Gambling problems have been around as long as mankind has been alive. now everything is going digital, but let's not forget that people used to bet on large scale and that even entire household effects and women were used to win. Sometimes with all that entails. We have to accept that gambling problems are part of society and that it is something that will always exist and people have to learn to deal with that if it hasn't already happened.

All in all, self-exclusion is about the player's initiative to undergo the process.  As stated by the several replies, there should be a personal admission that he is having a gambling problem but before that, the player must identify that he is having a gambling problem. 
It isn't easy for a player to identify that he has a gambling problem, so the initial steps are already a problem.  This can be solved by attending seminars and reading online guidelines or talking to medical experts on gambling addiction.  Another hassle step for the player.  So the question here is if the player does not recognize that he is already having signs of gambling addiction, the self-exclusion tool is basically useless.

I agree, the self-exclusion tool is more of an imitation of a solution to a problem than a real solution to a problem. If a person is aware of the problem and wants to solve it, then he does not need such a tool, if he is not aware of the problem or does not want to solve it, then this tool is useless. I would like to hear the opinion of those who this tool really helped - do they exist?

It is actually a good move but results vary depending on the person that will use it. We just can't predict what shall happen exactly if somebody does this.

There had been making gambling problems gambler had be facing for long now and I think there should be a way out to it. It is more easier when a gambler could recognize his or her weakness than those ones can are not conscious of what thier weakness could be. The gambling problem looking at it from addiction, poor control of fund, urge to gamble more etc need to be addressed to reduce the later effect on gamblers.

And that's what they have to recognize and admit that they have the problem at all costs. But when it's about to admit it, those that have this actual problem don't look at it the way it is because they think that it's an easy situation that they can handle. There’s a lot of responsible gambling program and yet many are still falling into a trap of gambling so I also believe that we should be more responsible and it will always start from our initiative either to stop gambling or to have a plan. Self exclusion will completely keep the user away from gambling. But, as said if he gets triggered of the e-mail and other forms of promotion once again the person will start enjoying. As said to stop the gambling problem first the user himself need to have self realisation and keep himself within limits. When you self exclude users won't receive the bonuses, and for that purpose many won't stay excluded.

I don't think this system will solve or even minimize gambling addiction, its a system that is governed by choice that can be ignored by gamblers this so-called self-exclusion is already been implemented and recommended by some casino operators but unfortunately, it's being exploited, he may be a gambling guru but he is not going to be a messiah when it comes to gambling cure with his self exclusion system, education is still a better way to reduce gambling addiction.

I think medical treatment alone is not enough, they should also get rehabilitation treatment so that they can make their brains stop gambling again. Knowledgeable people are even superior, they also know when to quit because they also learn how to control their psychology. Knowledge of all kinds of gambling will provide a limit, a limit on where to stop so that there is no losing streak. Having knowledge or not everyone has a goal of winning. Yes, the main knowledge in gambling is knowing that you are there to have fun, not to make money, which most of the time will result in you losing money.
Then knowledge will tell you that there are no foolproof strategies, and that knowledge will keep you from spending more than you should be losing.

With each passing day I see more and more people promoting foolproof winning strategies with low risks, only people who have no knowledge, especially newbies in gambling, believe it.

This has actually been done a lot of hypnotherapy to reduce the effects of addiction that occurs in addicts (by going into their subconscious and entering suggestions that gambling is not a good thing for their finances)

I think with the development of today's medicine and technology, the government's task to eradicate gambling addicts or others such as drugs is quite easy

As you can see, many people are far from such obvious logic and offer some fantastic options like total control over all the casinos in the world to make this tool work. I understand why this is for governments (to reduce the rights of people and expand power), but I can’t understand why it is for the gamblers.

Rehabilitation is the key, they should be guided and once they enter into this program there’s a high probability that they won gamble again. Self exclusion still requires gambler to be more responsible since they can still gamble and open an account in another site, only if there’s a master server for a list of the participants gamblers, this can be a big help.

Digging deeper into what is this Global Self-Exclusion system (GSES) is, I found the pdf of the blue paper.  GSES is also deeply explained in this website, Global Self-Exclusion Initiative, with a tagline :  "Let’s make online gambling safer, together."

It said that to be able to solve the gambling problem in the gambling industry it needs GSES.

This gambling Guru may have overlooked that there are already casinos that implement self-exclusion and it's not giving a 100% percent success rate and many gamblers who are supposed to use this self-exclusion feature of the casino that's implementing this are just ignoring this.

You cannot compel gamblers on their own to use this feature, because gamblers are always in a denial stage that they need this tool to control their gambling addiction, the key here is still gambling education.
