Come on, don't compare the shitty one with Elon.

First things, John McAfee accepted any kind of promotion for ICO and some project while Elon is not accepted any kind of this he was really interested in the crypto itself by himself not as a business entity. And the plus things, how experience + milestone Elon have more achievement so far on the technology comparing the shitty John McAfee. If you know elon before the crypto like "PewDiePie" he was really like fomo.

It is a form of entertainment to someone with his amount of money and is used to satisfy his enormous ego. Elon was only ever looking out for Elon, regardless of what his many sheep, sorry - followers, may have thought. I give him credit that he spent a lot of money on Space X and some of the stuff with Tesla (mainly related to battery production), he has done more than many billionaires who would rather buy football clubs or hundred million dollar yachts. If he was able to control himself and act with just a bit more decorum he might be more respected. However calling rescuers names, constantly hyping cryptocurrency for fun and engaging in what effectively amounts to insider trading with the Tesla stock all earned him a bad reputation with most professionals.

Chilling and shilling are different words mate, shilling is what you're trying to say. But all of your points are right and valid, there's almost no difference from what Elon is doing these times. While in the past it was McAfee's spree but it didn't go long. NO McAfee is known not only to be making tweet and promoting token but have been engaged in many projects even put him as part of the advisory committee. Elon has not gone that far by directly promoting crypto project but rather choose one of the oldest coin (Doge). I do respect your own words and presumptions but if we do dissect out on what are the things that had been done by McAfee back in the past compared on what Elon is been doing
now then you can tell the difference.Elon doesnt shill out any projects or ICO trying to say that this one is a good one and simply skip out and find

Used to absolutely adore him and saw him as my role model until his recent interference in the crypto community. Definitely lost all the respect plus now I don't want to remotely associate myself with Tesla or any of its products. i have to agree here. McAfee received a lot of money just by endorsing several ICO projects before that ended up badly for the investors. if some of here remember, some projects here included his name on their title thread just to attract investors. whereas, with Elon, he doesn't need to accept that kind of payment, let's say from doge, because he doesn't need it. it is his own freewill why he is promoting doge. and he is also advising the public that this is a high risk investment.
now, the reputation of McAfee is not-so-good because of those failed projects under his name. elon, on the other hand, is promoting an old alt that has been in the market for years, and wanted to include in their payment system. won't compare these 2 though.

We’ll see this on the next decision of Elon Musk, but for now its hard to say that Elon will ended up like McAfee who supported many scam projects before. I personally don’t want the hype of Elon Musk because it looks like he is manipulating the market but since he’s a reputable business man, many tend to follow him. Hopefully, he wont hype scam projects as well, and keep supporting cryptocurrency until the end.

The problem I see with your reasoning is that if Elon wasn't Elon, but a more moderate Elon, would he ever in his damn life considered to fire rockets with passengers to Mars and start building a company for that? Would he have decided to build the car company called Tesla? Would he ever have decided to start the Boring Company, building underground tunnels to speed up traffic?
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and not assume he is some weird idiot who doesn't deserve respect. To me he is like an artist, most of which took drugs and drank tons of alcohol and then painted their hundred million dollar paintings.

Elon wouldn't have tried all these things he is doing if he wasn't out of his mind by nature.

I want to add one point though: Calling the rescuer names is not covered by the benefit of the doubt, That is just idiotic and deserves the highest disrespect!
