so many reasons and factors that is influencing the way we think.

Never enough. If you have 1 million you will want 2 million and more. Even I see rich people living lavish lives, spending without thinking, but they still don't want to stop.keep making money until they die.

Some of you stated that no money is enough money, that we always need more; some talked about multiple houses, yatches... and everyone that has mentioned the 1 million has said it is NOT enough.

Well, that is the TRAP: the more money, the more expensive toys you want, but this is what they are, just TOYS.

It is quite simple maths: if I work for the next 30 years this is what I could expect to earn in all my life, 1 million. It is $33.333 annually, much more than the annual salary for an average Joe in my country (Spain). So if you asked me again, I would repeat the same answer: 1 million is enough money for me, and I don't see why it shouldn't be for anyone else. I guess that most people here don't just look for financial freedom, and this is the straight way to the slavery of desire and greediness.

Due to inflation there is no finite number for me. What could have been enough money three years ago might not be enough now.
Though something like 0.001% of the worlds money could make me feel I have enough (recalculated every year).

If 1 million is enough for you then why people who have more than 1 million in their bank accounts are still working? Doing business or anything?

We can't draw a line and say this amount of money is enough to live the remaining life as you wish since inflation causes the purchasing power to become less and less while the development increase the expectations increase every year.

You can speak for yourself but not others.

Many people do not have insatiable needs and wants.

For me at 64 I rather have the time than the money.

I know how I spend.

I know 10 million would be far more than I want or need since my time left is very likely to be under 35 years.

In fact 3 or 4 million tax free does the trick. But as I said I rather be poorer with less money and 35 years old.

If 1 million is enough for you then why people who have more than 1 million in their bank accounts are still working? Doing business or anything?

You should ask them, not me Cheesy I suppose that they don't work at McDonalds or a car wash.

If I was paid upfront the money I'd earn in my entire life, take it for granted that I would only keep working or doing business if I really liked it.

About inflation, well, let's start discounting the interests of the credit/mortgage I wouldn't have to pay on my degree/house, apart from the fact I would invest a part of the remaining money (in Bitcoin, for example, which is deflationary).

It seems that some of you get a bit angry at me because 1 million is enough for me and not for you. Instead of trying to change my mind, why don't you reflect on the idea that money is a fiction invented by humans that is praised like a god but that has only the power one gives to it? I would literally live the same life I would without the million, but with a lot more spare time and without the potential obligation to do something that I don't like. If I wanted some lambo/bora-bora dream life it wouldn't be enough, of course, but to me that I don't aspire to such nonsense, it is.

Edit: 1M tax free, I concede Tongue
