Whoever started this exhibition matches for the great retired boxers, it's really working on them and it's like a money making machine that everyone would like to pay a ticket just to watch them play the sport that they've loved even after their retirement.

Yes, these boxers think of a way to enjoy their favorite sports even out of retirement. It's just a matter now of who's boxer involved and who the opponent is as people will surely not just watch an exhibition match if the involved fighter is not that popular.

Nothing really wrong about that as they are not even forcing people to watch them.

If feel annoyed by these matches, simply just ignore those and move on.

And I guess if boxers like Manny is fully on board with this kind of fights, then nothing is wrong with exhibitions now and could be the norm for retired boxers to pursue again fighting boxers that their supposed to fight during their primes.

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/boxing/news/ricky-hatton-vs-marco-antonio-barrera-live-fight-updates-results-highlights-2022-boxing/l3nwiry6u3vivc1rt0tkuok1

So we should just enjoy this kind of fights and not be annoyed and embrace that this former boxers could have their last final dance and make some money too at the sideline, so win-win.

And with Manny signing with the Japanese promoter, expect him like 2 or even 3 exhibition fights for him in Japan.

As long as the boxers involved has a name, these exhibition matches will keep on going. As for Manny Pacquiao, he's still got a great name and a lot of fans, we can see how influential he is in many countries and that's why he's taken by this promoter.
What I can see here is that, whoever the opponent as long as it is him that will have a match, all of them will be sold out for the tickets.
That's how known Manny Pacquiao is and despite that he's no longer in the professional boxing, his contribution there is great and people have recognized him, so wherever he goes, the crowd goes there as well just to see him.

Before we close this thread though, I was surprised to read that Manny has signed the Japanese promoter Rizin,

Quote
Manny Pacquiao is taking his talents to Japan.

The 44-year-old boxing legend announced on Saturday that he’s inked a deal with Rizin to compete in the promotion in 2023 against an opponent still to be determined. Pacquiao appeared in the ring during the Rizin 40 card where he addressed the crowd at the Saitama Super Arena.

https://www.mmafighting.com/2022/12/31/23533315/manny-pacquiao-announces-he-signed-rizin-with-plans-to-fight-in-2023

So I guess there's no stopping Manny now for having this kind of exhibition fight this 2023.

And probably this is good, I mean he said that he is willing to face any of the current champion at 147 lbs in professional level, but we all know that he will be damage by either Spence or Crawford, so much better to stick with exhibition matches, just saying.

I agree. I don't doubt Manny Pacquiao's talent but honestly fighting the current champions of 147 pounds? Seriously, he won't be getting out of that fight unscathed even if he will just fight the challengers below the line of Crawford and Spence. Pacquiao already has done so many things when he was still fighting professionally, there's no need to prove anymore that he can still give a good fight because body is not that sturdy anymore and I reckon that it's been years already since he had an intense training. It's much better for him to focus on exhibition fights where it's much safer and he can still earn millions per fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is perhaps the richest sportsperson in recorded history. He received a record $300 million for his last fight against McGregor, which none of the other sportsmen can dream about. The good thing about Floyd is that he never splurged his wealth or misspent it. He was careful with his money. And also, he never overstretched himself. He retired at the age of 40, when a lot of critics were of the opinion that he had at least 2-3 years left. Given all this, I don't think that anyone can accuse him of being money minded.
$300M for real? With a match against a professional athlete for other combat sports. That's totally a lot of money and contract for him. That's a big payday for him and he's certainly fits to the alias that he's got, Money.
I agree that Floyd in terms of his wealth, he knows how to handle it. People may see him boasting all about it but that's not the point, he's worked hard for it wherever and whatever his financial situation right now.

Yes mate, that's true! Floyd Mayweather Jr. earned a whopping $300 Million in his fight against Conor McGregor while the latter have earned $100 Million, I guess PPV shares are already included and computed along the reported figures. Somehow that figures doesn't surprise me anymore because Mayweather and McGregor is the stars and most controversial athletes in their respective sports, so surely, an impressive revenue will be generated upon their collision.

I have learned that it is Floyd's biggest paycheck, 2nd biggest is his fight against the legendary Manny Pacquiao that earned himself $250M.
Yeah, they're stars and that's a lot of money for him. As for Manny's fight and his, that's still whopping much money. Does anybody know how much the biggest paycheck that Manny has ever got? I know that they're also that much but I have no idea about the exact numbers.

