I am not gambling in Dubai anytime soon but thanks for the heads up, this is just another case in which what we read on social media turns out to be false, which is why I do not use that way to inform myself and I do not take it seriously, can you imagine the amount of misinformation that is moving there if the government of Dubai has to come forward and actually say the rumors are false? Obviously I would have hoped for them to change their posture but if they do not want to do so and as long as that is crystal clear that is fine for me.

Dubai is an open country in which even liquor is allowed in specific or designated areas.

The United Arab Emirates is one of the more progressive countries in the middle east. From what I have heard, the women are not required to cover their heads and alcoholic beverages are readily available in the major cities. But don't get overly relaxed while visiting the country. There was an incident a few months back, when an unmarried couple was arrested after the lady became pregnant outside the wedlock. The neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are much more conservative.

now dubai has transformed into a city that is quite magnificent in the middle east and of course this is an attraction for many people to visit dubai but there are many issues that are circulating now that dubai has become texas so when we look at it from television it looks like dubai is not Dubai, which used to have strict religious regulations and in my opinion, nowadays Dubai and Middle Eastern cultures have mixed with western culture.

Alcohol is also not allowed according to Sharia law nor is it a tradition amongst Muslims, but it is allowed to drink alcohol in Dubai. You are not allowed to be seen carrying bottles and drinking in public, but you can do it in hotels and bars.

It's just a matter of time before they legalize some sort of gambling activities as well. Just like in many other locations all around the world, football is also the most popular sport in Dubai. It's just natural that a tourist destination such as Dubai will eventually loosen up its laws to keep attracting even more tourists. It will begin slowly, one hotel at a time, and when they notice the amount of tax revenue gambling can generate, it will spread by itself.   

Doesn't Dubai have a pretty impressive gambling scene? Like physical casinos? I also thought they are relatively well known for high stakes poker, sometimes closed doors. A lot of people move to Dubai for tax reasons already. Difficult to tell whether they really would consider a gambling tax, I doubt it. At least nothing crazy high.

Which in fact Muslim Country Regions or simply Islamic countries like Dubai has a lot of laws and customs thag every tourist or gamblers should respect of course. Dubai now was turn out into a magical and developed city, country and in myself I am dreaming to visit Dubai but maybe visiting because I would gamble is not my purpose, I'd loved to visit it as a tourist only. Though, it is nice to think that Dubai will be open for gambling however also found out that the article was also a false news.

I think, they do have clubs, party but when it comes to gambling, this country is clear that they do not permit it to legally operate. So it means, gambling is illegal and if you are found that you are dealing with gambling activities, then, it is for you to accept certain punishment. You can gamble but you are taking the risk to be punished by their laws.

You can really expect that they wont really be allowing legal gambling in Dubai and also anywhere else in the UAE and just like other muslim nations where we know that

Sometimes I feel like the debate on many Arab or Muslim countries is the same debate that many wester nations had... 100 years ago. All that mixing of politics with morality and what is allowed and not is just making the middle east one of the most boring regions on Earth. I think that people would be less interested in waging war or confronting others if they had something else to do - e.g. legal casino betting - apart from working, praying and having delicious mint tea.

Even if Dubai does not legalize gambling, gambling will be there like alcohol was served in speakeasys in the USA during the dry law period. BTW, I seem to recall that there were bets on camel racing anyway??

Dubai is a big country where there can find something new and also interested in it. Abd what that is is to know what will happen to the person or parties who are involved in that project. However with this kind of situation, if there are many casinos, does it mean that this country supports gambling or only certain gambling in the at least 4stars,.
And I am also pretty sure that it may be related to the taxes or even the income of the country itself

I would think twice about that already, they dont subscribe to usury en masse as we are all used to now and various kinds of normal banking problems are avoided by excluding the  high leverage situation that builds up in western banks in sometimes a completely false way.   Obviously risk cannot be avoided and imo gambling is a natural instinct as all humans must deal with risk but I understand and respect their faith and belief in excluding various practises now common in western civilisation.   I hope they benefit from it and its some benefit to the world not to have everyone revolving around the same leveraged banking system.  Crypto is one method of alternate ledger and various countries like this also have a strong natural aversion to FIAT; I think they are natural allies to crypto tbh just not on this one sector of usage.

There are currently no physical and legal online casinos in Dubai. Online gambling is banned in Dubai because the UAE follows Islamic law which considers gambling a sin so the local government has banned all gambling also residents and visitors could face heavy fines or jail time if they engage in any illegal activity online gambling is not under government control. Ah, potato, potahto. I don't think you can look at it that way. Those poker chips have to be purchased at the cashier's desk, they are not handling them out for free. And the winner goes back to the cashier's desk and exchanges his chips back for cash.

Haha, you made me laugh with this one. I don't know about camel races, but Dubai does take bets on horse races. I would be interested in the logic of allowing horse racing but not greyhound racing, sports betting, etc.

I completely disagree. It depends on the poker tournament because you can play with real money in the form of chips. And it also depends on how the state sees poker, whether it is a skill game or a poker game.

I am pretty sure that the majority of muslim countries will categorize poker as luck driven, hence as gambling.

However, the rules in Dubai seem to be different anyway as you can also drink inside buildings, there are bars and so on.

if your a residence of dubai you will know the real status of gambling in this city but if you arent and your planning to visit them , its not good to depend on social media for information because anyone can create a fake page or fake profile to spread lies  .

Well said! there are people who can simply create fake information that will lead you to false knowledge, better to ask someone who are residing their and have a much deeper knowledge about all the rules regarding to gambling, the chance that they can provide much concrete and precise information is far better than looking in social media channles..

Dubai may be a rich city given UAE's oil business but apparently gambling isn't legally permitted anywhere in there. It is a Muslim country, and follows strict Muslim laws and gambling sure is one of those that they should avoid in order to comply with their religion. If one is planning to go on a gambling spree, they should not look at around those parts (Middle East). HK, Singapore, and Macau offers a lot to gamblers and that's where people should set their sights in if they want to have a unique gambling experience.

People aren't that noob. If your a person visiting a country, you will not just rely on what you read on social media for example about the status of the country.

It's hard to imagine that you are paying lots of money for your travel then, in the end, you are lack knowledge about how to get reliable information about the country you will visit. It's already a common thing to do to read lots of sources to gained information.

I really don't see any point in trying to crack down on the domestic gaming industry instead of actively trying to regulate it.

Firstly, black market gambling joints are always going to pop up. We know that it's human nature to gamble, and as long as there is local demand, there will be supply regardless of what sort of restrictions are in place.

Secondly, offshore/online gambling sites are simply going to replace local joints for the interested gamblers.

Lastly, it's just missed revenue for the government. If Dubai could regulate the gambling industry as opposed to actively restricting it, then not only can they save on enforcement costs for their restrictions, but also reap significant taxation revenue from the industry.

We are aware that in Islamic countries, the government is highly associated not just with political views but with regional views. Gambling is not allowed in these types of countries. There are operating illegally as usual and that was common.

And Dubai doesn't need the gambling industry to become one of their financial resources. They achieved being one of the richest places in the world without it.
