it means enjoying the act of gambling. what I meant by it, is, not worrying too much about the profit or the losses, the main focus is to enjoy gambling. sure I'd love to end the gambling session with a profit but it won't bother me if I don't. I guess the amount of money that I gamble(which is small) is the reason why it doesn't really bother me when I lose.

Have fun, that is the hope of most people in gambling, but the truth is that the average gambler wants money. In the early stages (before addiction) they may stick to first principles, but once they are addicted, they will try to make money off of it. Basically having fun in gambling is not something that any gambler can easily find but if they are responsible then fun can be expected.

For me only winning will make me happy in gambling, while if I lose, participating happily. I'm not hiding anything here, but it's a fact.

Same as yours I'm positive about my chances could be winning with the money that I allocated and when I lose I will never feel negative about it, gambling for fun starts with money that you allocated based on your budget and you never chase your losses once you chase your losses it's not fun anymore, and your intention is to really make money, people should know the fact about gambling and should never have a mindset of money first.

We can't deny the fact that, we're also aiming for the profit and that's the part of "having fun" in gambling.
Though, there are instances where a person consider gambling as pure fun and doesn't care much about the money, but those people are crazy rich individuals.

Gambling for fun to me depends on the result if you end up disappointed with a need to extend your playing time from what you already allocated then you are chasing your losses and your mind is out of control and you think more of gambling.
Having fun and moderation go together, it's hard not to moderate the time and money you spend on gambling without getting hooked on it, you should give time and importance to what matters the most, and if gambling is interfering with this then gambling is not for fun anymore it's taking over you.

Everyone says that they gamble for fun. The real fun when they were able to win and make some profit. Myself too have the same thoughts on gambling. Even when we start to play with the amount that we could afford to loss and end up empty it hurts and the mind thinks of way for recovery. If we are honest about this then it is obvious that even those that gamble for fun still care about whether they are making profits or not when they gamble, as otherwise then there could be many other hobbies they could practice that do not require the active use of our money to get some fun, still I think the majority of the gamblers have learned to get over their losses without too much of a problem and in this way they avoid becoming addicted to gambling.

True, Fun if we are winning, but Nothing is fun if we lose. In Chinese culture, that loss can make his pesky throwaway from the life, but there are still unhappy feelings even throw that, this is happening on my friend after got a big lost after playing Poker. He told me with this loss, this will make him always lucky in his real life because the pesky has thrown away from the loss, but he said that with a sad expression and told me again that gambling was just for fun.

Playing for fun doesn't mean you always have to lose money.
Even in games that don't involve money, who likes to lose? Of course, nobody likes it.

Playing games of chance for fun to me means having moments of great pleasure in which you gain a great deal of unexpected value, lose all that value, and then gain it again.
That emotion is what captivates me to keep playing.

Obviously, there are days when things go really wrong and I get really upset, but playing for fun is having the wisdom and ability to know when to stop, so that next day, next week or next month you're still having resources to go back to playing and have that emotion again, without having that weight on your conscience that you are sacrificing your financial life to maintain an addiction that should be something pleasurable.

Well then, we have the same definition of it. But, I don't want to argue with anyone who has other meanings about what "gambling is fun" is.
If that is what makes gambling "fun" for them then who are we to change that?
IMO, I don't linger with the losses but I do react when the team I am rooting for will lose, it's a combination of being a fan and the added spice of losing your bet.
But because I am just trying to enjoy every game, it won't be in my dreams or an unforgettable loss in my life, in a couple of hours I would have already forgotten it.

I personally think that the phrase "gambling for fun" is widely misunderstood by many gamblers.
They think gambling for fun means gambling without any interest or hunger for profit, no body enjoys loosing money, and this in the other way simply means, loosing money is never fun, but how we choose to react is what makes the difference...

I agree. The notion that you gamble without any greed is actually dumb, I've always said I gamble for fun but said fun is not about just playing the game cause if it was, I would've stopped spending money on what possibly could be a free game I could play countlessly for hours. It's the thrill. The thrill of the process and not the end result.

Some may say that just playing the game itself without any bets can bring said thrill, but employing it with money involved increases said thrill imo and just makes it more fun. If some people love risks by doing extreme mountain biking, flipping their motorcycles on a ramp, or jumping across rooftops, then well, this is my kind of thrill.

Your meaning of fun is almost the same as mine, i'd still look forward to making profits but it's not the main reason why I continue doing it, if I could put it in another way it's like playing at an arcade but instead of getting tickets, you win actual money. The socializing part made it even more fun for me as I slowly familiarize myself with the community and other people that are also interested in doing the same activity. Eventually, it becomes a regular thing and the experience is very similar to hanging out with your friends even though you barely know those people.

Well I don't think that anyone gambles and expects to lose their money.  "Gambling for fun" means the same thing to myself as it does for you.  I typically gamble on sports games ( I will play games like roulette and poker, but I prefer to main only do so in person) which gives me a little "action" for the game.  It adds extra excitement and a reason to pay closer attention to a game I might not otherwise care to do so.  But, whatever amount I gamble/risk, I am always going in with the hopes of winning but the expectation that that money is now gone.  I won't be enough that will allow myself to get mad at myself.  That's where I set my limits.

I think gambling for fun is the most misstated phrase on this forum. People say it a lot but they care more about profit than about fun.

In my case it is clear to me that the possibility of earning money is an essential component of fun, there is no need to fool yourself about that, but I take it as if in many leisure activities you spend money, with the difference that there is no possibility that you end the activity with more money than you had at the beginning, but in gambling there is.

I share the same thought.  For me, gambling for fun means raking in winnings, rewards, and bonuses.  I also agree that it is not fun to see our bankroll depleted during our session.  I also don't believe that people are trully gambling for entertainment's sake (without the thought of profit).  After all, what is our reason why we are betting and wagering amoutns if we don't hope in winnings?  So yeah gambling for fun to me is gambling to win.  But of course, I always gamble on what I can afford to lose.

I accept OP's view about gambling as fun or entertainment. Sometimes people including me think that we just gamble for fun, yet we also feel bad when we lose. That bad feeling is a clear indication that you have the intention of making a profit from the game. It's now clear that the definition of gambling as fun is the ability to gamble what you can afford to lose and control your emotions when you lose or gain. It also entails not seeing gambling as a source of revenue and being free from gambling addiction. I now know that as much as I am enjoying the game, I also desire to get some profit.

for the case of gambling just for fun it depends on each individual.
like myself when gambling I really don't expect to win. because I realize that expecting to win at gambling is one of the impossible because our luck when compared to the losses that we have incurred before is greater than the profit that was obtained from the victory at that time.
I once said in several threads that I gamble just to fill my spare time after working at the office and my free time is almost 4 hours every day and I spend my time gambling.
and I also gamble not using large amounts and sometimes only using money from the signature that I follow.
so I try to play with a small number of bets and it can last up to 3 hours. but if before 3 hours my money runs out I also stop gambling I never chase my losses.



so the conclusion is that I gamble using money that I really can afford to lose and if I win, I rarely get big wins and I use the winning money the next day to gamble again.
so if I get a win from gambling for me it's just a bonus to gamble again in the future.

some gamblers think gambling is a job to multiply money. something is wrong. they don't enjoy gambling games with the ambition of winning for sure.

for me, getting a win is a bonus. especially when playing slots. we play to our satisfaction. although we have to pay with money. make a bet, it is also part of our luck. if you get a win, it means luck, if you lose, then we're just unlucky.
if we are not strong financially, in the sense that our primary needs have been met. never to gamble.
