the discussion of not being over aggressive in your Bitcoin long term investment, in expecting a bull market, in a bull market, or during the market dip can not be over emphasized, because it has a great impact when considering a good long term investment approach. When you invest above your discretionary income, there is already a default in the system because there is going to be an attempt of selling either in lost or in profits when you are still supposed to be holding and adding more values not selling.

I think that you @Tmoonz are failing/refusing to sufficiently distinguish aggressive bitcoin investment with overaggressive bitcoin investment and introducing way more confusion into this discussion than necessary.

If there is available discretionary income, aggressive buying isn't a bad idea if the investor is able to control his allocation amongst buying, building back up funds and discretionary spending. If this is done very well without overly concentration on one side, it gives the investor an advantage in his portfolio size since he front loaded his investment.

This is quite different from over aggressiveness, where the investor pays no attention to some other important parts of his investment and concentrates on either, Buying more Bitcoin more than his discretionary, or putting more of his discretionary into Bitcoin, or failing to build back up funds and concentrating on buying.

If there is available and/or a reasonable amount of discretionary income, been aggressive isn't bad, provided you are not getting overly aggressive in your buys.

You don't really need to work multiple jobs to increase your income, you could be intentional about increasing your competence in your area of specialization, upgrade your skills and take advantage of better offers.

You could also find a way around your finances to decrease expenses so you can have more discretionary income available. The truth is that most people are wasteful and don't plan their finances adequately. A lot of guys would be amazed at how much they could save from what previously went into expenses if they could sit down and plan their finances properly as the paycheck arrives. The extra saved money from decrease in expenses can be put towards increasing your aggressiveness in your DCA buys.

It true that learning new skills and cutting unnecessary expenses can give you more money to put into DCA. But not everyone has much extra spending to cut.

There are some investors who are  already living on a tight budget and cutting expenses may not help much In that case, learning a better skill, getting a better paying job, or finding another source of income may help more. I think increasing your income and reducing unnecessary spending can both help you accumulate more Bitcoin.

Investment method never gives you the certainty of success. Investment method is the purchasing method, by which you continue to buy continuously or buy in small amounts. Even if a person uses the best investment method, the success of his investment is not certain.

If the Bitcoin market was under someone's control, then we could say that for this reason we can be successful from Bitcoin investment, but the Bitcoin market is not under anyone's control. However, if a person can hold it for a long time, then his chances of success are much higher, compared to short-term investment. To hold it for a long time, a person needs patience, discipline, proper planning, knowledge, etc.

I agree ,even the word ‘bitcoin’ explains itself which means investing bit by bit which will help you develop better financial habits and also means you are building knowledge and experience so there shouldn’t be a thing as thinking that you acquire so much money in bitcoin without understanding its Rules and principles.

It all starts and ends with your mindset, the earlier you train your mindset the bitcoin way the more you grow, even when you experience bad days like the rise and fall of prices,it wouldn’t mean anything to you because at the end of the day bitcoin isn’t like your savings account where a certain amount of money you put in is supposed to be fixed.

How much Bitcoin shouldn't be a question since the amount anyone wants to buy or invest with shouldn't be anyone's business, they’re msking a mistake that needs correction and the right question to help correct the impression of waiting for the dip before they buy is if they can get the right timing of the market.
It is a personal question for those who are making this mistake , because waiting for the dip dont worth it. The reason why people who wait to buy bitcoin needs to look into this well is because after they wait to what will be the next? The time they waited to buy the dip and the amount they used in buying if it is worth waiting. Most people wait to buy the dip and at the end they just buy only small amount, which they would have done better if they understood accumulating of bitcoin no how small but to be consistent.

Sometimes they might think they've succeeded in buying the DIP but you actually look at it you will sometimes find that from the time they starte
d waiting for the DIP to when they finally bought, the price of bitcoin has gone high enough that a DIP then was still higher that when they started waiting so while they may been telling themselves that waiting was worth it, a careful examination will tell that it was the wrong choice.
Personally I will never see the point in waiting for a DIP as an individual investor, especially with the DCA still there, why wait when I can buy right there and then.
My goodness, what an in-depth examination or analysis of the dip. One of the highest! Diverse reasons why waiting for the dip isn't a good idea but here is a clear picture that explains why you don't really have to wait. You are waiting when you would have been higher than you just bought waiting for the dip. Then what is the need of waiting when an investor can do better not waiting? No need waiting.

