It always surprises me when an investor becomes more focused on quick profits than on long term investment.
It shouldn’t surprise you much, such a person wasn’t an investor in the first place. Traders are always after quick profits. Bitcoin and trading are two completely different things. Whether one agrees or not trading is a poor endeavor which is why JJG and all its members advise staying away from it. You might make a profit once or twice out of every 100 trades but the rest of the time, you will face losses that is simply the nature of trading. Very few people ever succeed at it.
I think you meant to say Bitcoin investing and trading are two different things!? JJG is a single person not an organisation with members 😂…lol. Trading is a highly risky venture mainly because Bitcoin is an unpredictable and highly volatile. It looks very tempting to greedy and impatient people. Furthermore, there are no shortcut in investing. If someone suggests a shortcut to you consider it a trap. Falling into such a risky trap often leads to the loss of your invested capital. Instead use your discretionary income to build an emergency fund and invest regularly following the DCA method. Stick to your investment plan and hold your assets for 4 to 10 years or even longer.
Oh yes there is no shortcut, the shortcut is trading which is a bad business. Some people think that they can sell on highs and buy back when the market dips again, these are the kind of risky traps some investors fall into if they’re not disciplined enough. You can hardly or never outsmart the market.

that each of us who wants to start more or less must have a reserve fund with the aim of if there is a deviation in the beginning of our accumulation, it seems that with this reserve fund we can not have to sacrifice what we have done in accumulation, because the accumulation we are doing is only for investing and investing I think still requires at least 2 years while gaining knowledge about the depth of investing and this often happens to those beginners who sometimes underestimate investment by not having an emergency fund as a support for the smoothness of their investment.
It's not a must that a brand new investor should have reserve funds before starting his bitcoin investment so that, he doesn't waste more time as a no coiner. Provided that your discretionary income is available, you can start buying bitcoin right away and build your emergency funds simultaneously with your bitcoin investment. This is because if you want to wait and build your emergency funds first, you will miss a lot of opportunities in the market that you should have used to build your bitcoin stash to a certain size because it can take up to one year or more to build your emergency funds of three months of your monthly expenses. Waiting is never a good strategy, you can share your discretionary income into three equal parts. The first 1/3 for your weekly DCA, the second 1\3 for building your emergency funds and the last 1/3 for your discretionary income. A long term bitcoin investment is from 4-10 years or more and not two years. I see two years as trading because even at four years, you might not be able to build a significant size of bitcoin stash talk more, of two years.

One other thing that a lot of investors are doing is their entry into the platform without having any reason for it and when they should leave the platform. The social media just throws focus on the profits but at the same time does not equally highlight the loss, the risks involved and the emotions experienced during such businesses. Unreasonable expectation from the market is the result of this practice especially for the new investors. If you decided to keep the coins, time doesn't matter. But a good plan helps not to make rash decisions based on the price change alone. The preparation includes knowing the risks involved, holding the emergency coins separately and investing the money one is not worried about losing in their daily life. There is nothing wrong with selling the coins but it is definitely unprofessional to sell them under pressure and because of greed instead of the strategy that was decided initially.
What coin are you referring to? For your information, Bitcoin is not any kinda random shit so when discussing Bitcoin, be specific don't say coin, of course to hodl Bitcoin, some preparation has to be made, starting from creating an emergency funds, which has to be held in stable coin for some reasons, man everything is with selling your Bitcoin if you've not reached your overstimulation, perhaps there should be continuous recap of how Bitcoin investment should be done, we aren't playing here, Bitcoin investment is for serious people that understands it's future potentials, so it is advisable for an investor to hit the ground running until he reaches his over accumulation before considering to sell some part of his or her hodlings if necessary.

Again, holding it for the long term is not a guarantee of good results. The price of Bitcoin may decrease, the investor must also consider his own income, necessary expenses, emergency funds, and how long he can keep the money intact.
Of course, there is no guarantee of profit from bitcoin investment in the future but from the past records of bitcoin price history, it shows that the price increase overtime and always create a new ATH. However, the odds or bitcoin price moving uptrend is higher than moving downtrend and only a few percentage of people in the world have adopted bitcoin compared to the total world population andwhich shows that bitcoin is still in her early age, which is why we are encouraged to invest into bitcoin for a long term in order to limit the risk from its volatile nature and hope for good results in the future.

