Hello

I'm fairly new to the futurebit miners but I do have a futurebit Apollo BTC full node.  I have tried to reformat and re sync the node ssd twice but it gets to a point where it says ther is a -2 space remaining on the drive and it never finishes the sync.  Any ideas on how to get it to complete?

Does your Full Node have 512GB NVMe drive? Bought it last year?
If yes, then you have to remove NVMe drive because it is no longer big enough to store the blockchain. You must purchase 1TB NVMe drive. See posts on previous page discussing this.

Good evening all,

1st of all I would like to thank the Futurebit-team for making it easy for nitwit's to start mining.

All running nicely and steady(I did had an issue with the 1st full node, but the new one just started downloading the chain)

For the interested co-miners I've modified my 6 Apollo's with a 120mm Noctua fan and 3D-printed 90-120mm adapter.
I've also added a picture with the values for 1 month running(total ran 3 months with this setup up)

Some might say I f-ed up the smooth design, but I care more for less noise (lower RPM's means less noise) as they are in my room. With this setup you can hardly hear them.

Units are currently on eco-mode for summer temperatures, but soon will increase again.

If people are interested I can sent the 3D-file for the 90-120mm adapter.

Hope this might help somebody if needed.

Is it picked up by your PC or laptop? That would have been my first troubleshooting step.
Figure out whether it's a problem with the hashboard / standard unit or the controller / full unit.
I would recommend the https://kano.is/ solo pool by kano. Not sure where solo mining sits on jstefanop's roadmap!

It's a brand new batch 1 device that I unboxed a few days ago. Setting up a dedicated rpi zero for testing will be the next step that weekend. That's way more effort to setup compared to the full node extension, that's why I didn't do it as first thing

Oh don't worry, you can also test the hashboard with any other PC! Doesn't have to be a Raspberry Pi and not even a Linux PC.
It can just be your daily driver, simply to quickly verify the hashboard is fine.

Honestly, let's tag @jstefanop and maybe also send him a message / e-mail. I'm out of ideas, too; maybe RMA will be the best way to handle this.

PS: Please add width (or height) tags (like I just did when quoting you) to your images so that they don't fill the whole screen (especially on lower resolutions).

I preferred to cut the chassis, instead of narrowing the funnel in order to keep flow and reduce the risk of noises due to turbulence.

I preferred to cut the chassis, instead of narrowing the funnel in order to keep flow and reduce the risk of noises due to turbulence.

While I don't know how it performs with the funnel, I personally just placed a 120mm PC fan simply sitting on top of the miner (without modifications to the hole's size) and it already drastically reduced noise and heat.
So, if anyone wants to modify the 3D model, maybe attempt that before cutting your miners.

New Apollo user here. Can anyone point me in the right direction to allow Fully Noded on iOS connect to the node? Ideally I’d like to do this over Tor like you can with Umbrel. As an alternate method I could VPN in and connect to the private ip of the Apollo. I tried to VPN in and connect but it does not work. I used username futurebit and the rpc pass shown in the Apollo settings but it would not connect. Thanks in advance.

Hi,  

I got my first Apollo yesterday and initially it was behaving as it should as far as I can tell.

I did a bunch of things, like install a VPN and a system monitor and also clicked on 'Software Update' which downloaded and installed about 250MB of updates. Now it is running Armbian 22.08.4 Focal.

Also set up a mining pool account.

But now the miner is misbehaving. The red light blinks intermittently, blinking starts after a 1sec burst of fan noise, and the Dashboard (localhost:5000/miner) then announces 'Miner is off line  Try to start it'

When the red light goes solid again about 1-2 minutes later, the Dashboard changes to 'Online' but the hashrate and power consumption is zero. Nothing shows under Pools (but something did show under Pools yesterday, albeit without connecting properly).

This cycle seems to continue indefinitely, including after several reboots.

Any hints for how to fix this (and what it is and what caused it) would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if installing the 250 MB was the best idea. A shitload of things could be installed now that interfere with the miner.

You also didn't mention what settings (mode, fan settings) you are running the miner with.

I had set the miner to all three setting to try it out, left the fan on auto. But it did not seem to make any difference, the fan was not running any faster on turbo vs eco or balanced. But it was never properly connected to a mining pool, so I ignored that.

Anyway, I have downloaded and flashed the apollo-btc-mcu2_250722.img.xz onto a different 16GB SD card and started the Apollo with that new SD card. It was again working as it should, i.e. red light starts flashing and the ASICs make heat even when not connected to a network. Did not complete the initial setup steps this time, password still futurebit123, but tried to connect to WiFi and set up a VPN before connecting the miner to a pool.

But then I got no internet connectivity, although WiFi was connected.

So therefore I shut down my WiFi, Apollo and laptop to start fresh.

The Apollo decided not to start at all, just make a lot of fan noise. Twice. Then it started and ended crashing due to unknown error, rebooting. Now it's running and mining (for jstefanop.apollodefault), using 80W for 1.29 Th/s in ECO mode.
But I still cannot connect to the internet.

Seems like Apllo is so intent on mining and downloading the Bitcoin blockchain that it's next to impossible to set it up with a VPN before it leaks your IP address and announces to the world that you try to mine Bitcoin.

I might be wrong, this is not my area of expertise, but I'm not impressed so far.

I got to stop typing, I'm spitting chips after a wasted night of little sleep trying to make this Apollo work.

Is it normal for the Apollo BTC to run its fan at full speed after shutting down?
Any way to fix that? Or what am I doing wrong?
