DK Yoo, who boasts over 600,000 Youtube subscribers, was involved in the unusual virtual staredown with the 'PacMan' in Thursday's press conference in Los Angeles.

600k isn't that much. Women who stream their showers and baths get more.  Grin

This guy must be really popular in Asia because I've never even heard his name before reading the fight announcement and I'm interested in contact sports. I'm not a real fan but I tend to watch MMA and boxing matches and I've never even heard of this guy. Manny must be getting paid a lot to fight with this youtuber because it's a legend going against someone who was never a champ in any division of any sport. I feel like Manny facing a former kickboxing champ like Tate would be in the news everywhere and a youtuber that isn't even at the level of Jake Paul? Nah...

I've checked him out and he claims to be a master in a number of styles but people say he's lying. He knows many styles but isn't a real master in any of them.
I wouldn't fight him in Manny's place.

Lol, but in the grand scheme of it all, that is still a huge numbers and maybe he also has non South Korean subs.

This guy must be really popular in Asia because I've never even heard his name before reading the fight announcement and I'm interested in contact sports. I'm not a real fan but I tend to watch MMA and boxing matches and I've never even heard of this guy. I feel like Manny facing a former kickboxing champ like Tate would be in the news everywhere and a youtuber that isn't even at the level of Jake Paul? Nah...

Probably in his native country he is very popular, and we just know don't how everything started, who contacted who, but obviously, DK Yoo has a lot of connections to be able to get to Manny and making him to agree and fight him. Probably there is money involved, but as the news say, majority of the proceeds will go to good cause.

I've checked him out and he claims to be a master in a number of styles but people say he's lying. He knows many styles but isn't a real master in any of them.
I wouldn't fight him in Manny's place.

There's a lot of this so called master who claim that and challenge MMA fighters. But in the end, usually this master are getting knock out, hehehe.

Never heard this one before, thanks for this.

Although an exhibit fight is not new to us but the difference of this unlike mayweather is that pacquiao do it to help/donate not for himself anymore since this guy have everything he have already. Kudos always to pacman of good doings.

It doesn't matter what's the purpose, some boxers would say they'll give to a charity for publicity, hopefully, Pacman is true to his statement that he would really donate the proceeds. I mean, he is a politician, we know how politics work in the Philippines and we know how politicians think.

Out of curiosity, not sure if what do you mean about Pacquiao I believe that he meant that when he said part of his earning from this fight will be donated to his supported charities, but bringing politicians mindsets maybe yes Pacquiao is a politician but before he enter that field he already sharing his blessing to our poor countrymen.. Just sharing my thoughts, but please correct me if I'm wrong.. Wink

We don't really know what's real or not these days because of these collabs of YouTubers, we cannot even tell if they're telling the truth or not or if it's scripted. That's why in this fight, I don't have any high hopes that Pacquiao will show DK Yoo what boxing is because this is just an exhibition fight and in the end of the day, both of them will smiling because they garnered Millions again, but this time is okay because the proceeds will go for the charity.
Same with how I assess this exhibition, at the end of the day both will simply give the smile to all the fans that will support the intentions of this fight. Charity works and good paycheck from the promoter and advertisers.

That is much likely even if they will say mainly Manny Pacquiao that they will prepare so much for this fight just to entertain their fans around the world. Even if we'll turn the world upside-down, this is still an exhibition fight. They won't really sweat it because this not a pro-fight that they should take seriously and Pacquiao won't surely give DK Yoo a hard time.

Part of the advertisement to engage with the fans, seeing Manny preparing and with a kind of video shared, seems he is still active and he can take another pro-fight if the money involve is decent. We never know what's the plan and the possibilities to bring him back in the real ring might happen. Who knows? But let the future dictate that..

I've checked him out and he claims to be a master in a number of styles but people say he's lying. He knows many styles but isn't a real master in any of them.
I wouldn't fight him in Manny's place.

Well, he's also a coach for a living while claiming to be a master of numerous martial arts styles but here he is, fighting the legendary Manny Pacquiao in a sport which he is not that well experienced. That's just like bringing a fist on a gun fight where he's in a disadvantageous state. But anyway, this is not a pro-fight so it's very unlikely that we will see DK Yoo sleeping on the canvass. This is just a friendly fight after all with an aim to entertain the audience.

DK yoo would be normally trying out to say some things specially on being that master on some martial arts? It doesnt matter if he does know all of them but since you would be fighting boxing
which you would really be claiming out that its not included on your list then you could possibly had some reasoning later on.  Cheesy

Fighting out a legendary fighter even if this is the old Manny pacquiao but this guy do still have the speed and power which it doesnt mean that you could belittle him
or being too confident that you could beat up.

Well, this is an exhibition fight which it isnt really that surprising that matches been made is mostly on cross-sports.So it doesnt really give out that much interest on my part.

Only those who like to see Pacquiao inside the ring will probably gain the interest of watching this fight. It's an exhibition fight which intentionally to earn decent profits to donate to their chosen charities. I see your point if you don't see any excitement about these upcoming fights, the target is the S. Korean crowd who might have interest with DK Yoo, people who are likely interested to see Pacquiao in person and fighting inside the ring, against a youtuber who's claiming to be a master of some martial arts, at the end of the day, it's all on the entertainment and they both will earn money from the time that they will spend to entertain the people who will buy tickets to watch this event.

Pacquiao's last fight as a professional boxer was Aug 21, 2021. That is over a year now. I do not think that he still has the power and the speed that we used to know. Even in his last fight, he is already stiff and does not have the footwork that we used to see. This is just an exhibition match so I do not expect to see anything fancy or reminiscent of the previous glory of Pacquiao. I will watch this just for entertainment value and for being sentimental about seeing Manny Pacquiao in the ring again. But I do not expect very much because his opponent is not a real boxer.