It's all about the promoter that's attaching the match on him. And he's just going to do whatever the deal is because he signed for it. The thing here is, it's all about money anymore while doing the sport that he's ever loved during all of those years that he's fighting for each win of it.

These are approximate figures, because neither the organizers, not the athletes revealed the actual payments. But the realized amount should be very close. It means that Floyd earned more than half a billion USD from just two fights (those against Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao). None of the past legends came anywhere close to achieving this feat, and I don't think that for the next 10 years any of the younger athletes will be able to achieve something like this. Canelo Álvarez earned much less for his fights against Golovkin and Bivol.

Guys, but wasnt RIZIN promotion is more oriented on mix martial arts? Which makes it possible for Manny to have his next fight as an exhibition boxing fight against some popular in Asia kickboxer or MMA fighter.  Like Mayweather had against Nasukawa. It was a RIZIN fight also. Imho we should not expect anything special from that Pacman contract with RIZIN.

As far as I know, RIZIN is the top promotions when it comes to MMA talents and kick boxing. So, I guess Manny Pacquiao sheltered with that promotion because they offered Manny Pacquiao a good and decent guaranteed money that is acceptable as a boxing legend in-exchange of fighting their top players where RIZIN views it as a guaranteed millions because maybe their fighters there are also famous and can attract audience with mixing Pacquiao on the equation.

That means that we're likely to see exhibition matches coming from RIZIN promotions athletes that have also signed for them. For those that know the background of the promoter and its athletes, I guess you're not going to expect a lot from it.
But those fans that don't look at that side, it's just all about having fun and watching Pacquiao having a match with whoever's set to fight him and that's everything to all of those fans that just want to be there to watch him box.

Doesnt matter on whose the promoter or whatever who do get in line with Pacquiaos exhibition fight then it would be surely be watched considering that he had lots of fans worldwide which it is really that expected
to look for those certain fights. Common sense thing that they wont really be arranging these type of fights if there werent viewers or demand. If Pacquiao's 1st exhibition match turns out to be successful or he
did really purse out some considerable amounts then why not on making another one?

Despite of being already retired, he could still pull off some good fights even if it needs to match up with fellow boxers which i do see to be interesting than into those non.

Most athletes love their sports so if it was up to them they would never retire, however due to their age and the punishment they have received during their careers they are left with no other choice as they cannot compete with the new and upcoming athletes, so it is a good thing that old boxers are finding a way to capitalize on their former fame and they can still earn money with the sport they love, even if their abilities are not with they used to be.

One of the things that I have always liked about Pacquiao is that, he has a big heart, he is a very complete boxer and also in exhibition fights they are very good and so good that it still causes that emotion in people and that Every moment they want to have more of the legend, Pacquiao's last fight was excellent, I think that everyone who attended was very satisfied with what they saw, it was actually a great demonstration of good boxing and great things that Pacquiao achieves when he sets his mind to it .

The fans are the ones who ask for his fights the most, no wonder, I think Pacquiao still has a lot of cartridges to burn.

Yes indeed, fans are calling for him and they continue to support him in whatever venue they will have a chance to see him, we will see more exhibition as Pacquiao showcase a good entertainment from that last fight. There is still a good connection between him and the fans, so if another exhibition will be scheduled for him then expect fans will be there to buy the tickets.

And like what you mentioned, real fight or not, the kind of entertainment fans will gain each time they see him inside the ring
is something that they will keep and treasure.

Well, apparently Pacquiao does not lose his level and it is something that is very evident, in an interview he said that he was not going to allow them to hit him, but I do not remember what he said the most that he could have left the ring without a single word. hit, the truth made me laugh a little because he is a boxer who has a way of saying it, but although for many it seemed like a somewhat derogatory comment and of course something that is excessive on his part, some say that he lacked humility, but I I think he said it to attract much more attention and generate more fame, this is something very common among boxers, only when Pacquiao does it, it does attract attention.

What happens is that a boxer like Pacquiao is a legend, there is no other that adds so many emotions to the fans, whoever manages him, for normal fights or for exhibition fights, in the same way, people are in vain looking for the usual way. go, personally it's a shame that they make those fights so far, because I would be a fan who would pay to see the great legend do his job.

