Indeed it is finally back, although I had the same error before refreshing the page, and the first thing to see is 1 BTC = 19710 USD.

Probably error that you got was from cached version of website.

At first I thought there is a problem with the site but after refreshing it worked and tried with another browser and whether it is only me site and it was fine so yes, you are right, it is the cached version that caused this

I doubt it is an issue of whether or not the owner can maintain it, but rather the owner hasn't set a reminder as the when it will expire. I don't know if theymos would even consider buying the site either as there are money other alternatives.

Yeah I am aware of the forums expenses. For theymos 1 BTC = 1 BTC so it is almost impossible to see a banner in the forums talking about FIAT/altcoins prices to BTC. A script could be made but it won't be popular imo. So the easiest alternative to all of that is preev since it is easy to visit, simple and without ads.
As mentioned, if the owner add non annoying ads, he could generate a lot of money I assume, this thing could be done by the forums too if they acquire it.
I am relieved that the site is back and I hope there won't be a new topic about this issue in 2023!

I can access the preev again but with a warning from my AV Kaspersky I don't know why my AV gives a warning notice accessing this website it's only the price of bitcoin.

I think it's because ads pull data like IPs and a little information about your device and I don't remember exactly but there is a discussion and report before about those ads on preev that end up removing ads.

I can not remember since when I am using preev but I can not remember to see any ads at all. I must be late to get introduced to the site.

A simple banner which is hosted in their same server is not going to make any difference. Since there are no registration required, I do not understand only from the IP of the visitors what possible issue their could be? Anyway, whoever own the site, he must have full commitment to the bitcoin community. It's very rare.

Looking at the site statistics and the hits Preev.com are getting, I will also suggest that the developers behind the site might consider adding a donation address for people to help with the funding for the site.

It's a decent site and even has a historical reference of prices dating back to 2012. I think it's a good thing to support simple things developed by Bitcointalk members.

That's great news, I'm glad it's back, it's the most convenient way to convert USD to Bitcoin, without needing to bookmark websites or use Google Search. I also wouldn't mind donating to the cause, in order to support the website, since it's not generating any kind of income, despite the increased traffic it's receiving.

Yes, it's always. I've wondered now when I've been using them for years but stopped since the pandemic has started on how this website earns. There seems to be no way for them to generate profit so yeah, a donation address will be a big thing to them.
Just like the other website that we used to see that they've got a tip address.

That's good one. Marking it into bookmarks, hope it will stay alive for long, because often such projects which are made as alternative for something goes offline just after some months.

I agree. It's far from ideal. I have gotten so used to typing just the first 2-3 letters of "preev", it's weird typing something else now.

Thank you. The user deserved some merit. I wish I was a source. But happy to send couple for him. According to whois, the domain registered in march 2020 so the domain age is over 2 years. Now that we started to discover the project I hope more bitcoiner will find it useful and use it frequently.

I hope the owner could resolve this once for all and if he is busy IRL to let another trusted member to run it for him

I checked Preev today morning and got this error. I thought that's cache from previous time, but seems that not if I'm not alone getting  this error. I also tried on other browser, same stuff.
It would be sad if owner will abandon this website.

Or hopefully open source it so anyone can run it or something close to it.
In theory it's probably not that hard to do, but I do tip my hat to them since they DID do it while the rest of us just stood around and used it.
Pull a bunch of data from a bunch of APIs and math, I am really surprised nobody else has done it. There are a few that look the same but only pull from 1 source.

The 157.230.67.179 is the IP of the DNS made easy expire page. It's a known thing in the hosting world.

I know for bitcoinpricecalc.com, follow them from his announcing, but just because the name is too long (three words in the domain), I might look for an alternative that will be always online.