I agree with you on this because the only reason a newbie investor should wait before starting his bitcoin investment is if he has not figure out his discretionary income, but once he can figure that out, starting right away is the right thing to do, because at that stage of his accumulation, what he should care more about is how to build his stash of bitcoin, since he is already behind in his accumulation. Why newbies investors usually have problems especially at the beginning point of the investment is because they ignorantly invest, even when they have not figure out their discretionary income, but the moment they start doing the right thing, by figuring it out first before investing, that's when their accumulation became more easy and smooth.

There is no guarantee that Bitcoin will continue to grow in the future as it has in the past. You need to continue to accumulate Bitcoin to prevent inflation from eroding your cash fund. It is true that we are still in the early stages of Bitcoin adoption, even if we analyze the underlying essence of Bitcoin, it will be seen that the price is very likely to be higher in the future. Bitcoin adoption is increasing worldwide not only due to limited supply, naturally if there is a shortage of a product against demand the price of that product increases limited supply will be one of the many reasons for the increase in the price of Bitcoin in the future. It is necessary to accumulation Bitcoin regularly as a possibility or for very high expectations, only then you will be able to reach a convenient investment position. Accumulation Bitcoin regularly to large portion of discretionary income in fund management.

Being optimistic about the future of an investment is triggered mostly by the performance of the investment I'm convinced that you know that, the reason why bitcoin is more popular and has gain more adoption all these years,. may not be far from the fact that Bitcoin has done so well since it was created, however, I understand your point, people should not think that things can not change, for the fact that Bitcoin has not shown any sign of weakness overtime does not guarantee anything, but one thing we have to know is that, we can not change the mindset of some investors to believe what they want. In regards to being overagressive in Bitcoin investment, for me, a beginner should start first with their discreationary income, I do not think that being overagressive should be the major focus for beginners, rather doing what they can do within their power to consistently invest should be more of their priority.

Bitcoin is still in its infancy, Bitcoin has not been accepted worldwide yet, it is still in its infancy, over time the acceptance of Bitcoin will increase, the demand for Bitcoin will increase, the popularity of Bitcoin will increase, and over time Bitcoin will become more well-known, and then the situation of Bitcoin will definitely be much higher than the current situation. Because the price of something that is in high demand and acceptance will only continue to rise over time, and this is exactly what needs to be understood in the case of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is in its infancy, and when its adoption continues to increase, its price will ultimately skyrocket. And so there is a lot of potential, it is a real possibility, If Bitcoin has already created an ATH of $126K at its current level, then its demand is increasing even more in the future, so think about how much bigger an ATH it can create, and so if Bitcoin is held for long-term purposes, then it can provide a very big success.

