My Desktop Review of Utopia P2P Ecosystem

I have installed the desktop application on my Windows 10 laptop. I did not face any problems while installing the application. I disabled the windows defender before the installation. I guess that is why the installation went so smoothly. What I found interesting is that no registration was needed to access the platform. A welcome screen popped up as soon as I was on the platform.

The welcome page gives a brief tour of the functionality and important benefits of the platform. It also displays the Public key which is my address in the network. Later on, I found out that you can find it in your profile too. After going through the welcome page the first thing I did was to change the UI theme to Dark. After changing the theme it felt soothing to my eyes. The dark theme made the UI more impressive than the Light theme.

Next, I went to my profile and changed my Avatar, added my mood message, and updated my nickname. I also wanted to create my uNS name but unfortunately, I did not have 10 CRP. Next, I went to the chat lobby and I found out that the team will be launching U Music soon. This will be another great addition to the platform.



What did I like most?

uNS (Utopia Name System): I was not able to create my own uNS as there was a cost attached to it. I wanted to know why the team was charging for it. While going through the faq I found out that it is the decentralized version of DNS that runs within their ecosystem. After going through the faq I felt this feature is one of the best UPS of the ecosystem.

Suggestions:

uMail: At the moment it is restricted to emails within the ecosystem. The team should enable mail to and from other mail services. The process of sending mail is tiresome as the sender needs to first add the public key of the receiver in order to send mail.

Crytpon Exchange: I felt that the team should come up with features to enable buying CRP on their platform using local fiat or other cryptocurrencies. At the moment we still have to go to third-party exchanges to make that purchase.

Overall my experience with the ecosystem was great. What makes it phenomenal is its ability to integrate so many different things into one screen. To make it more trustworthy the team should make the source code open. Hoping the team discloses some parts of their code as they mentioned in the faq in the future.

I finally received my CRP tokens and am ready for my review. The review is divided into two categories—features I liked and Features that didn't really stand out.

Features I liked:

• Registration - I downloaded the Utopia software on my Mac and the registration process was a smooth experience and intuitive as well. It didn't take long before my Utopia account was up and running. Simple and straightforward as it should be.
• Chat - There are a number of active chat channels to keep users busy in the Utopia ecosystem. Aside from just sending and receiving value, it was fun to communicate with other ecosystem users and stay engaged with them.
• Utopia AI - So Utopia has its very own AI chatbot which is based on GPT and it did justice to some of my questions. What's interesting is that the AI is trained on some Utopia ecosystem data so it can answer questions specific to the Utopia ecosystem. This a quick way to get clarity on some of the platform features. This earned a point in my books.
• CRP<>UUSD swap feature - Easy and intuitive built-in service to swap between CRP and UUSD. Bonus point for the near-zero fees.
• Full provenance of Treasure Data - The Treasury and ecosystem data such as UUSD supply, transaction volume, fees, etc have full, real-time provenance data.
• Shop with Utopia USD - This is another feature I loved.
• UI colour schemes - Loved the fact that there are an array of colour schemes to choose from. Classic Dark was my instant favourite.

Features that didn't really stand out:

• UI/UX - As someone who has used plenty of software, The overall user interface and user experience weren't very intuitive for me. I had a hard time learning what features and tabs meant and early on, it wasn't easy to navigate the application. Sometimes, I navigate out of a tab like Chat Lobby and can't immediately know how to go back. Also, The user interface is clogged up as there are so many things available on the screen at the same time. If the UI gets a modern revamp, then it would definitely be a 5/5 vote from me. 
• Utopia AI improvement - Liked the AI chatbot feature and wished it was faster. I also wished the chatbot could maintain the context of the current chat. I asked a follow-up question to my previous prompt and it didn't have the context. 
• Scroll-ball issue? - I had a subtle issue with my mouse scroll ball not working well with the screen scroll of the application. For instance, I was scrolling in one of the channels here using the scroll ball, the page went numb.