Exhibition fights are great options to enjoy watching Pacquiao and his opponent with the caveat that neither of them will be hurt in a big way, that's what I like about exhibition fights, although I would still like to see them again. Pacquiao in a real fight.

Pacquiao always gives a lot to talk about:

Boxing star Manny Pacquiao reveals details of his contract with Rizin FF

Quote
The boxing star and former multiple time champion opened up about what his move to Rizin FF consists of. On Saturday, during the Rizin FF vs. Bellator event in Japan, the promotion revealed that Pacquiao had signed with them and is expected to make his debut sometime in 2023. No further details were given until Pacquiao chatted with the media backstage. “There’s great action, there’s great fights in Rizin, and the atmosphere of the crowd is amazing,” Pacquiao told reporters regarding his move to Rizin FF.

I am a bit confused here. I thought that Manny Pacquiao retired from professional sports after his loss to Yordenis Ugás. He announced his retirement on 29th September 2021. After that he has been involved in exhibition matches, but has refrained from professional fights. So the new contract with RIZIN means that he will return to professional sports? Isn't he a bit too old for that? And also, RIZIN mostly concentrates on MMA, but so far Pacquiao has given no indication that he will try his luck with that particular sport. It's really confusing.

Don't worry mate because you are not alone in the confusion made by Manny Pacquiao's recent big move towards RIZIN.

In my knowledge, this RIZIN is a Japan based company that caters MMA and kickboxers like the Dana White's UFC. So, I'm thinking that Pacquiao might have an encounter in the future with their highest paid athletes to fight Pacquiao in the ring and generate Millions worth of revenue. I'm not sure though but that's the best speculation that I can think of. They should've give more details about this to clear up the people's confusion in this matter.

When they smell some honey, they will not hesitate to make some money and this is the trend nowadays because there are still lots of fans that are willing to watch those kinds of fights. They found the right thing to do without hurting both fighters too much like in real fights because they already trained to lighten their punches to avoid any unnecessary injuries. But the high payments are still there and this is the same reason why the likes of Manny Pacquiao still fight in the ring even though he is already past the age when most boxers retired from boxing.

Damn Pacman is still up to make noise in MMA! Can't imagine how much would Pacman's contract will be for Rizin. He is paid more than 100 million of USD in each boxing match, I doubt Dana white can afford him, and least of all RIZIN which is just in Japan. Who is he fighting?

If Logan is still up to it and can still face the public despite thier scams, I think Pacman will fight either Logan.

it is His pride that makes Him stay away of Regular Boxing fight because of His retirement so now he might be moving to other areas when he can explore at the same time use His skills and ability specially in boxing.
though i don't think he will fit in MMA type of fight because I believe in octagon there are many skills that fighter needs to have than just to Box because there are grapling kicking that available in which I believe not his way .

The reason is fans still wanted Pacman inside the ring. Whatever deal behind it, there's huge money that will accompany this kind of movement
from Pacman, we know how business works when there is a huge amount of money that in stake.

Expect that the announcement will surround social medias to hype the upcoming possible fight of Pacman, we don't know yet what will be
the plan.

But surely expect the huge amount of money that will be involved in this contract.

Maybe the octagon is not the right place for him but he will definitely play because that could be one of the reasons Rizin signed him, it's just that the match will be softer with the choice of opponents that won't give Pacman significant difficulties so that the match will not be much different from the exhibition match where the target is only Monetary, entertainment and promotion of MMA is to more popular in Japan and Asia

Pacman will be making his debut match for an exhibition match but the match announcement and his opponent have been kept under wraps right up until now, possibly him being matched against a standard ability opponent to increase Rizin following. I was very surprised that he had signed a contract with Rizin recently, would he have been prepared to fight for MMA skills, maybe he has been training hard for it for the last months.

The promoter does matters IMHO. If they've got an established name already, that's much better and Manny won't just sign in to a small promoter that's not even known yet.
That's why it's an important notion for someone like him to know the promoter first before signing in. Even he's just trying to enjoy his retirement and trying to have some exhibition matches, I think that he's still get to pick the best promoter that offers decent deals.