There can be some confusion among new investors about the size of the emergency fund. One reason is that they do not understand the extent of future emergency needs. Some have expressed their opinion on keeping an emergency fund equal to 3 months of family needs, while others say 6 months. In my opinion, the amount of the emergency fund needs to be built on your financial capacity. Some keep a larger amount of emergency fund for additional financial security. The purpose of the emergency fund should not be limited to keeping Bitcoin holdings safe. If you are not involved in investing build this fund for life saving or other emergency needs. In fund management it is important to keep an allocation for Bitcoin from discretionary income just as you should keep an allocation for Bitcoin only then can you reach the stage of Bitcoin overaccumulation. You seem to be contributing to "the confusion" about back up funds (emergency funds) @Olatundespo Guys do not tend to start with back up funds, so they can build them while they build their bitcoin holdings. So sure, there could be some guys who start out with 2-6 weeks of back up funds, and others might start out with some other amount, but they can build their back up funds, and depending on their discretionary funds, it could take them 12 months or even quite a bit more to build their back up funds up to 3 months of their expenses. Yes, it is not mandatory that an investor should first create a backup fund before starting an investment, rather, after an investor starts investing, he should manage the investment in such a way that the investor's basic and necessary things for investment and emergency fund are not deprived. For example, if investors try to invest more than their own needs while investing, then the investor will not be able to continue this investment for a long time because at some point those needs will accumulate and take on a large size when it will become important to meet those needs. Therefore, if investors always invest and make emergency fund with discretionary income, it will be the best and safest for investment. For those investors who have less discretionary income at the end of the month or have less savings, but continuing to invest and replenishing the emergency fund at the same time may be time-consuming, but if he can do it patiently, even if it is done little by little, then it is definitely good for him. Since the need for emergency funds is great, along with investing, emergency funds should be given importance, even if it takes time. I don't know why the fuck you are proclaiming that there is some issue about whether to build up 3 months or 6 months, since there is no issue in this thread, since 3 months comes before 6 months, and it may be totally retarded to be focusing on building up back up funds greater than 3 months unless either the amount invested into bitcoin had been 6 months or more of expenses or maybe the bitcoin had appreciated to such an extent that it justifies building up greater levels of back up funds.
Of course, if someone has a lot of uncertainties in their income and/or expenses and/or they might even know that they are likely to suffer from loss of future income or increased future expenses, then in those circumstances, they might well be justified to build up back up funds greater than 3 months.. yet even then building up back up funds of anything close to 6 months might seem like bad financial management...so it seems a bit retarded to be proclaiming that there is some 3-6 month spread in this thread, when there is not... my ideas do not presume 3-6 months, but instead, I suggest working up to 3 months, and then perhaps building some more based on an ongoing building of the bitcoin holdings or maybe some special cashflow circumstances that might justify building more than 3 months of back up funds.
The amount of a person's backup fund will depend entirely on the person and their income, expenses and discretionary income. If someone says that it is mandatory to have a three-month, six-month backup fund for investment, then that is not the right advice. If investors plan to invest in Bitcoin and keep a backup fund ready at the same time, I think it will be good for both sides. Having a backup fund ready along with the investment will protect them from selling their investments suddenly. With investment and emergency funds, the investor needs to create a situation where the investment is maintained continuously and if any financial danger arises, that danger can be easily dealt with through a backup fund.

I don’t know exactly what you mean by this, but if you are trying to say a person doesn’t need discretionary income before going into Bitcoin investment then you are totally wrong. No matter how good it looks to invest in bitcoin, we shouldn’t take away the fact that nothing is guaranteed. Bitcoin is volatile in nature, so with that investing in it doesn’t guarantee a profitable future. Not just Bitcoin, but every investment we are going into, it best to use your discretionary income. Our basic needs should be our priority, so our income should first solve our basic needs, then the rest can be used for investing in bitcoin.

You can’t go into a trade without losing money, because it is different from investing in bitcoin for a long term, as a newbie that wants to succeed in bitcoin and achieve a good return or profit in the end, you have to be patient because if you are not patient you will end up selling your bitcoin or lose it in the end.
What you said here is true, because in trading losing your hard earned money is unavoidable no matter how skilled you are, but as a Bitcoin investors, all you just have to do is to buy, hold and be patient with your investment by not behaving like these newbies investors that will invest in it today, and be expecting to be rich in few months time. Trading is not as profitable as investing in Bitcoin on the long term, like 10 years timeframe, because in trading you can make a lot of money this month and use only a day or a single bad trade to lose everything or even halve of what you have made, but investment in Bitcoin is nothing like that where you will be winning and losing it back at the same time, as if you are gambling. Some traders prefer to trade than the invest their money and when the lose money, they will put the blame on the market or bad luck for being responsible for their predicament. Trading is not for everyone and the hardest truth is that 90% of traders are not profitable. Investing in Bitcoin especially using the DCA strategy is 100% better than when you trade and still lose money that should be used for buying Bitcoin and holding it for a long term or short term purpose depending on the plan of investment. Investors may not know what they are benefiting when they stick to consistent buying of Bitcoin instead of waiting for the market to dip before accumulating.