There are many things that I have not been able to experience yet, but really from a user's point of view, I appreciate what is on Utopia, it brings a friendly feeling and is easy to use right from the moment it is downloaded. down as well as register an account on the system. I got the CRP a few days ago but I still have other things to do on rl so I asked permission to postpone @joeperry's review and I can finally do this now.

The first impression when registering I was quite happy because it was quite easy and I tried Signing out and then logging back in was also quite simple.


The main display we are presented with some information that is in utopia including features and some other information such as utopia for smartphones (I want to try later).

For other things I also like this detailed thing that is in the initial display of utopia.
because with this we can control whether we really want to open automatically or not this application and I like this detail because with the condition of my PC which is still inadequate and when opening utopia sometimes there are still some problems that occur due to the too old PC so this feature is quite good for me.


This is also quite good because for the first time opening maybe we still need some more introduction but for those who have read and already know I think this is not really needed and with this feature we can eliminate and do not need to look back when opening utopia.


Although for some people this might not be a problem, for other reasons I also like the theme because I don't really like bright backgrounds, so having several choices in this theme makes utopia more valuable in my eyes.


Since I'm using my smartphone's wifi (not my provider's wifi) of course this is useful because seeing how much data is taken when opening utopia I'm quite happy with this feature because at least even though there are some things that might be reduced because the features are slightly lowered but this is also good enough to save data.

The next thing I did was to try a CRP to UUSD swap and it worked out pretty well, I did a 2 CRP swap for the first try and I got $0.98.




but when trying to complete there was a little problem because it took me about 15 minutes don't know if this is my computer or my slow internet but looking from the history when looking at the time it was only a minute.



My assumption is that this happened because my Internet or PC was a little problematic so it was stuck and seemed to take a long time but actually looking at the records it can be said to be very fast for the swap.


I tried chatting with the AI in utopia and was quite surprised that utopia had been in development for quite a long time in 2013 even though it was secretly and officially released in 2019.
This is another new knowledge for me about utopia.
As for the AI response, it is very fast and I like this.

I also tried chatting on the Channel with new people and saw that some of the notes up there that were busy were the 18th raffle and maybe next time I will also try that

lastly I wanted to try a game and there were 2 games available 1. Chess 2. Poker.
I'm not very good at poker and tried to play chess but it does seem like you have to have a friend in contact first to be a match opponent.

I'll try to find new contacts to play with when I'm free but maybe I want to give a little input in this regard why not provide another bot for chess so this can also be something more for connoisseurs although it might need an update but I hope so

I might end my review but I don't rule out the possibility that there will be some additions that will follow after I use utopia several times at other times.

While waiting for the 5 CRP token to be sent by the Utopia team, I was able to go through the Utopia software app and see how it works; therefore, below is my review pertaining to the Utopia software or wallet.

1- Downloading/Installation of Utopia app and registration of account
As expected, the process of downloading and installing the software was easy because everything went as normal as with other software; the downloading was fast as well as the installation.

After installing the software as instructed in the review thread, I proceeded to create an account with Utopia, which went through without a hitch, and I must say that their software is incredibly user-friendly.

2-Utopia Home page and other features.
As many users have already provided screenshots of how the home page appears, I believe I will simply point out how well the home page is organized with some important features that make the app very easy to access without too many difficulties so that even someone with little knowledge of cryptocurrency can access it.

-IM
-uWallet

Because Utopia has made it easy for users to transmit and receive any legitimate information on the Utopia software, as well as send mail to support for help and other critical inquiries, these features were built for the user's privacy and anonymity.

Furthermore, the Utopia wallet was made available in the home page to offer the user with a summary of the assets in his possession as well as alternatives for managing them.

-3 Swap and Crypto cards.


Before receiving the allocated 5 CRP for the review, 0.01 CRP was airdropped in my wallet, making my total CRP 5.01 after the 5 CRP were sent.I intend swapping all my CRP to the Utopia stable coin UUSD, and the entire swapping process was very smooth because I find it very easy to swap. I then receive notification immediately after the process is successful.