Exactly the point, how can he utilize and use all of those martial arts he mastered throughout his life when the fight will take place on a boxing ring. Can't help but laugh about that fact especially now that he's facing a legendary boxer on a sport that he himself didn't master. But anyway, as said above, this is just a mere exhibition fight meant to entertain people, so it's safe to say that what they're saying are just mere words to market the fight.

DK Yoo would be seeing this as an opportunity on being known or make some exposure through fighting Manny Pacquiao.Just like the rest been saying that this guy isnt really that popular or heard off and fighting someone whose popular like Pacquiao would really be giving out some boost up on popularity. He wont mind about the result or outcome of the fight since he do already know that he wont really be having the chance.
Fighting a boxer on his own specialty and on a fighter who doesnt even have the idea on how to fight on that rules will surely be beaten up but since this is an exhibition fight then
power punches would be hold back down there.

Yes, I remember he mentioned that in his interview after losing the fight with Ugas, he's no longer the same Pacquiao that we used to know during his prime age and even he still have that speed and skills this upcoming fight is just an exhibition maybe we might see some but not the same with how we project him when he is inside the ring way back.

The enjoyment of the fans seeing him inside the ring is good enough to pay for the tickets as how you see it.

Cheesy

It's futile to expect an outcome or result on this fight because this is just an exhibition fight meant only to entertain, it's also expected that Pacquiao won't give all he got because DK Yoo face will likely deform as he's nowhere near Pacquiao's capabilities inside the boxing ring. DK Yoo's role is to collect his guaranteed money while getting his exposure from facing one of the legendary boxers.

Of course, he will lost his speed and power as time goes by, that's the natural process in boxing, when boxers are no longer in their primes, sooner or later they will have to lose just like what happen to Pacquiao in the Ugas fight.

But if you we are going to ask if him if he can still fight, for sure he will answer yes. And so he is back with an exhibition fight and wanted to see for himself if he can still pull the trigger. And so this is what exhibitions can do with former boxers, they can still box just like old time, but without the risk in their health and definitely could still earn money in the side (although reports says that Manny will donate his purse.)

DK Yoo, who boasts over 600,000 Youtube subscribers, was involved in the unusual virtual staredown with the 'PacMan' in Thursday's press conference in Los Angeles.

600k isn't that much. Women who stream their showers and baths get more.  Grin

True even a channel that utters lots of non-sense streams got way more subscribers than 600k.

It is normal to see Manny Pacquiao getting slower because he is already past his prime but even though he lost some speed, he is still quick on his feet.

True, this is why exhibition fights are created and are thriving because fans always wanted to see their idols going into the ring again.

For retired boxing legends then we dont actually know into our minds on why they do still consider on involving themselves on boxing as they had retired already.? If they do really mind off
their health then they wont really be considering on fighting back up again on the ring.If they do really mind off about on not on getting forgotten then this might be their inspiration
or something that do really mind off about having some fight for the benefit of some charities. Its true that minding about on whose gonna win wont really be that
relevant with these exhibition fights as if the results were already clear.

It is normal to see Manny Pacquiao getting slower because he is already past his prime but even though he lost some speed, he is still quick on his feet.

Either way, if he's slow now or not, it doesn't matter on this exhibition match as they will just perform for entertainment. Speed or anything is not a factor since the output and result of this fight are already scripted at the beginning.

No way Manny Pacquiao will participate in exhibition matches that terms will be the same way as sanctioned real fights. If that's the case, then he should just comeback from retirement and continue his legacy.

Yes, but as fans, we are still in awe with Manny during his prime, that speed of his and the power and maybe there are still fans wanting to see the old Manny. But as you have said, this is a exhibition match, he could show his speed or not, but it doesn't matter. We should be entertain already just to see Manny again in the ring even if it is again a Youtuber that we know he can beat easily.

But let's see if this is scripted just like the rest of the exhibition matches that we have seen so far.

Most exhibition matches are indeed scripted from the very beginning. It's almost an open secret. Although not every exhibition match are really like that because professional boxers has still pride. Most of them still want to win by doing their usual ways in boxing as a refresher as form of relaxation as well from retirement.

The good thing here in their exhibition match is that there are people who will also benefit because the money Pacman would get will mostly go to charity. Despite his age, surely Pacquiao still has the moves. He may be past his prime, but the training and discipline instilled to him will surely remain despite being out of the ring.

Exhibition that will give them decent amount of profits, I agree that he will just show some and even it's just some his opponent will still have a slim chance to win, though it's a scripted fight but might possible that they will allow some converted punches, just curious if Yoo are capable to take an accidental heavy punch from Manny.

Can't imagine how it will going to be like if Manny converts a solid combo with Yoo chin, might be a KO sleep for him..

Can't imagine how it will going to be like if Manny converts a solid combo with Yoo chin, might be a KO sleep for him..
Yes, that is the reason I still have the urge to watch this match. I want to see that accidental punch with Manny unable to control the power of it or DK's chin is just soft to handle it.  Cheesy
It doesn't matter if there's a need for payment in PPV, it's still entertainment and that's my only idea of how I can appreciate Manny with all the honor that he brought to the Filipino people.
DK should start preparing a strong abdomen and a thick face.
I heard stories that Manny's punches felt like stabs of a dagger.

Definitely true, the era of pacquiao was already over. It's been years when we saw him fight in his prime. I do not know also if Pacman has speed like before. I know that everything can happen and he is the only boxer who have eight division world champion. I know he can still fight but we should now expect that his agility, speed, footwork and power is still in his prime. Probably this will not be an aggressive fight and there is a high chance that we cannot see a knockout. Hoping to see his left hook and left uppercut again.