Let's say you don't get it correctly, your discretionary income gives you the confidence to keep accumulating Bitcoin without fear of the happenings in the market. You have no fear because the amount you are using to invest is not something that you will need any time soon and if something happens that requires urgent expenses you can use your emergency funds to take care of it and not temper with your Bitcoin. Having emergency funds is necessary as an investor it helps you not to depend on your investment money when you have any emergency that's why every investor should have it and not try to do any form of investment with it.

It's no doubt that investing can save someone the pressure of making daily speculative decisions. But I think we should be careful not to make bitcoin investment sound like a guaranteed way to make money. Because someone can buy bitcoin and hold it for years, but the price can still fall, there is no guarantee of profit even after 10 years. The only difference is that a long term investor do not make speculative decisions and is not trying to profit from every price movement. The main thing should be to have a clear plan, use money you won't need for daily expenses, and be patient with the investment. Trading may bring quick gains, but it can also lead to quick losses while long term investing requires patience and investing money left after settling all essential needs.

It's just useless to be tempted to sell your Bitcoin for the sake of the profit that is available. Challenges can warrant such decision but selling Bitcoin asset should be the last option after check and balance of other probable options. And this tirelessly reiterates the need for emergency funds as part of healthy investment measures. Emergency funds can actually reduce or undermine the temptation of selling Bitcoin asset.
You may panic and feel the urge to sell your Bitcoin when you see that the market is favouring it, but that reaction is not the best course of action for an investor. What makes some people think to sell their assets when they see that the market rise is small is because they have no funds for ground as an emergency fund, and any investors should be aware of that so that if something urgent occurs, they won’t temper their investment. Having a plan to hold the Bitcoin investments for the long term is a great forward for every future investment. That ia the issue the urge to sell is usually the problem because they are always panicking when the price starts coming down the newbies will start panicking and they should remember that they don't have anything to worry about because bitcoin is volatile in nature so they should understand that no matter what the price might be at that particular time it's going to be either its increasing or its decrease and if it is decreasing there is nothing for them to worry about because eventually the price will go back up and you can sell for profit but majority of them don't want to have that patience.

One thing with investing with discretionary income is that you don't need to pressure yourself to invest in what you can't afford to lose, but rather invest according to your financial strength. Because of this, some investors invest in Bitcoin with ease, which gives them the confidence to invest in Bitcoin consistently. However, not everyone who invests in Bitcoin with discretionary income does so without panic; some may panic for different reasons. Investing with discretionary income is not a guarantee that everyone will have a smooth investing journey without any interruptions. Regardless of the fear some individuals may have, even when they invest with discretionary income, investing with discretionary income is the best way to invest using a DCA strategy.

I can bet on Bitcoin Price to increase in the future because of the level of market adoption for Bitcoin as speculative assets, and if you check since history, Bitcoin have always put in the best foot in terms of consistency of value increase over the long term investments plans, the only time one can not get profits, is when the investors should put in money and expect a profit with in the shortest period of time, Bitcoin don't normally follow your own predictions, but it value over years will surely keep increasing. That is the reason why we often emphasise that you hold your Bitcoin for a long period of time as an investment goal, and the reason why we see Bitcoin investment approaches like DCA being the most talked-about and practised means of Bitcoin accumulation based on discretionary income spending.