I found the crypto card very useful and a good development because the card can be used to receive CRP tokens from different users in the Utopia ecosystem.

-4 Other features.
Utopia, in order to make the program more user-friendly, has included games in the app that should delight users while also encouraging them to use the software more frequently.

Furthermore, they give tools for customers to monitor certain behaviors, such as the network dashboard, which allows users to monitor the network for safer transactions.

-5 Security Observation
While attempting to export my Utopia private key and seed phrase, the app displays my password rather than requiring me to enter one before granting me access. If someone was using my PC and accidentally acquired access to my Utopia app, that person van now had access to my private key, which is extremely dangerous.


Am I the one getting it wrong?
If yes pls further explanation is needed.

Conclusion
At the end of my assessment, I can conclude that Utopia software was properly built for its objective of decentralization, and I can see how users' privacy was protected; also, the app has user-friendly features, and the mode of operation is simple, fast, and accessible.

Finally, the Utopia software is disturbing in the background, which makes it a bit unsafe since when I turn on my PC, the program will immediately open in the background, which appears unsafe because someone in that position may rapidly obtain access to my money.

As a result, if there is anything that can be done to stop this, and if it is only happening on my side because no one has complained.

Introduction

I received 5 CRP on my wallet with details of the transaction displayed at the bottom left of Utopia wallet.

Installation Process
The process for the installation of Desktop App was a straight forward process without any hassle which I believe a newbie should be able to handle confidently.
Utopia wallet automatically launch itself after a PC start up or Rebooting,  however the issue can be disabled at the settings.
Utopia wallet is well integrated with the various components and features of a standard wallet which is a positive and a good idea.
The main user interface of the wallet is topnotch and easily navigable.

Software Components

File : This is an important feature of the App which provide user information and featured export of personal database, change of password and back up of the private key, seed phrase with copy and paste button is a very commendable idea and one of the most important feature of the wallet, other features of the file components is also beneficial to the users.

Edit Component
This is where all sort of editing is carried out by the user if necessary.
Search Component
This gives access to users for chatting activities for users who are equally interested with chatting with other users of course important issues with regards to the wallet, CRP can be discussed it's a indeed a welcome idea.

Contact Component
This consist of Add, contact address book which can be used to keep or store other users address with their public keys attached, This feature will assist a user to have an instant access to wallet addresses of other users when prompted to send CRP via the wallet, Instead of searching for their CRP public wallet address from other or another source.

View Component
This feature allow any Utopia wallet user to customize the theme to their preferred choice of course there are different options to choose depending on individual, personally I choose the light Dark mode to avoid too much exposure to light.

Umail Component
This feature sending and receiving of mails just like the normal email platforms,  this is another option for users to send important messages and files swiftly.

IM For Chat
This is meant for user chatting activities sending and receiving chat messages, it's also a very good idea to enable users issues get well addressed promptly and communicate with other users effectively.

Uwallet
This the main and the most important component of the wallet, well placed and wallet address visible to the user with copy and paste button.
A click on Send button promptly opened the transaction page where all the necessary details with a comment box and the total balance of 5 CRP was displayed, it consist of
• Send CRP
• Send Utopia USD
• Verify Transaction etc
Basically all those features of uwallet are of the highest standard of any type of wallet thus a easy to use without any complexity by a new user.

Games
This is another feature of the wallet for game freaks specifically for Chess and Poker players at their leisure time just to get occupied by gaming with that feature.

Help
This component is very helpful for users who has any issue consigning any feature of the wallet, it discerned every details about all the information of the wallet.

Conclusion and Suggestions

✓ Automatic launching of Utopia wallet should be completely disabled because a newbie might not be able to locate the actual disabling settings though after installation the App is visible on the Desktop window for easy access.

✓ The developers should include a switch mode button at the start up or launch of the software with an option of Basic mode and Advance mode of the software, the Basic mode should feature Uwallet and Transaction details page only for easy access for Newbies while the Advance mode should feature the main wallet.

