~snip~

He need to quit, but only after one good farewell fight. I don't want to remember his last fight as a defeat against Yordenis Ugas. Let him fight against Errol Spence or Mikey Garcia. Even if he gets beaten, there is some respect in it. Having watched Pacquaio for well over a decade, it is really hard to get in terms with his recent loss against Ugas. But it needs to be seen whether Pacquaio has the appetite for another fight. He looks extremely exhausted and may retire from professional boxing altogether to concentrate on politics.

That's something I dont want to see. That's like a death wish for the Pacman. It's very evident that his body is totally different and is slowing down. What every sports analyst want for Pacquiao is to retire and avoid himself getting beaten badly if continue his passion.
That was actually a good fight, considering the advantages Ugas has.
Ugas probably knew how Pacquiao fight, while Pacquiao only had 12 days to prepare for his new opponent and Ugas is probably a total stranger for him.
Ugas is younger, bigger, and taller.
IMO, that fight is actually a good farewell fight for Pacman.
I kinda feel sad after he apologizes to the fans for his loss.

WTF? What actually happened? How did Yordenis Ugás won the fight? This is like the worst thing that can ever happen to Manny Pacquiao. If he had lost to Spence, then it was still OK. But a loss to Ugas? It is really difficult to digest the outcome of this match. I understand that Manny, at 42 years was well past his prime. But we have seen other boxers like Mayweather giving very good performances even in their 40s. Anyway, I am glad about one thing. This time the jury didn't made any mistake. Their scorecard (115-113, 116-112, 116-112) matched with those from third parties like CBS Sports.

You shouldn't be dramatizing, it was a good fight with a decent ending, without a knockout and total superiority of one boxer. This is clearly not the worst thing that could happen to Pacquiao, now he may well end his career on a high note and everyone will remember him as a great boxer who performed with dignity in every match.
We have seen worst of Pacquiao, getting knock out by Marquez, a decision lost to Bradley, (which is the worst for me), and then the Horn robbery. Yes, I know that it is hard to digest the Ugas lost as Manny is the favorite, but that is sports, so it's really an upset but we have to take it and accept.

Just sad that this will be his last fight, however, let's just remember him for the fights that he gave to us in the last 15-20 years.

I will not agree that it was Manny Pacquiao worst fight. I don't think so. However there are some interesting stories being developed recently.
Have you came across this news where Pacquiao to consult with eye specialist.
I mean why would he need to go for an eye specialist although he did had a hit over his left eye and that were stitched too afterwards. Media creating drama ?

I did not say that it was Manny's worst fight, I said we have seen worst.

I will assume that it was customary that after a fight, boxers need to go to doctors to assess their overall health. And we have seen Manny fight through the years, so it's better to have his eye check to detect any issues as early as possible as everyone said, he is not getting any younger and the wear and tear might show after this fight. So for me its not media creating drama, or probably it is, for click-bait.

Yes, father times are going to come whether we like it or not specially for athletes.

So it's better for Pacman to quit, no need for him to fight another, nothing to prove, he has cemented his legacy. One of the greatest of all time, regardless of what his critics are going to say in the future. And sure hall of famer as well. If ever he goes to politics and run for the Presidency that is his choice, but he has given us a lot of good fights and wish him the best.

Buboy Fernandez might retire with him as well.  Grin

Personally, I don't want to see him fight again, he is a damage good already from his last performance. His mind might be telling him to fight again, but the body is not willing anymore. Even in the weigh in, when I say his body, I said that its kinda soft as compare to his previous weigh in, the abs is no longer visible. So I would agree that Father Time it is, old age has come so he shouldn't fight anyone, specially with the likes of Spence or even Garcia as this boxers are still in their prime.

There's a video spreading in social media where pacquaio talks about his experiences to his wife and looking at his face Ugas really wreck him so bad and I'm afraid that he will get more worse from that if he fight another big opponent this year or maybe on next. So best for him to retire since its really good to enjoy your money while you are healthy compare if you got hit by parkinson disease or other worse from that.

