Anyway, it is his career and he has complete freedom to take whatever decision he want. For an athlete, his prime is quite limited in duration. And for Ronaldo, he is well past his prime. Now let him have the opportunity to wind down his career in a respectful way.

Maybe not so much when they are young, anyone who goes to Saudi league before 35 would be players who are not good to be at the top clubs to begin with, and Ronaldo was playing so much better than his current performance during those ages, hell even last year he had a hattrick at United, he was definitely good enough.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the highest salary is the only aspect it boils down to. But when we are talking about certain relative amounts of money, it does come down to it.