Finally based on my review Utopia wallet is of standard and one of the best wallet and it developers should continue to promote the project so that it will be globally accepted.

Review for Utopia software (desktop version)

After downloading the Utopia software, I immediately went to create my account. The registration process takes a few minutes, as I only need to prepare a nickname and a strong password before I can start using the Utopia client. Moving on to the pros and cons of the software after checking out most of the key features shown during the welcome tour.

Pros

• The uNS (Utopia Name System) is a convenient alternative for the public key.
• The view menu gives you the ability to pin certain tabs like the uWallet and Channels on the left side and offers a bunch of themes (light, dark, etc.) and the layouts are a nice touch.
• The process of swapping CRP to UUSD or vice versa only takes several seconds.
• The network fees for swapping coins and creating uVouchers are very cheap
• Web proxy allows you to use the Idyll browser to browse the internet with better security similar to Tor.
• The chat and channel history allows you to precisely search for texts and include specific dates.
• The crypto card that can be found in the uWallet only requires a 3 CRP fee to create.
• You can chat with the Utopia AI during the welcome tour or once you open the IM tab.
• The links that you click in the software automatically use the Idyll browser.
• The settings page offers several options for changing the notifications settings, chat settings, uMail settings, and more.

 

Cons

• The Idyll browser isn't easy to use from the start there are no recommended or suggested links to use and I found a working link that led me to their forum after browsing the uWallet.
• Sending and receiving an email through uMail is limited to Utopia software users.
• The crypto card is only limited to CRP.

Suggestions
The view help under the help menu might be worth mentioning during the welcome tour since it's similar to a FAQ section that I think would be helpful to the new users. A minor suggestion on the games is to add a bot so we could at least try them out. The uMaps could fit under the channel tab as it's a way to see what other public channel is available to join aside from the default Utopia chat lobby.

My overall experience with using the Utopia software is good, it contains so much that I didn't expect to see like the games. I only saw a few cons that needed to be mentioned while checking out all of the features. The Channels tab stands out a lot for me as it gives out that Telegram vibe, and you can easily browse other public channels by pressing space and enter. The uVouchers, crypto cards, and swap that I tested worked smoothly, and all solid features under the uWallet.

This is my take on the Utopia software platform

As anyone in the Bitcoin community should be aware, you should be very careful downloading any software on to a device that hosts any wallets containing large sums – that’s just a common sense approach. That being said, this does feel like a substantial application that someone (probably a large group) has put a lot of effort in. I feel their website could perhaps be improved to convey where the organization or company behind it is based, because sometimes a lack of anonymity from the developers helps to keep them honest, however it requires a very fine balance because they don’t want to be personally targeted either.

Anyway, on to the functionality of the software. I was looking for ways to spend the funds, but have struggled to do so yet. It feels like they are still in the earlier stages and trying to gain traction, because a critical mass of people is required for it to become a self-sustaining ecosystem. What really attracted me were the Poker and Chess options, which look to be of a high enough quality to grow in future once more players come in.

I like the community functions within the app, like the map where people can create local room offerings for various purposes, like P2P escrow, which could gain trust over time. The fact that you can communicate through side channels and private messages all help.

It has a lot of potential and feels very much like a smoothed, finished product, now they just have to build out the market place and side offerings. Once they figure out a solid strategy to get lots of users returning and feeling safe with using the software, it can really go far. There are always doors opening in the market, as we see with the current exodus of Twitter users who are facing viewing restrictions right now, so it may be in a position to capitalize on such swings.

As an end user, it would be nice to have a couple extra places to spend the coins that were kindly given, even if it’s just through some sort of basic games like Dice or a lottery, where many users pool their cash into an automated program, which will at some point (hourly, weekly, monthly, etc.) cash out to a randomly picked winner.
Security and transparency are going to be huge concerns for people in the cryptocurrency space, so any steps that can be taken to alleviate those fears will be well spent. It should also be highlighted up front, in the most prominent manner, that the program is using your computer resources in the background to help sustain and diversify the network.
