If gambling campaigns find another place to promote, they will inevitably stop promoting here, regardless of the quality of the posts.
I already see some sponsored by some casinos posts on Twitter. Others now have their own forums and activity is not bad at all because it just a collection of only gamblers. The advantage Bitcointalk had/has onto of being the oldest crypto forum is that it's one place where a service looking for crypto related clients would find a collection of them. Twitter and Facebook just has a mixture of different users, some of which still think Bitcoin is scam and others completely don't even know about the existence of bitcoin.

This is what happened with mixers, which was moved to another forum, although the results was not guaranteed.
The Mixers were the perfect only Bitcoin service and the only place they would get clients, at least on the clearnet, without being demonized was this forum. I don't think them making paid posts on Social media would help/work for them.

... In the past, options were available between ICOs, crypto exchanges, mixers, tokens,...etc, but since 2020, most of the promotion has moved to social media. Then the options became between mixers and gambling, and mixers were banned.

If gambling campaigns find another place to promote, they will inevitably stop promoting here, regardless of the quality of the posts. This is what happened with mixers, which was moved to another forum, although the results was not guaranteed...

I don't think I could have summed it up any better.

There is also link building and brand building. Link building is one of the few cases where even spam may work for advertisers, but its importance has declined in recent years as search engines have found ways to deal with the link spam problem, which of course is not limited to Bitcointalk but the whole web. Brand building is in contrast benefitted by high quality content.

You who registered in 2013 surely lived through the first few years of quality posts but the merit system was introduced in January 2018 to deal with the spam problem that did not come overnight. As of today we are better in terms of overall quality posts than in 2017 and basically today practically only casinos are advertised.

Good point.

Nope, there was a porn campaign but it only last for 4 weeks.

It's kind of surprising why porn doesn't really attractive in this forum, I think nerds or geeks are high likely fall to porn addiction considering women didn't find nerds are attractive and they mostly alone.

Probably V-tuber or 2D porn could be an another option.

Yes, I think merit has improved the situation a bit. But I think there is plenty of air to the upside still. And even a little visual upgrade, a slightly more attractive CSS theme for example and better mobile usability, could already help, because it would make good forum threads "shareable" on other social media as I already wrote in another post. This would make it possible to reach out for both forum and social media audiences.

Of course the mixer ban has contributed to the reduction of campaigns. But I remember mixers weren't that active in campaigns until 3-4 years ago. There were always a few mixers but most of the campaigns were always run by casinos and ICOs, in the early years of the campaign boom (around 2016/2017) also altcoin projects like Waves were quite active. ICOs have past their hype and are also more heavily regulated now, so it's not surprising there are only few ICO campaigns left. But in general casinos almost always made up 50% or more of the active campaigns. So I don't see that big of a difference to the olden times.

In general privacy-respecting services which are not classic mixers (and thus are not banned, but which could have problems to advertise on the big platforms) should do well here. Perhaps also smaller campaigns with 2-3 slots could be an option.

Maybe I don't remember, but I think we had few more NSFW campaigns in past, but it was already long time ago, so, I can be wrong. I think there was such kind of campaign related to one ICO and maybe one promoting web camera website. B ut offcourse, I can be wrong.
Anyway, it's possible that one or few porn kind of campaigns can appear, but somehow it's difficultto expect that such thing will become frequent here.

Mixer ban indeed affected the post count in the forum. It is foolish to think otherwise. We can discuss mixers but we can’t promote them which is how people can make money. No money = no incentive to post

It looks like the forum is on a constant decline. If more people lose interest in the forum, In a few years we might end up losing sig camps completely.

Has BitcoinTalk given any hints about allowing mixers again, not just mixer signature campaigns? What were the main reasons they restricted mixers in the first place? If mixers are reintroduced, how might it change the community view here on bitcointalk stance on privacy and security? What rules or measures could be put in place to ensure mixers are used responsibly and legally?

No. There are no hints. It looks like a permanent ban so far.

Theymos banned mixer ads/sigs because mixers usually are in bed with evil people who do shit like money laundering which is a federal crime in the US.

The admin don't wanna end up in jail. Life still can be good without mixers. Sometimes it is smart to avoid taking more risks. The risk/reward ratio for shilling mixers isn't worth it.