It's some investors that usually tempt themselves towards selling their Bitcoin too early by either mismanagement or being overly carried away by a present rise in Bitcoin price. Somehow newbies are still being influenced to engage in trading and this is triggered by all the flattering drive for quick gains, check on the medias and see all the tireless adverts on trading, the highest some try to hold is for months or few years and they'll sell which is still trading. The patient required to hold Bitcoin for long term is lacking.
I had not noticed the seeming off-topicness of your post until I saw that Perfect-World had quoted it, and highlighted your reference to selling coins, as if selling bitcoin would be part of a normal strategy rather than either a sign of a mistake or an indication that the seller had reached over-accumulation status (another possibility could be the sell and replace, which does not seem to be your reference). You seem to be suggesting that trading would be an acceptable bitcoin accumulation strategy, and perhaps not even accounting for which thread you are in. Did you read the thread description or any of the posts in this thread that might have provided context for where you are at? We are not in a trading thread, so it seems to me that if you are talking about selling being an acceptable way of dealing with your bitcoin stash, then you likely are going to need to provide some context and/or some additional elaboration in regards to the circumstances in which guys might end up including selling into their bitcoin management, and as Perfect-World seemed to highlight, you have ONLY been registered on this forum for about 3 years, so I am having difficulties imagining very many circumstances in which normal guys would have had gotten our of their bitcoin accumulation stages in the past 3-ish years.. yet I hate to overly generalize about your situation based on your forum registration date, even though frequently guys here (including yours truly) will look at forum registration dates in order to get some sense of how long another member might have been in bitcoin (unless they actually indicate their bitcoin history as being some other timeline that is different from their forum registration date). But am investment mentality will help you HODL longer, manage your income and allocation, build up proper safety nets along the line and invest wisely. It's best to HODL rather than sell too quickly You are right that there could be times when HODL would apply, yet many times ongoing, persistent and consistent buying of bitcoin tends to be the better of practices, and sure, there is a bit of a saying in bitcoin, too that relates to the temptations to sell bitcoin when guys are still in their accumulation stage, and in that regard sometimes if guys might be tempted to sell bitcoin while they are still in their accumulation stage, then it would tend to be better to just HODL through those periods, in the event that you might choose to not continue to buy more during those same periods. No one is saying that it is easy to get through the earliest stages of bitcoin accumulation, and many guys are going to need 6 years or more to accumulate bitcoin unless they have resources to front load their bitcoin investment, such as guys who have other assets that they can reallocate to bitcoin or maybe guys who have quite large discretionary income levels that they can use to front load their bitcoin investment. None of us can proclaim to know the circumstances of other guys, even though many of us likely realize that it tends to take a hell of a long time to build wealth, and surely the context of this thread does not advocate trading (or selling) as a means to accumulate more bitcoin, since it tends to be so difficult, at any time, to have any meaningful confidence about whether the bitcoin price might be going up, down or sideways at any given point in time... so a driving force for guys should be considering that if they are still accumulating bitcoin and/or they are in their earlier stages of accumulating bitcoin, they are likely way better off to just ongoingly buy bitcoin rather than getting sucked into various kinds of waiting techniques, and if you start to sell bitcoin with expectations that you are going to be able to buy back cheaper, you end up getting sucked into waiting techniques rather than buying techniques. I will want to understand or know the coin you are referring to because right now i don't know the coin you mean since you weren't specific about that, again i don't think we have anything like an emergency coin rather its called an emergency funds in bitcoin investment. Now if the coin you mean is bitcoin then everything is wrong by selling your bitcoin when you are still at your early stage because you are still to be buying BTC by then, the only time an investor should sell their bitcoin is when they have reached their BTC over accumulation, and this doesn't mean they will sell all their BTC HODLing and become a no coiner no but rather they can sell small if necessary and continue to hold onto. Ah ha? I had not even noticed that Gragebox had used the expression "emergency coins", and you are correct @Umulala-alala to point out the ambiguity (and potential confusion of such expression). When I focus on that "emergency coins" expression, I get the sense that either Gragebox does not know what the fuck he is talking about or alternatively that he might be lost in terms of the topic of this thread, since the most relevant topics of this thread relate to bitcoin and cash.. and yeah, there could be circumstances in which other coins or other assets might become relevant, yet we are largely talking about bitcoin investing in this thread, and yeah, many guys are tending to onboard into bitcoin from cash or maybe the rendering of services.

1) Self-Custody is a right. Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

It's not a must that a brand new investor should have discretionary income before starting his bitcoin investment so that,
Your statement is contradictory to what is needed to start investing in bitcoin, since isn’t mandatory for a newbie to have discretionary income before they can start investing in bitcoin, so what is required for a brand new investor to start investing in bitcoin, what is required to start investing in bitcoin is a discretionary income, so if you’re saying this here, then you’re going to be misleading newbies here with your statement, considering your rank I will assume you’ve been investing and buying bitcoin, if I may ask when you started investing in bitcoin did you start your investment outside your discretionary income ?, because if you did invest outside your discretionary incomes, by investing with money meant for your expenses then that is a huge blunder you’re making, and you might end up buying selling like a trader.