When these that @zerovinson stated happens, that's a total plus for a DCA investor!

If someone has discretionary income and stops buying regularly and just waits for a drop, then the price can often rise even more before that drop comes. Even if the price starts to fall, he may postpone buying in the hope of a bigger drop. As a result, the search for so-called cheap prices can gradually turn into an indefinite wait.

One problem i also see while waiting for a perfect dip is even when price finally drops as an investor they might still hesitate to buy. Having the mindset that it will still fall, and will keep on waiting their own better price.
That why a regular DCA is useful to free self from that pressure. Don’t have to border urself with if today price is at the bottom or top. When the money all set up you just have to keep accumulating and the market decides on the price of each purchase.

This has been discussed many times before that waiting for the dip is not the best option. Real Investors does not hesitate to buy at any price because they know the value of Bitcoin and its worth the risk. As long as you have the money and understand it, you should buy and this is not going to be new to any newbies.

In addition, unless person wants to put himself under pressure. The main purpose of DCA is the help an investor avoid unnecessary stress or trying to panic, otherwise it doesn’t determine the success. You don’t need to bother about the price. You will continue to buy gradually, instead of putting all your money at the same time.

I think the problem is that “basic knowledge” is often used without actually explaining what knowledge is supposed to be necessary before a newbie can get started. To me if someone has discretionary fund and wants to buy a small amount of bitcoin, they do not need to understand every technical or economical aspect of bitcoin before making that decision.

Huh?  Why would they need to buy a "small amount"?

Why can't they buy however the fuck amount they want to buy, so long as the amount that they are buying is within the amount of their discretionary funds. Why would they have to limit themselves to a small amount, especially if they are exercising their own judgement regarding both whether to buy and how much to buy?

Maybe @Livingleged doesn’t understand that the term “small amount” is a subjective statement and as so, what one person could deem as small could be seen as significantly large to another person, so I don’t see why the amount has to be artificially limited simply because the person is a newbie.

If a guy has discretionary funds available to him, and decides that he wants to allocate a certain portion of it into bitcoin, the question he should be asking himself is whether the amount he wants to allocate is appropriate for his financial predicament and not whether it qualifies as “small” or not.

Of course, there are some things that are worth understanding, such as volatility, custody, private keys and the risk for losing funds.
Huh?  Why do any of those need to be known prior to getting started? If a guy (presumptively an adult and not a baby) has discretionary funds, then doesn't he have full discretion in determining whether and/or how to spend such discretionary funds, or are we going to treat him as if he were a baby (or retarded)?  From my perspective, that comes off as patronizing to treat any other person that way merely based on his being a "bitcoin newbie."  You want to presume that the guy has no already existing knowledge, skills and/or experience to make his own determination based on what he knows or does not know.  Sure we know that he has calculated that he has discretionary funds, but you want to presume he is otherwise retarded?

Once again, @Livingleged is mixing up what is “worth understanding” with what “most be understood before getting started”, those are two different concepts.

Just because a person is new to bitcoin doesn’t mean we have to treat them like they don’t have any common sense. And of course the things he mentioned (volatility, custody, private keys, blah blah blah) these are useful things to know, but why make them prerequisites for buying when they can just figure out their discretionary income, buy and learn as they go?

For Bitcoin investment, acumulation is strictly with what we can afford which is our discreationary income, anything outside that, might it's consequences attached, we know that quantity is very important and it makes much difference on a long-term, but we can go above our means, provide that we are consistent with what our discreationary income, we can grow a reason amount of Bitcoin Bitcoin portfolio overtime.

I think it is just a matter of time, investor's discreationary income may increase in the process which means more stashes of Bitcoin can be added to any investor portfolio, however, I'm against anything that could lead to pressure in the course of investing in Bitcoin as it could make us to do what's not right.

As an investor,it is wrong to invest above your means, instead only invest with your discretionary income as it will help you minimise the pressure to panic sell if the price is going down. However, I think the reason think some investors sell their bitcoin early is because they invested beyond their means, and when they couldn't sustain it,they fall back to sell their bitcoin investment and that is an investor should avoid investing beyond their means so that they will not sell their bitcoin early or panic sell during the bear season..

If an investors want to increase the size of their discretionary income, they need to increase their hustlings or work multiple jobs to increase their incomes since their discretionary income is figure out from their incomes, but if they have yet to secure additional jobs, they should just manage whatever discretionary income that they can figure out at the moment instead of buying beyond their means.
It is not a must for someone to increase their hustling or multi work for his/her discretionary income to increase, a discretionary income can be increased by cutting off or reducing some expenses that are not necessarily too Important.

