Personally I bet on NFL Football the most,

Stick with that. If you are mostly betting on that sports, then I guess you are good at it now.

In my case, I bet mostly on basketball because it's my comfort zone.

Maybe not the best sports to bet for others but it all comes to our own idea about that sports.

Doesn't mean that one should shy away from a certain sport they want to bet on though. Just that, it isn't a guarantee that you would actually profit off of it, especially since you know close to nothing about the sports, nor the rules about it. I myself watch and sometimes bet on chess matches, I understand the basic rules but I have no bloody clue how the mind of the players works on it since I'm particularly bad at playing it. On that note, OP asking for the "best" might've been wrong, might have been better to ask the sport that most people bet on instead.

Its best you gamble on what you love best because you have well guided statistics on what to expect from
ever gamble made. Imagine gambling on a gamble let use casino for example and you know little or nothing about it. You would not just gamble you will gamble your gamble (meaning you just gambled your ignorance)

sports betting is quite hard to predict, but not impossible.

I thought I'll save that part of the story for later. The last bet was on a win for the home team which was first in the league playing against the last. They led the game 2-0 and it turned out to be a draw in the end!!!!! 2 - 2, omg...

This is ages ago and I couldn't easily secure the bet with a counter bet online. It is like 15 years ago or so when we still filled out those betting tickets. Fun time regardless can say for sure!

The best is the one that you know about it well, best for other does not mean best for us and vice versa.
Sports betting is about our own knowledge IMO, if we are familiar with one specific sport then we should bet on it only.
Indeed we are free to bet on other sports (by following tips, or suggestion from others) but there is no points for betting on something that we do not even familiar with.

Betting on a sports you know makes everything perfect, because you'll never get bored and you won't be cheated on. Also, betting on a sport that could easily end that will save your time is also good, like horse racing, but the majority of people don't support it anymore because of animal cruelty they are doing to the horses that are being use in the race track.

Here in my country, the sports we love to bet on is PBA and NBA, but my friends are doing fun gambling like watching live UFC fight and then gonna bet whose gonna win and winner takes all.

Agree. Football (soccer) is one of the best sports games for gambling. Despite the game is fast, that does not affect much on the result. Compare  it with hockey for example. Just count how many times the puck moves from home team field to visitors per minute. With each attack there is a high probability that there will be a shot to goal. Now football - the ball moves from player to player, same as puck. But in most cases it is 1-10 minutes of "pass-pass-pass-pass-pass-ball lost-pass-pass-pass-pass-corner/offside)".

It would depend if you are considering profit or fun. For me, basket is more fun because the games go up and down, it is quite difficult to predict and there are continuous scoring. However, football is better if you intend to make a profit, because the teams tend to perform on a more regular fashion. I do not know enough about hockey and boxing, but my friends say that they are mostly for fun betting.

Finally, if I had to choose, tennis may be a good combination of both. While players tend to perform as expected, the odds on the losers are usually good enough to take their side and the game is also fun to watch and never over until it is over.

I am just kind of curious if anyone has done any research or has any opinions on which sport they think is the best sport to gamble.  I guess I'm looking for both opinions and hard data.

Personally I bet on NFL Football the most, followed by the NBA, MLB, College Basketball and every once in a while I'll bet on a big Soccer ( football for you Euros ) game like the Classico.  For me, Football by far seems to be the easiest sport to bet on.  Baseball and Basketball are too random and their betting lines tend to be a bit more confusing.  With the NFL only having 16 games vs MLB with 162 and the NBA with 82..It seems like there is much less of a chance for an upset or sloppy game vs the other two where the regular season simply doesn't mean nearly enough.

Yes, I also prefer to bet on football.  However, I am not sure if this is the best solution. 

Sports betting is a zero-sum game.  The player has opponents to play with.  If these rivals are better at understanding the finer points of the game than you are, then your chances of success are slim.  In my opinion, in such a situation for betting, it is advisable to choose a game in which you do not have strong opponents (experts in this game). 

That being said, you yourself must be an excellent expert in this sports game.

It depends on the purpose for which you are placing your bets. If for the sake of making money, then you need to choose a more predictable sport, if in order to tickle your nerves, then less. For example, it is believed that men's and women's tennis are very different in predictability, since women are less emotionally stable and during a match the situation can radically change several times.

I agree, if you are playing for money personal preferences shouldn't be decisive. If you are watching games and just want the thrill while watching, well, obviously you place your bets on the sport you like to watch the most.

I once placed 9 bets on a Bundesliga match day, 8 games were correct and now the 9th game was about to start. That was the real deal in terms of fun and thrill.

For money though nobody would put 9 games down on a single betting ticket. Just doesn't make any sense.

Soccer, But what about the fact that there is the Draw result to factor, most games in Soccer
are 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 results. There is only one scoring method, A goal. I like betting occasionaly
on Rugby, the Draw result isnt as common because there are 4 scoring methods, Try,
Conversion, Penalty and Drop Goal.

So Win/Loose games are marginally less risky.

I think it is defined by the amount of data, which can be gathered around a certain type of sport, rather than personal preferences, like many mentioned here. What if you admire a very unusual sport, and, due to this, it's practically impossible to find some useful info and, in addition, not a lot of sportsbooks offer it and, thus, you can't choose the most preferable odds.
My best choices are NFL and NBA. I've heard many times that people also place bets on College Football, but I've never tried it, I'm not sure if it's worth it.