That's why I dare to say that almost 70% of gamblers who bet on the match lost their money, because many gamblers made pacquaio their favorite for various reasons and like me, many of my friends also lost their money hoping that pacquaio would win

To be honest, I don't understand why you guys bet on Pacquiao. The odds are not attractive.

If I'm not mistaken around @1.2, @1.3? Too low for putting up a risk.

Or maybe you choose the winning method or other betting options instead? What are the odds for these? No idea here.
The question is Do all who posts here are real bettors ? or just pretending to be just to add discussion ? yeah Filipino mostly bets because of their IDOL and not because who is advantageous or not.
But practically looking at the Odds , it is Ugas who seems to be favorable and also stats can tell that Ugas is more to win in this one.

well this may be the last bet of Pacman's fan that is why many put their money On him no matter what is the result is.

ML for Pacquiao is not attractive as the oddsmaker put it at 1.25 if I'm not wrong but betting on winning method with odds above 2, I found it attractive and tempted to put some on Pacman via Decision as I think that I would be an easy decision win for Manny as Ugas is flat-footed and Manny will put on a boxing clinic but I'm totally wrong hehe.

He'll surely retire there were reports that after the fight she asked his wife if he really losses and his wife nodded, Pacquiao, being a good husband he will listen to what his wife will say, even his mother wants him to retire he overextend himself, his mind still want to but his body is not responding anymore from the motivation, he set up a lot of records that will take years to be broken.

Good for him to listen with her wife and her mom, enough fame and enough for those many achievements that he already gained!

Nothing to ask both careers and luxurious lifestyle. He should focus now with his good deeds,
inside or outside politics as long as he's doing his legacy continuing all those charity works.

Pacquiao legacy inside and outside this sport will always be remembered.

Lack of stamina, he's already 42 in age and what do we expect even he's minds still has it but the body movements are no longer the same.
An aged, experienced, and well-trained Manny has still lots of stamina, it's just that he suffer leg cramps on his fight (at least according to him) and it's too painful to bare especially for boxing with 12 rounds, many speculate due to his age as its prone one or over training.
Well it seems he changed a lot, I don't see the real Manny Pacquiao on this match, it seems he is very weak in this fight. I saw he has a very slow movement compared to the last fight. During his interview after the fight that was, he said, because of his leg cramps, so that is a sign that he is old enough to give a fight. I think that is enough, he give already had so many fights and entertainment, it is time for him to rest and resign from this kind of career. Just a fun fact, he had ads regarding body pain killer drugs [ALAXAN] but he had leg cramps.

I definitely agree with this.

He should retire soon because of his age, because even though he still got the power punches, but he never have enough stamina to withstand a proper training, diet, and punches from his opponents unlike before, in his good old days. However, he is still the one legendary boxer for me, no one could ever change that. The only thing is, he must admit that he's getting older and focus on his family, new career, and so on but not boxing because a serious injury could do bad on his body because of his age.

He has an excuse in that fight, so probably if he still chooses to fight again, another excuse would not be accepted again if he gets defeated. He said his legs were tight during the fight that's why he can't move his usual way, we actually did not see the move that we saw during his fight against Thurman, so let's give him the benefit of the doubt, one more fight and if he lose, then it's over.
On the eve of the match between Manny Pacquaio and Errol Spence Jr, Pacquaio said the reason he returned to boxing was because he wanted to have a really clean fight without any drama, but in the end the match was canceled due to Spence injury.
But it seems that Pacquaio reasoning changed after ugas became Spence substitute opponent, because it was clear that pacquaio wanted to reclaim the belt that was revoked by the world boxing federation and give it to ugas for free at the time , i think in that match pacquaio was too eager to beat ugas with a knockout defeat and it drains he stamina . we all know the current pacquaio is not the pacquaio of three years ago who is able to move fast and aggressively, I think his legs are starting to weaken and slow down because of the age factor.

We saw him slowed down in that fight, and he was not able to hit Ugas because he had a problem moving his feet. I don't know, maybe he overtrained or maybe you are right that he was aiming for the KO that drained his energy in the early rounds.