Can you suggest a service that you think would be viable for advertising here on the forum?
Crypto exchange services for quick exchanges, like we had a few months ago, like Zeusmex, which unfortunately didn't last long due to the company's insolvency. But other companies in the same industry can emerge and offer the same type of service.

E-commerce sites, online stores that sell geek products, gears, computer peripherals that accept Bitcoin. I believe the ideal audience for this type of business is here on the forums.

Crypto derivatives exchanges like Bingx, Bybit (researching historically, they have already promoted a campaign).

There are several different niches that could advertise here that are involved with Bitcoin.

We can suggest such companies the idea of promoting their services on this forum.

I'm really interested in knowing this kind of sites, that's if only they sells electronics at an affordable price in Bitcoin. So please, if any has an idea of a this kind of online stores who ships goods to all parts of the country, most especially Nigeria, I will be very interested.

However, just as Joker_jouse said that the only problem will be finding it difficult to attract these kind of stores to come promote their products on the forum, but moreover, we never can tell, as they may have been looking for opportunities like this, but there was no one to inform them, so giving this a try is never a bad idea, because the aim of every business man is to make more profits.

I'm posting this here to notify some of you who have signature campaign post quota, because some of you might have posted in thread that was moved from the gambling discussion board to the off-topic section. I know most signature campaigns don't count posts that were moved to the off-topic section. This means if some of your posts were moved to off-topic, you will need to post again to cover the posts that were moved.

Check the off-topic section or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;sa=showPosts to see if any of your posts have been affected.

I see that 10 threads from the gambling discussion board have been moved off-topic and those threads have been locked by the mods.
Always check posts daily whether anything goes off-topic or not, at least 1 went off-topic so far. Grin

Btw, now the signature campaign is more than 20 active campaigns, maybe many more will come, lately many casinos have come here and the managers offer marketing campaigns on the forum so it's good especially casinos still dominate.

Well, some of these topics seem to be philosophical rather than having valid and useful points to share..
People have to check their posts whenever they post in a poor quality topic. Otherwise nothing new from what you said for established players.

Btw, now the signature campaign is more than 20 active campaigns, maybe many more will come, lately many casinos have come here and the managers offer marketing campaigns on the forum so it's good especially casinos still dominate.
Gambling related campaigns dominated the forums after the ban of mixers. These campaigns were almost head to head most of time in the previous year. In fact I think exchanges are less represented in the forum.

It was about time the moderators acted. The gambling board was getting filled with more and more less important topics that probably were just created to fuel spam. I think they (the moderators) got awakened with a recent complaint in Meta about multiple duplicate threads in gambling discussion.

That board should be kept as clean as possible so that the advertisers also get value for their money and not just spam.

That board has been full of spam for years and and that hasn't stopped advertisers from coming here to spend their money on advertising, quite the contrary. They were the ones who advertised the most before mixers, they kept advertising when many mixers started to do so and they still do today, even though it is one of the most spammy boards, probably along with BD. Degenerate gamblers don't need “quality” conversations to register on a site and spend a lot of money. With mixers it was different because potential mixer users tend to be more tech-savy but Gambling boards are great as they are to be of use to casinos.

Still waiting for users who said they post for fun and didn't looking back to check their post history. Roll Eyes

Usually there's always a new thread in gambling discussion that discuss about religion, human relation, ethic, personality etc, but I don't see any new thread today, it seems they're scared if the moderators will move their thread to off topic because it will waste their time and effort.

I think they (the moderators) got awakened with a recent complaint in Meta about multiple duplicate threads in gambling discussion.
But, the complaint and the thread that moved or locked by moderators are different lol. They did nothing for the thread that complained in Meta.

Yeah, it would be better if they would do such cleaning more often. Most of these topics who got moved don't add any value to forum. It's just made to feed spamners.
If moving one of such spam megathreads affected someone's campaign quota, they probably should think about their posting habbits. I have no idea what valuable someone can say in 66th page of "Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more?" topic.

Crypto.Games casino is one of the campaigns that will soon reach its 1 decade because it is currently running 9 years... Wow, I just realized that there is a campaign this long.

10 years of CryptoGames and over 9 years old signature campaign. All payments processed  Grin

That means this is a record-breaking campaign, right? Will there be a casino that lasts even longer? Well I see there are some casinos whose campaigns run hundreds of weeks.
