They spent too much of the ball in midfield, lacking the initiative to penetrate the English defense. For example, there was the header that hit the crossbar and Nyland error that led to Bellingham second goal. Sorloth took that shot because he felt he could score, not because he didn’t want to pass to Haaland, had it gone well, he would have been gloryfied, but that’s just how it turned out.
The fact remains, however, that Norway had an excellent World Cup and have laid the foundations for something great in the future, as their youth academies are developing well and producing excellent players.

The English defense's alertness in containing Haaland was quite successful because he is a very complete striker. The England coach probably gave them specific instructions before the match to guard Haaland. The result was quite good, and they managed to advance to the semifinals where they will face the defending champions Argentina.

Sorloth generally had a poor game. Around 80% of his passes were backwards, and he didn't really show much desire to play forward. Whenever he got the ball, he wanted to finish the move himself at all costs. He had Haaland open on the other side, and they were on a 2-on 1 counterattack.