It's also not necessary a must for an investor to invest inconveniently just because they are eager to invest , the discretionary income can be saved and accumulated for some period to be used to invest conveniently.

Multi working with different jobs can even sometimes lessen ones discretionary income, because some work added to the previous one can be a form of distraction to the previous one, and if payment are being given based on performance, it might likely affect ones discretionary income instead of increasing it.

Multi working also can sometimes cause harm to one's health, and instead of the discretionary income to increase, it might decrease with additional emergency health funds added.

Yeah, I agree with you i think some new investors are still confusing about this this dip. Because they think that waiting for the dip will be the best thing for them which is not, any investors that choose to wait for the dip means is not ready to invest because those that take the Bitcoin investment seriously will not be thinking about the dip all the time.

Before people find the Bitcoin investments so difficult but now with this DCA method it make the investment be more easier with less stress, previous years back some investors will be thinking about all their money that they would put in investments at once, but his DCA help us accumulate gradually to the point where we can get a good return.

Waiting for the dip to happen before we accumulate has been talked about a lot and many people have giving their own analysis and majority has said waiting for the dip before accumulating Bitcoin is wrong because it's going to waste your time.
I think the talk and discussion about waiting for the dip should not be discussed here again except a newbie ask a question about it, all old members that visit this thread is already aware that it's wrong to wait for a dip to happen before accumulating or starting Bitcoin investment journey.
The only set of people that should wait for a dip before accumulating are traders or Short term investors.

I think it is high time we bury for good this ideology of a "perfect dip" because there is really no such thing as a perfect dip in the market...Even when the price drops like it mostly do, no one knows can know for sure if a bigger drop will even come or not..And the more folks keep trying to figure out the possibility of the occurrence of a dip or not, the more time they keep wasting with years continuously rolling by with them doing nothing...Moreso, the presence of your discretionary income should always be a go-ahead to either kickstarting your accumulation journey or front loading your investment...Folks should never rely on the dips before they can make purchases coz the occurrence of dips are very much uncertain...

I do feel that people may find themselves waiting for a perfect dip to be a way of staying out of the game. If a person does correctly predict a correction, they cannot be sure that they will know where the bottom is when it happens. The price may drop even lower and then bounce back up to the price level that they expected. It's at this moment that a consistent DCA strategy can take a lot of the emotional stress out of the equation. Rather than attempting to foresee each short-term shift in the tides, investors can look instead to make regular investment allocations following a plan. While traders might use different strategies given they're looking for longer-term price movement, for the long-term investor consistency may be more important than getting the perfect entry.

Do you know why the discussion of such subject can not be discontinued completely even if it seem to be a repeated discussion? The reason is that, discussion lead to another, somebody might be trying to make a point and mention it, so it might not be avoided totally, even if it doesn't come from a question asked by a newbie.

When folks are discussing about Bitcoin investment, there are possibilities that many discussion can be revisited, however, it depends on the discussion in progress, I may not be against your suggestion, but I have to write this down to serve as a reminder that, provided that the conversation is centered on Bitcoin investment, we should expect things like this more often.

You cannot continue to cut down your expenses forever when inflation is eating up the value of your income and before you know it, you might not have any discretionary income available again. This is why you see that in government jobs, there are promotions from time to time for increase in your income in order for you to be able to meet up with you financial needs and other things. Human is bound to grow financially and that is why you need to look for a means to increase your income either by getting a second means of income in order for you to be able to continue buying bitcoin overtime.

You can also learn to higher degree to improve your qualifications for a better pay. However, you don't need to be piling up money in order for you to invest conveniently when you can just buy with DCA when your discretionary income is available, only if your discretionary income is very little that you cannot buy immediately, but have to pile it up for two or three times before it reaches a tangible amount that you can use to buy bitcoin.

Multiwork will do more good to you financially than harm this one that you're only focused on the negative side of multi jobs. This is why there is part time job and overtime job in order for you to use to boost up your income. I was working a full time job but along the line, inflation started eating up all my income to the point that I would be left with little to survive with. I had to quit the full time job and applied for a part time and this gave me the opportunity to also work in different places on the same field. Everything is planning and time management. I didn't have any issues of sickness or over working myself because the pay was x3 and that gave me joy and kept me going. In my country, no one can survive with just one job only if it's a high paying job because inflation will eat up your transport funds.

