I agree! However, he shouldn't take Vargas lightly because the man is also a decent fighter and have a much good experience than him but when it comes to KO capabilities, no doubt Magsayo have that advantage. He should relax, yes but not to rest himself, but in-order to focus more and ensure his victory while training hard. He must believe himself that he can do this because this fight will determine his future in the boxing industry, also, he have coach Freddie Roach to guide him along the way to success.

Magsayo surely already knows that and will never take Vargas lightly. His opponent is even considered a slight favorite. Magsayo 100% understands that he is up against a good and tough challenger. He won't reach his current status right now if on the way, he always looked easy at all of his opponents.

We always want to see a tough fight against our representative. A fight where we can see lots of exchange blows and until the final bell rings, we don't know who will be the winner at the end. That's a good fight to watch instead of a landslide one.

Well, that's right because I don't even recall that Magsayo was an arrogant or boast that he can defeat each player in his way. Honestly, I find Magsayo different from others even though he lacks something but I know he can make up for it and he's improving throughout the years.

Exchanging of blows? I bet we can see something like that as I know Magsayo won't back down for nothing, I wanted to see Vargas challenging Magsayo to bring the best of him.

Magsayo is a brawler so if he gets hit for sure he will also throw some at Vargas and see who's chin are going to break or hold on that exchanges. Mark also has some decent speed with power so he is willing to trade punches even if he gets tag along the way, at least he also gives some.

He is not arrogant, most Filipino boxers are, maybe that's who they are brought up, and majority of Filipino boxers started from nothing but they can dream big like Pacman. They just need to stay focus on those dreams and not to get the success on their head.

That was Magsayo's favorite and I hope Vargas will give him the most difficult exchange blows he ever experienced. That will be a good experience for Magsayo. Freddie Roach was also an expert regarding the in-close fight techniques and the best proof of that is how Manny Pacquiao fought at close range. It's fortunate that Magsayo will be up against a heavy challenger since that will test his skills if he really wants to step up slowly on the ladder.

There's no plan on moving up but I think if Magsayo wins against Vargas, and takes some couple of title defenses next, he can take a shot at 130 lbs catchweight.

The only arrogant is John Riel Casimero haha. It's ok to be like that if he knows how to be a responsible boxer. About Magsayo, he is always humble, and almost all boxers that Coach Freddie Roach trained do have good disciplined. Can't remember Magsayo throwing heavy trash talk to his opponent. He even shows respect to Gary Russell Jr. after successfully snatching the title that the latter holds for 7 years.

I wanted to see Vargas challenging Magsayo to bring the best of him.

Correct. As a challenger, Vargas should give the champion the best of him so, in return, the champion will also do the favor. A champion like Magsayo needs a strong challenger to prove that he really deserves to be a champion.

And I think Vargas is a strong opponent, so we are going to see Magsayo being tested, if he will respond with a big win, then for sure people will believe that he deserves to be a champion and he has a bright future ahead of him. My prediction is, Magsayo by KO if he wins.

That's what I like about Magsayo because he is not afraid to take some punches because he knows well that he can give too and reciprocate what he received. He likes to be challenged after all and I hope Vargas will give that to him, but this time it will be more challenging because Vargas has more reach and height advantage than the defending champion, Mark Magsayo.

He is not arrogant, most Filipino boxers are, maybe that's who they are brought up, and majority of Filipino boxers started from nothing but they can dream big like Pacman. They just need to stay focus on those dreams and not to get the success on their head.
Nah, I'm seeing the opposite. Most Filipino boxers who have successfully known now are humble, there's this only one boxer who's arrogant but it's good for him though because he can back those words with action, I think you guys know whom I referring.

Yes, Vargas' achievement is really a big deal, 35 wins with no defeat yet. Magsayo surely got a good challenger.

However, Vargas resides for a long period in the BantamWeight division while the other hand, Magsayo is already an experienced fighter at the FeatherWeight. There might be a big change in the environment that Vargas might experience entering a much upper-weight class and facing the champion.

That's why maybe others looked at Vargas as a threat to Magsayo because of that 35-0 record and considered the former as an experienced boxer compare to Magsayo. That might be true but since Magsayo is used to fighting at Featherweight, that's already a big advantage for him against Vargas.

I see your point and I also agree that Magsayo will be much more comfortable even the challenger does have that outstanding record.

If a repeat happened, we might see the same outcome from the last fought by Alvarez and Bivol,
both fighters are eager to win and the outcome turn in favor of Bivol who fights on his own division.

Not saying that it might be the same outcome, but the chance is also good for Magsayo
just continue to prepare his condition and be ready to throw solid combinations to win this fight.

