wow, Spain vs Costa Rica was a heck of a game. One more surprise in the World cup.

Spain was very powerful and simply smashed Costa Rica. The spanish squad was way superior and demonstrated they are a team to fear. For the looks of it, they will go to the next phase ahead in the group. Spain is very promissing and should go way further in the cup. We can maybe see it on the finals.

Spain's performance tonight was amazing, it's hard to believe they were able to win such a big win over Costa Rica. This victory is certainly an important asset for them to secure a place in the next round. Spain will have a decisive match against Germany on the second matchday. Victory can pave the way for the Matador team. But for Germany it is mandatory to win to maintain hope in the group stage, if they lose again, the Panzer Team will certainly lift their bags earlier than Qatar.

I think they should have focused on their game rather than protest - have they had been more focused on the game they would have won the game and we would not have got the shock of their defeat. Likewise - the same this iranian did. They should put everything aside and focus on their game.

Watching the Belgium vs Canada game I must say that I'm very surprised at the level that Canada is playing. I know they qualified for the World Cup as the first team in their group, but I didn't expect that they will play this good against Belgium. Too bad for them that they missed the penalty but if they keep playing at this level, they are closer to winning than Belgium.

Also, I'm afraid what they will do to Croatia on Sunday if they will play at this level. Especially if Croatia will play as bad as they did today.

Arabs stopped Argentina, Japanese stopped Germans and anyone would be completely shocked by the results of these two fights. Who would have thought that two non-seeded teams like Saudi Arabia and Japan would be able to beat Argentina and Germany in almost the same scenario?

I really think that the results of World Cup matches are very difficult to predict before the match. I'm not sure Saudi Arabia and Japan will qualify from the group stage, but whatever I doubt at the moment is always possible to go wrong and both teams qualify. Japan might qualify if they manage to win either of the next two matches, but I'm not sure if Costa Rica will actually be as bad as they were today. Argentina on the other hand may find it very difficult to win match against Poland as well as Mexico but it is always possible to expect Argentina to qualify for the last 16.

The game have started and the Canadians are playing quite well with them possessing the ball and they have been also awarded a penalty and was missed by their star man Alphonso David.

The Canadian are a really good team having played a total of 20 matches in their qualifiers and making them the team to have played the most matches on their way to the world cup.
They even finish above the USA and Mexico who have a lot experience of the world cup in their qualifiers

I thought Belgium was the favorite in this match. Because they have star players like Hazard, De Bruyne and Courtois in their squad. But their performance today is not satisfactory. Belgium is not playing very well. Canada's players are attacking a lot. Canada had a chance to score from the penalty spot, but they missed. Belgium is an experienced team. Canada is playing well though. But I don't think Canada will be able to win. Belgium is still the most likely to win. However, none have scored so far. The match is getting quite entertaining.

I don't think it was a case of the Germans being flat or not playing to their potential. They just weren't as good as they could have been. It was a case of the Germans being outplayed by an opponent that knew what they were doing and played to their strengths. Watching Germany so desperate against Japan was pretty unexpected for me. I just thought like Germany would destroy them by a big goal difference. But now we are talking about how they can lose by 2-1 here. The first was under full control of Germany. They should have been able to score at least two goals then. Saudia and Japan has surprised and they have shocked the world. The Argentina and German defeat is so surprising.
I think it will be a surprize which team will win the world cup - all the prediction went upside down. In the OP poll Saudia and Japan is not even mentioned as the fav team.

Japan already known as a team with so many spirit. People are always picking a big team as their favourite but i think that japan was underrated team in the world cup. Germany got surprised caused by it has the same fate like argentina. I guess people are always underrating the country that didn't popular caused by it was not having popular league. As far as i know even since world cup that already passed if japan can't be underrated as the team from japan was always making the popular country related with football to have a tough game against it.

Germany played very bad today, they would have lost 1-2 also against Lichtenstein. Maybe that was too mutch of politics today as the German team cover mouth with hand before the game at the team photo. Too much politics is probably not good for soccer, maybe the Fifa is right? On Sunday Germany vs Spain and if they lost, then the World Cup is over.

Now Belgium are in the lead by 1-0 against Canada. However Canada's missing that penalty was a turning point for Belgium as well. I'm still not very confident about Belgium until they make it 2-0.

Canada should have scored more than a goal in that first half even after that poorly played penalty, the goal keeper for Belgium is very experienced and has just been good and Canada have not been good scoring when they have had their opportunity. They will regret it if the game finishes and they are not winners. If they let Belgium score again, it will be demoralizing for them because of how more impossible it will look win this game.

Canada managed to trouble the Belgian defense throughout the first half but fortunately the solid defense from Belgium was able to break every Canadian attack, Belgium should thank Courtois for being able to save a penalty and also to Batshuayi for being able to score 1 gol  to end the first half with a score of 1-0 on belgium won, actually Canada had many opportunities including a penalty to score but unfortunately the poor finishing from the front line of Canada made them fail to score, I think the second half of the match will be even more exciting because the two of them will continue to exchange attacks to get the win.

Saudi is a very weak country when it comes to football, they don't believe they could win the Argentina, Saudi Arabia where really suprised and amazed that's why their government decide to give a public holiday to celebrate their win. To be honest nobody believe that Saudi Arabia can diffit Argentina.

Spain has a great team and imo they are strong candidates to win this year's World Cup. They have a balanced squad with very new players like Nico Williams who is just 20 years old, but also very experienced well-known ones.

Let's see how they play versus Germany. The match should be harder to win than Costa Rica's.

Yeah. Germany entered the World Cup with high expectations, since they are four-time World Cup champions, and they were expected to win Group E. But then, it looked like Japan had watched Saudi Arabia's win on repeat because they managed to turn the game around after a dominant first half from Germany.

Germany had the ball for almost 80% of the first half, but Japan came out with a different game plan in the second. They played more directly and managed to create chances through counter-attacks. The Japanese team was not only able to keep Germany from scoring, but they also managed to score twice of their own. This will definitely go down as one of Japan's greatest World Cup performances.

I don't understand why a player of the class of Alphonso Davies could fail to convert the penalty opportunity given by the referee into a goal for Canada, maybe his mentality as a Canadian player is very different from when he played for Bayern Munich. Germany deserved to win compared to Japan, but I think Germany squandered too many chances and underestimated Japan a bit. I agree Germany created a lot of chances but their finishing was unlucky regardless of the reasons. Almost the same as Argentina, but Germany looks worse in my opinion.

But don't worry, Argentina and Germany both have a chance to win their next two matches in the group stage. The problem is they have to win it, they have to avoid defeats and draws in the next 2 matches to ensure they qualify for the round of 16. It will really be hard to imagine how these two big teams will fight in the next 2 matches, but really their every match will be a final from now on.
