El Salvador buys more BTC and promotes crypto
As you may know, UCoin is on the march in South America, and we are monitoring the region for every crypto initiative. Last week the president of El Salvador Nayib Bukele announced that even despite the downtrend in the crypto market, El Salvador added another 100 BTC to its coffers. According to the head of state, accumulating and HODL’ing digital assets is an important aspect of his policy to increase the country’s share in cryptocurrencies.
Earlier, President Bukele made public his intention to build a bitcoin city, funded from a $1 billion volcano bond. While the capital is partly reserved for buying BTC, the rest of it will be allocated to supporting mining initiatives.
El Salvador’s plans point at the country’s growing confidence in BTC, which is something to celebrate, because here at UCoin we are working towards exactly that: promotion and popularization of crypto all over the globe!

El Salvador buys 150 more BTC
As you may know, UCoin is actively developing in the South American region, and we are closely monitoring the space for crypto-related news. A couple of days ago El Salvador made the headlines again! President Nayib Bukele has posted a tweet where he announced that the country had acquired another 150 BTC at an average price of $48,500.
Suffice to say that there was still a bit of miscalculation involved: within just an hour after the purchase, started at an average cost of $48,500 the price fell to values close to $42,000 and this will beyond doubt be remembered by the opponents of the ambitious president’s pro-crypto policy.
However, Bukele himself admitted that he was a bit hasty with the purchase. On Twitter, the head of El Salvador had a self-defeating laugh at the hastiness of his decision, realising that by delaying just a few minutes, the state could’ve made so much more profit.
However, a missed profit is not a loss, so there is not much to worry about here! In the long-term, just like El Salvador, we believe in Bitcoin and how digital assets can change the world, which is why we’re working to make it a reality!