Well from a sporting point of view, they are just excuses, I just hope he's making those excuses to go back to the ring and give us more fights, because according to him he said that night that it would take 1 month to decide whether to quit boxing or not, it also has its political commitments.
Maybe this time Pacquiao wants to have everything on a low key, take his time and decide if he will give us those fights that we like to see so much, it would be a shame if he left the boxing. We must also take into account that he is 42 years old and the years do not pass in vain and more in boxing, the preparation is stronger and his body does not respond the same as when an athlete is younger.

I think that he is already planning on that, he is trying to run for President so it's a hard time balancing that. I agree that he should stop fighting also I think he is a resilient one, I mean he is basically old in terms of how a boxer should be, and he should have those injuries a long time ago.

Most of us see him that way, win or lose he's the legendary Manny Pacquiao that we will always be proud. He brings entertainment to this sport every fan and viewer can attest to what he brings to this sport.

Maybe it's time to let other fighters to build their own journey and be well respected, lots of new young bloods who also want to follow his steps.

No need to push for another rematch. Time now to enjoy life with his family and friends.

As experts said, it will take years or decades before someone would become an 8th division world champion, that alone is already something he can be proud of, we just can't put him as a GOAT because he is not an American which is probably the Americans would not want to give him that honor.

He is an accomplished boxer, because of his hard work, it already changes his life, and is financially free now.

you are right, it's time for him to enjoy retirement with his family.

I agree, I love Manny but a loss is a loss and I think that Ugas won the fight, not by a huge margin or anything like that but he won legitimately, I think I have read that Ugas is willing to fight Manny again if he wants so if Manny wants to beat him then the door is open, he just need to prepare himself and find a good strategy against Ugas as he was being countered with very hard punches during the fight, I just hope this is not the end of Manny as I would like to see him fight again and walking out as a winner.

I never see Manny beaten that easily by any opponent, even in the fight against Mayweather where he loses via UD, there are still people who think he wins, but in this fight, it's very clear that he loses the fight and even himself admitted it. Maybe the reason why he loses is that he was not able to prepare for the style of Ugas, if only Spence was not injured, we might have seen a different outcome of the fight.

Not a huge margin but you could really see that there is already some gap in terms of performance and stamina. Manny does thrown out lots of punches but only a few do really able to make a hit or it did land
not like on Yugas that counterpunches did really make out some good hit and that what gives him some edge even though it did end up on unanimous but there are lots who arent convinced into those score cards
which i could say to be bullshit and why they cant just accept the truth that greatness wouldnt last forever or you would remain undefeated or cant really be winning from time to time.

Lets just accept and move on because this is sports. You neither win or lose or draw.

^ A perfect explanation and this is what I have said before on this thread, Manny Pacquiao will have a chance that will probably loss and now it has happened. Even though you are in the underdog's favor there is still possible that you will be able to win the match. However, I also appreciated Ugas's attitude, he really respects World Boxing Champion Manny Pacquaio, after the fight he thanks Manny for the opportunity that he said. That should be the world of sports games. Nevertheless, do you think this is the last fight of Manny?

We saw the respect from Ugas, that's why he wins because he is humble.
What we saw is just like a David vs Goliath fight because of the size difference which is very obvious,  and we saw how Goliath beat our David, but that's alright, it is what it is, one fighter wins, the other loses.

Nevertheless, do you think this is the last fight of Manny?

In his statement, he considers retiring but it's not final yet, so as long as there's no formal announcement from him about retiring, then we can assume that we will still see him fight again.

The fact that he gave some hint before, I think a few years ago. I cannot remember if it came from him or her wife that he just has to retire and he's considering it.

But after that then a fight of him came. It is true that these hints will remain as it is until he finally says and gives an official statement for his retirement.

As Pacquiao said, he had done enough already for boxing, and boxing had done a lot for him. So yeah, he should retire while he can still enjoy the fruits of his sacrifices. Don't wait to suffer major body damage. He's not getting young. Time to give the ring to younger generation. His record is already astonishing and can be lined up to boxing greats like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson.
