Indeed, these two things are different but at least if you play gambling without having discipline, you will not be able to control yourself and you can even lose more money. If gamblers are not respected in your area, it may be because people in your area see that those who gamble are using money that they could have used to open a business or make ends meet. Self awareness and does have that strong self control and discipline on which it would really able you to stop gambling or whatever you are dealing with when you do already saw that you are losing that much.

Someone who's relying upon his luck won't go far in gambling unless you hit that jackpot one time and that's a tremendous amount of cash or BTC or any other supported altcoins that you've won. It's like hitting that jackpot for the first time and you are not even expecting it.

But to a person that is addicted, controlling their greed is very hard to do. True, most people gamble like that, however a great deal of attention is given to those that end up addicted to gambling, even if their numbers are incredibly small, and when the majority can enjoy an activity and do so responsibly then it would be a huge mistake to try to ban it just because a minority cannot deal with it, after all the costs of banning gambling are way greater as the number of addicts will most like not decrease, the people that could gamble responsibly will be mad about it, many people will lose their jobs and the government will stop receiving taxes from the industry.
