El Salvador has seen its bold Bitcoin strategy gain renewed global attention after a cheeky exchange on X between prediction platform Kalshi and President Nayib Bukele. Kalshi posted, “25% chance El Salvador’s $BTC reserve is worth $1 billion before December 👀,” to which Bukele coyly replied, “I could do the funniest thing right now…” — a playful tease that captivates both skeptics and supporters alike.
The potential for reaching that $1 billion milestone isn’t purely speculative. According to recent data from the country’s official Bitcoin Office, El Salvador holds around 6,282.18 BTC, valued at approximately $702 million, with a weekly increase of about 8BTC  . Other sources bolster the bullish narrative: as of mid-July, Bitcoin’s rally above $122,000 had pushed the reserves’ value past $760 million  . By mid‑August, estimates placed the total reserves at $770 million.

This is one of the few steps important to support bitcoin as a strategic national plan. El Salvador misses the essential stages to be done to the economy to be ready to integrate with botcoin. People have the right to ise bitcoin but have no ways to do so because the economic model is still fiat-debt based.

By creating more btc friendly markets, the demand for bitcoin would increase and the economy can get rid of the dependance to fiat money and mainly the forced tie with the US dollar. In the other hand, it's always great to see people being able to use bitcoin for daily transactions.