It's better that anyone who doesn't have a regular discretionary income should work on his income in order for him to have a regular discretionary income so that, he can keep his DCA ongoing overtime, till he reaches his bitcoin target and escape from poverty.

Their is no way you wont talk about it because it has to do with investment and bitcoin investment is a journey.  It is possible someone that participate on discussions here who understand why waiting to buy is not good but can still make a decision to wait.  In the journey of investment anything can happen,  what you think people know today they can do or say the opposite tomorrow. The main subject of this thread is about outline of Bitcoin investment ideas, so everything thst has to do with bitcoin investment is expected to be talked about but people needs to make the discussion look unique.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

Increasing aggressiveness does not come from discretionary income increasing, but instead choosing to invest higher amounts within the same income.

So for example, it could be argued that if a guy had weekly discretionary funds of $100, and he had been investing 33% or $33 into bitcoin each week, then I doubt that his aggressiveness had increased from the mere fact that his weekly discretionary income doubled and he also doubled his investment amount.  So if his discretionary income went up to $200 per week and he started to invest $66 per week into bitcoin, it seems to me that his level of aggressiveness is the same - 33%.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Should they go and steal or put themselves in tight positions financially in order to buy a bigger amount of bitcoin, is that what you want? That amount you are considering as little might actually be a big amount for another investor. Let’s not put pressure on other people or make them look like their efforts are not worth it. Remember little by little is how we grow our portfolio, especially we plebs that don’t have hedge funds.

This here is totally wrong advice, you can’t be serious with this! You’re encouraging investors to go beyond their means on the basis that their discretionary income may increase which is speculative and highly uncertain and after you concluded that you’re against anything that could lead to pressure in the course of investing in Bitcoin.

Investing beyond your means is one of the biggest pressures in Bitcoin investment, so you’ve ended up contradicting yourself and not making a valid point.
Going aggressive is good, but don’t because of it and put yourself in unnecessary pressure like going beyond your means to invest.

It is not certain whether income will increase in the future. Increasing the amount of investment today based on possible future income is not a responsible approach. The amount of investment should be determined by the current real cash flow, discretionary income after meeting necessary expenses, and sufficient financial security for emergencies. One person's discretionary income and financial security are not the same as another. Therefore, there is no universal rule that the same percentage or the same amount will be suitable for everyone. It is more reasonable to invest according to the current ability, and only reconsider the investment amount when the income or financial capacity actually increases.

I absolutely agree with this distinction. I also don’t think becoming more aggressive should simply mean investing more money because your discretionary income has increased. It really makes sense to look at the percentage of the discretionary funds you’re putting into bitcoin.

Using the same example, if someone has $100 in weekly discretionary funds and invest $33, they are allocating 33%. If their discretionary funds later increase to $200 and they increase their bitcoin investment to $66, the amount invested has doubled but their allocation is still 30%. So it’s fair to say their investment has increased, but their level of aggressiveness has not. IMO it would  become more aggressive, only if they start putting a larger percentage, let say maybe 40%,50% or more into the investment.

Postponing purchases indefinitely just in the hope of a price drop can be a really irrational decision. I would like to highlight two differences here, firstly, stopping regular purchases and just waiting is one thing. Secondly, keeping a portion of extra money aside for a possible price drop in addition to buying regularly is not the same decision.

If someone buys Bitcoin regularly with the money left over from their income after meeting all their necessary expenses (discretionary income) and later, when they get extra money, they buy some now, keep some to buy in several installments, and decide to use a small portion when the opportunity arises to buy it at a lower price, then that is not a completely bad decision. Even though the opportunity to use the last portion may not come. So they have to accept the inconvenience of the money being unused. Still, their regular purchases have not stopped. Determining the use of the extra money in this way does not make someone a short-term trader.

You are right that the strategy of increasing the amount of Bitcoin accumulation in the present based on future income is not right. The investment amount should be determined based on your discretionary income. Don't allocate all of your discretionary income to Bitcoin. Allocate the amount that is comfortable for you to Bitcoin and accumulation Bitcoin regularly. I think if you are comfortable saving $200 per week in Bitcoin, you should accumulate Bitcoin with $180 because you also have to be responsible about keeping cash available. Also adopt a mandatory policy towards building an emergency fund because emergency funds are very important for a successful long term investment strategy, as is your Bitcoin holding. Having an emergency fund is a responsible way to keep Bitcoin holdings safe and for the long term.
