I thought so as well that it would require at least 100 points to keep the placing, but I'm happy to settle for 20usdt like you did also, but yes, I'll definitely try and aim for even more 100 points since I'm there already. It is a nice strategy, who knows, it is possible that you would lose an amount more than the additional reward if you chased to rank higher.  Having a set target really helps us to minimize our losses.  I might do the same thing but probably would set the winning amount and wagering amount higher.  I always target $70 minimum else I will deplete my bankroll until I hit my target profit.
