What a joke of a team was Galatasaray yesterday being beaten by a lower value team in terms of economics and individual players. Maybe it was the first game but exactly because it was the first game teams should have valued it maximally as this format can hit you really hard when the league stage games will end and you end up regretting what you throwed away in the first game of the tournament. Of course Sporting played well and a fully deserved victory.

Seems like apart from Aston Villa, who were not a clear favorite, everybody else got the win as expected and those who went for those scores were very well rewarded.

Real barely beating Inter though, who were like children, the score should be far bigger.

I saw the odd of 1.57 of Real Madrid yet since I fancy Inter I entered 0-3 as a result which clearly was not the case. Well I am happy I believe to have hit a correct score in Borussia vs Villareal game as the game ended 3-2 and usually when a German team is playing there will be goals. Overall a good start to the season but it is way to early in the league phase, let's hope today we have some better games to watch.

Well I'm the new leader now, thanks to my own personal belief in Barca and others, but this is rare for myself honestly that I pick a lot of favorites and they hit, too bad the only betting I did here was for my team in RTG

Honestly, Inter looked better in gameplay but made some cardinal errors that must not be made when you play against Real. Like, what was on the GK's mind when he tried to trick Valverde? Such a stupid, stupid goal. Real was, for me, not better, but definitely luckier in the match against Inter.

Liverpool also did that mistake against Real (trying to trick their very experienced forwards). I never understand it either

Let's not exaggerate to underestimate Sporting, though. Perhaps on paper Galatasaray has a better team, but what matters in sport are their performances on the pitch.
Mistakes pay off and yesterday Galatasaray paid for their poor performance with a bad defeat, but I would be careful to give the players ridicule.
Maybe I'm speaking like that because I won the bet (which I honestly didn't expect) I played with feeling, I certainly never or almost never control a team's performance over time, for me the game ends at the 90th minute, it ends at that moment.
Also because even the great teams as we have been able to see do not always render in the same way, you see Bayern Munich who drew with Schalke, you see PSG where in the last 4 games they have packaged completely different results, between two draws and one defeat and then yesterday (even if Bratislava is not a strong team) they scored a good 6 goals. Every game has its own story, don't be so hard on Galatasaray.

Sporting is no small club as you say,  remember that was the club where the most successful footballer "Christiano Ronaldo" sprouted out from, it was not entirely a disappointing performance for Galatasaray, I must say.

Though in terms of players, Galatsaray have better and more experienced players compared to Sporting, they also had more possession in the game but were unable to convert their chances. That's football for you, the best team is not always the winning team.

Even though Roma is considered the favorite today, I think Fenerbahçe will come away from this match undefeated—and might even win.

Fenerbahçe put in a truly poor performance in the Beşiktaş derby over the weekend. In contrast, Roma has made a very strong start to the season with three straight wins in the league, scoring a total of 10 goals in those three matches. Therefore, looking solely at the numbers, one might think Roma should easily beat Fenerbahçe.

However, I don’t agree with that view. I think Fenerbahçe could show a different reaction in such an important European match following their poor performance against Beşiktaş. Moreover, this match is also quite critical for İsmail Kartal. Both the team’s recovery in terms of play and a positive result in Europe could ease the pressure on Kartal.

For this reason, despite Roma’s current form and status as the favorite, I don’t think Fenerbahçe will go down without a fight in this match. In fact, if they play the right game and show high intensity, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Yellow-and-Blues walk off the field with a victory.

Even handicap _1.5 for Sabah is interesting, if you saw how they played in the qualifiers,,, but too risky for me except to say it and hope somebody does it

This only happens until the end of October, when winter time comes into force in Europe.

In fact, Man United is not unlucky in the Champions League this season, moreover coach Michael Carrick has said so himself.

Carrick said MU was not burdened with specific targets by the club for this season. The 45 year old coach chose to focus on going through the competition in stages without rushing to think about how far he would go.

Here perhaps we can draw one conclusion, because Man United have not been absent for two seasons, this means they have to introduce new players first in the 2026/27 Champions League season.

I believe Man United is progressing slowly but surely, even though we see they are not capable, but in fact they are actually more capable of playing better, they may not want to be conspicuous after not being absent for two seasons, Arranging the team's strategy for the future is probably better than anything, after all, Man Utd made history in the Champions League in 1968, 1999 and 2008, this is the best achievement they have done.

I think Manchester United can beat Sabah FK at least 2-0. Even though Man. United has not had a record of performing perfectly in the Premier League. but they have had good experience in the Champions League.

But Sabah FK cannot be underestimated, considering that this is its debut match in the Champions League. Sabah FK last season in its regular league became the champion with a record of 33 matches, only losing 3 times, drawing 6 times and winning 24 times.

The Man United vs Sabah FK match looks like it will be interesting, considering that both teams have their own ambitions.

Don't see nothing strange - Sporting were favorites on paper and they won. Maybe if game would be in Istanbul, maybe things would look different.
And in general, in first 12 games we haven't saw any upsets, things were extremely predictable. Let's see what today will bring.

I think you're right haha... I have now taken the same conclusion to take a bigger risk with 3 points at stake, in the past if not wrong this round they get a lot of points because they choose the underdog team, so they should be able to gain points now, I myself am too confident in Como.

I just checked and realized you really took my advice so lets hope Como will actually make it happen tonight or else we are gonna suffer the penalty . Aside from that we really had similar betting prediction there, we both also had Arsenal to win + BTS and too bad that game ended with only 1 goal

Speaking of boring results, I actually nailed all the score prediction so far 12 out 12 with 4 of them being exact scores. This is probably one of the best start I've had on this pool and it would be so much better if I dont get the penalty

Sabah FK have a remarkable history coming into the Champions League. I heard the coach went from being a quiz winner to a football manager. Sabah FK has 8 years of existence. This is their first time in the UEFA Champions League.

However, they lack the experience and the technical knowledge to beat Manchester United, which has a long history in the UCL. Winning up to 5 UCL trophies in its history.

Sporting was obviously prepared, but that couldn't be said of Galatasaray, judging by the way they performed woefully on the pitch. If not for the own goal committed by Inácio, they would not have had any goals recorded to their name. The fact that the match was played at Estádio José Alvalade could have contributed too. Let's see how the return leg would play out.

However, it is too demeaning to label Sporting a low-value team; I don't see it that way. As a matter of fact, they are rated higher than Galatasaray in the world of football.

Don't get me wrong, I know Sporting is a great team and ranked better but my point was comparing players each team has head to head and clearly Galatasaray is a richer club. It was great that I had 0 money on match day otherwise I would have lost it all on them, that is how confident I was.

On a side not here in the pool I did relatively well with being 5th after 1st match day.

If Vedat Muriqi and Oğuz Aydın had converted their clear-cut chances, perhaps we would have kicked off our Champions League campaign with a win against a strong opponent for the first time in 18 years.

I think the team’s fight and the chances they created are encouraging. If those missed opportunities had been capitalized on a bit better, the outcome—which overshadowed the performance—would have been very different, and this once again showed just how easily the focus of Fenerbahçe’s agenda can shift.

Yeah, that quiz story become viral. As Lithuanian, I'm very proud about coach Dmabrauskas, one of few bright things in our football.
Though, Sabah got most difficult draw and it's difficult to expect that they can take points from powerhouses like MU, Arsenal, Barca or Dortmund. But they have several games against their level opponents like Viking or Slavia where they can take points.
