Great to have a different topic as the other one is overrun by people playing the fantasy game which I am not a fan and also not part of but I am happily a member of the traditional pool and can't wait for this to start.This will be a short event and the prizes although not yet completely clarified are looking good in the Games and Rounds thread.I don't think we will have many surprises as the groups are pretty straight forward for the big teams to win their games but I don't exclude surprises.

I love a saying which one of coaches in the local soccer Championship here says,that he is managing the best team and when he draws or loses he comes up with a great argument which is "We can't win always because also the others know to play football".

With the embattled Ronaldo of Manchester, can this lad take Portugal all the way despite being out of form, or will it be the super trio of PSG ( Mbapper for France, Neymar for Brazil, or Messi for Argentina) that will take their respective countries all the way ?? For all I know, this Worldcup is going to any of these four big names based on their teams' firepower. But not to get ahead of myself, a few teams that will  be on my watchlist are Senegal, Spain, and Belgium all seem to have that spark and wont go down without a fight but fingers crossed let's hope my teams come through

For me Argentina has the best team compared to many others as Brazil is lacking or better I don't know most of their team players except the ones we all know but nothing is excluded even from the European sides,they can surprise us all by winning this World Cup.

Ronaldo is not embattled, he took the battle on himself, and has lost the respect of so many people. I never liked him to begin with, but I at least had a lot of respect, now I'm only respecting his abilities, I think he has given football such a terrible reputation now from neutral sports observers.

Remember Ronaldo no longer carries his team, he wants the team to carry him. He would have helped carry Portugal on for sure but they cannot keep thinking they can win things with him in that kind of attitude. And I bet secretly they also don't want this anymore. Even Portuguese clubs have not offered to take Ronaldo back, what does it say?

Only a week more to go!
I honestly felt I'd be more excited, I hope I'll be once it starts.

Our team is in good form and is traveling to Qatar in a good mood, I'm fairly confident before our 1st game against Morocco.

The problem is that in the knockouts we are immediately paired with group E, which means that there's a 95% chance we play either Germany or Spain in the 1st knockout round.

I went with Argentina with to be the champion, and I think that'd be solely due to my biases over Messi deserving it, I mean what's left to win in his career, there wouldn't have been a better way to end his international career.

but if it's about the squad, I think England with the right tactics would go very far, and Brazil isn't any bad as well, but I don't see France going too far.

I don't remember if I got with Argentina in the FIFA small side prize that we have but I know that I have put Argentina at least up the final there while I am also cheering for them this time because I think they have the needed maturity now and Messi will most likely be playing his last important event of his football career.If this is not enough chances of Argentina are further heightened by the super easy group they are in and that is a promise that they will be at least up in the quarter finals before they fight an important strong adversary.

The main event is on Superbru and prizes,the big ones are here.We are also making a side competition through the FIFA which you have it right,you find the outcome of the whole tournament and for that I think there is a small consolation prize.

If you can manage to bring more people from the German board that would be great as the EPL pool is going really really great because of the big number of participants there and here as far as I know we are far from reaching that number so any addition is welcome.

I think that France will be a negative surprise, no team atmosphere is always a bust

Argentina does seem much better, but I will go with Netherlands outright (would be England, but I do want to take it below 10 odds), they have solid young team, good team spirit, and viable draw, of missed England in first round, Argentina in QF

I think England will surprise us all this time,they have like Argentina a very matured team in the forwarding division with best players like Kane and Sterling,adding to them young talented players in defense and midfield with a couple of other veterans.They need to win this and as they say "it's coming home" after almost 40 years since their 1966 success at such event which if I remember correctly they were the host country at that time.

Also Argentina is a very strong contender and some team that I am surely going to be on them to be a winner as the odds should be good right now before the start of the event during this weekend.

That might be true. However, they still have the best players in the tournament.

Even though Christopher Nkunku has unfortunately been injured at short notice, the French squad is still nominally the strongest (IMHO). Just look at the strikers. It doesn't get much better than this:

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Kingsley Coman (Bayern München), Ousmane Dembele (FC Barcelona), Olivier Giroud (AC Mailand), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) and ofc Kylian Mbappe (Paris St. Germain)

Yep, you're right. If it's Brazil vs. Argentina, I'm confident that this time the game will go in favor of the Argentines.

Cant wait for it to start. Thats really good there is 4 games a day that gives us 10-12 hours of matches everyday so the entire day we can just watch football and enjoy. For me Brazil is one of the main favorites,but i think my country Serbia will go really far in the World Cup.

I think having this much of strikers might be to their own detriment, just saying though, because It could only remind me of Argentina some years ago, when they seemingly have the best strikers combination going into any tournament, but their midfield was quite a disaster and it ended up causing more harm to the team at large, I meant when Argentina were heading into those tournaments with forward lines consisting of Aguero, Higuain, Tevez, Messi, Di Maria, Diego Milito, Javier Pastore and Martin Palermo.

I guess we'll see how it all unfolds, it's just around the corner.

It's convenient to have a separate topic, yes, but actually I'm already confused about the threads  Tomorrow morning I will have to make a plan where and what I should do. The pool is the simplest since Superbru sends notifications. There remains a competition where you need to make a bet of 0.5 mbtc in each round, plus a Fantasy football competition (I don’t know what and how to do there yet), plus I have already made a separate forecast on how the teams will perform at the World Cup. Totaly 4 competitions, right?