That's actually right because most of the boxers that came from the Philippines grew up from poverties and these people were not known for trash-talking most of them are humble and we have already seen some fights that are blockbusters without any trash talking but the sad part is, right now the trend is like that. where one or the boxers who are about to fight really needs to trash talk so that they can sell out their fight unless they are famous enough for not doing so and most of their fans, want to see it solve those trash-talking inside the ring. It feels like a drama before the fight and it's becoming a tradition now.

We are going to see it, at least for now we know that Magsayo should train hard as he got a good challenger. Magsayo is not popular yet, he has to continue working on his way to consistently defend his title and this upcoming fight of his is a good fight to start with.

Magsayo surely already knows that and will never take Vargas lightly. His opponent is even considered a slight favorite. Magsayo 100% understands that he is up against a good and tough challenger. He won't reach his current status right now if on the way, he always looked easy at all of his opponents.

Unfortunately, that's the trend these days but sometimes we cannot deny that we love to see these boxers doing some trashtalk, right? We know they are just trying to sell the fight but what we're waiting is that they will even go beyond the line just for the sake of selling the fight.

Anyway, out of all famous boxers who successfully carved their name in the industry, there's only one boxer who just love to trashtalk even though sometimes it's already out of the line and annoying already. Guess who?

Anyway, out of all famous boxers who successfully carved their name in the industry, there's only one boxer who just love to trashtalk even though sometimes it's already out of the line and annoying already. Guess who?

I certainly know that boxer you are referring to, sadly he is going back from scratch after that incident. I don't know who's more naive, is it his camp who uploaded that video? Or his trainers who know the rule?

I mean, they cannot really give an excuse that they don't know or somehow forgot that one rule because it's not his first time traveling outside the country and making some fights. They know that there's is always a certain rule in different countries.

Back to this fight, I'm with Magsayo on this fight because I believe in his capabilities and that he can successfully defend his belt against Vargas who is more experienced than him.

He is not arrogant, most Filipino boxers are, maybe that's who they are brought up, and majority of Filipino boxers started from nothing but they can dream big like Pacman. They just need to stay focus on those dreams and not to get the success on their head.

John Riel after being brandish doesn't  a belt so that's "karma".

And even if Donaire has been in boxing for like 15 years he is not boastful, hence he still thrive even though he is into the stage of his career wherein majority of the boxers are fading away.

So I do hope that taking Casimero under his wing, John Riel will learn for the Donaire's how to be humble and let their fist to the talking. As for Mark, even if he is the underdog, he can still win this fight.

How can you say that he is the underdog?
He is the defending champion in this particular fight, you should share the betting odds for us to verify that Mark Magsayo is really the underdog.

Right, no matter what's their excuse, the subject will always go back to him because of that incident. Whether if that is his fault or his team, he is the one who is taking the consequences. Anyway, let's go back to the original discussion. We know how determined and capable is Mark Magsayo and I know he won't stop in this process and eventually, he will defeat Vargas. The way I see the fight, it will be a UD in Magsayo's favor but if he can go for a KO then why not and that's much better.

Magasayo has a chance to beat vargas in any aspect but......

Actually, we don't need to question Magsayo's chance of winning the fight because he is the defending champion and sure he is the favorite to win. We should be looking more at the chances of Vargas as the challenger on beating the champion.

Remember that he is the champion, he is still undefeated, so most bettors would bet on him, now, let's go to the question, is Vargas is big treat to Magsayo, or just an ordinary challenger that can easily be beaten by the champion?

Well that is a very good way of looking at things, we all sometimes get carried away by what we can see in the statistics and everything that has to do with numbers, but it is as you say, the challenger does not lose much but the champion defender has a lot to lose, both his reputation as an athlete and the amount of money he can lose, this added to the fact that the fans support him, the fact that he loses and makes him lose money, makes many disappointed, as it was the case of Canelo, who lost and almost in many have lost the desire to see him play.

I think the defending champion will be very difficult to beat but there is a possibility that when Mark Maksayo makes a mistake and is read by the opponent, the opponent must be able to take advantage of the moment as possible because when in the ring anything can happen without realizing it. Hopefully this won't be Mark Maksayo's nightmare.

Yes you are right that mate once you are a champion it's a big responsibility to defend your belt at all times because once you already build a reputation it's hard to losses but if you loss without trying your best to defend then the crowd will slowly far from you but if you defend all of your heart and all of your best then the crowd will support you until the end of your career. If magsayo will focus in this match and trained hard for sure he will win.

Well, as for Mark Magsayo, I have no doubts that he can defeat Vargas here even if the the latter have the advantages like experience, height and reach. That was just a figure and record but that doesn't mean that the defending champion have a slim chance here, I believe Magsayo will have a bright future in this industry and with Freddie Roach in his side, he can go beyond.
