The date and schedule for PSL 2026 has been announced recently. It will be the 11th season of this tournament, and it's one of the best leagues after IPL. The tournament will begin on April 16, 2026 and it shall be played across four cities of Pakistan that include Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi.

I wonder if the teams will retain their players or are there news of new players signing up for the PSL teams also ? Also i heard that they may add one or two teams more in this edition of PSL, is it so ?

Yeh once again PSL will start parallel to ipl, honestly most of people around the world believe it may damage PSL but instead of any minior damge they got some extra top class player to be the part, while regarding new team I think gilgit as well as faislabad were top favorite but it will depend on interested bider as they will choose thier team name and rest.
PSL management Behavior regarding Multan sultan owner tareen group is completely unnecessary and unjustified like he tries to just highlight the loop hole and some error at structure but management took it on ego and as a result tareen group officially say goodbye to Multan sultan, hope so addition of two more team will not effect the team stake at total revenue.

I agree with this because now IPL is having good control in cricket around the world and ICC is also give good back no international cricket during this time mean good number of fans and cricketers are able to participate in this. Recently few ICC events are playing into India just because of this PSL facing issues even these are temporary and due to some crap and biased policies of PCB things are going on wrong side they needed to be more professional and well organized if they want to have better response.

In last ten years they have done good job but still a lot missing due to non-professional mindset of PCB and PSL organizers things can take changes in future but for this needed more money flow and also better global viewership, but this is not easy for them due to the worst policies.

You are absolutely right while having parallel to ipl will have huge bad impact on PSL like low viewership as well as most of big name will be prefer to part of ipl compared to PSL like Rashid, gurbaz, Powell, Rutherford, A.joseph etc, but management were focused for having big new name like for a first time PSL got a name like warner, Mitchell, Allen, Joseph, owen etc after shift from UAE to take home land. Morever the big concern for PSL window were international duty whome restrict player to be a part.

while the second things is icc has alot that free window to ipl where most of team player were free from International duty to be IPL a part so PSL want to utilize that opportunity to grab the unsold big names at ipl, like recently Faf du Plessis has announced to withdraw from ipl to accept the new challenge to be the part of PSL and soon more will be on the way may be Maxwell too.

I heard there are some new changes and they are being implemented in all aspects of the tournament like auctions, purse balance, player retention, new teams and several others.

Yeh it's official Auction Time 🔥, PSL management after several meetings with franchise owner and fans feedback announced auction after having Draft system for last 10 season, obviously main reason regarding such huge change were to attract big names and keep the craze alive. Anyway rules were explained above clearly but regarding direct singing management has decide to keep no budget limit for franchise and the cool things is that such deals wouldn't effect thier total alloted purse of 1.6million$ for Auction like it wouldn't be deducted here, so they can have versatile option. Morever Sialkot announced his as expected "stallions" as his last name while Hyderabad may go for Kingsman as they already own Chicago Kingsman.

Now after having 4 retaintion but once per category create some kind of trouble for franchise as well as fans, for me as a Zalmi fan I would love to keep saim and baber both, but unfortunately rule hasn't allowed now due to same category. so what you would suggest zalmi to retain the king bobby or go for young superstar saim the future.

There will be eight teams for this 2026 edition of the PSL. The new franchises will be from the Sialkot and the Hyderabad region. This time the auction in February will feature some new rules like there will be reduced retentions and it will be 4 players per team and also it will be one per category like platinum, diamond, gold or silver.

The total Squad size would be 18, while the playing XI will be 11 players, four of them can be the overseas ones but not more than that. I think all these rules will have a positive impact on the league's lineups and create some challenges for the team.

Once again after PSL player auction workshop management has made some bold changes regarding upcoming auctions to keep the craze on top, base Price per category has been revealed for platinum, diamond, gold as well as silver and rest of business will be done in Pakistani rupees(pkr) only at auction, Morever management decide to keep the player contract UpTo 2 years to keep balance at team in term of strength and then mega auction will be take placed after every two edition of the tournament.

However to provide maximum opportunity for his domestic young gems management has set mandatory to keep 2 uncapped talent per franchise at squad minimum and every team should mandatory keep single uncapped player at playing XI for rest of thier tournament matches.

Registration for foreign players ahead of PSL 11 is also started and going to end on 3rd February while auction will be on 11th February every franchise will be able to spend 45 crore it's going to exciting season here in PSL 11.

Yeh I have seen his recent social media post where he explained situation and withdraw from PSL in order to focus on his foundation work back at his country which will definitely hit his career in coming edition at PSL, morever dozen of other afghan has already being register for PSL and hasn't been abuse nor critics by fans so why double standard with just gurbaz. Anyway now it will be interesting to watch whom gonna be next target for Peshawar zalmi, like for me I will say Faf du Plessis will be best option as they really need someone aggressive openers in order to filled saim ayub place alongside baber or should go for Maxwell in order to strengthen thier middle order.

I don't call it a good decision by Gurbaz for PSL as there has been love for him in Pakistan too despite the fact that there is some political tension between the two countries. For sure, he has to look for this security first and with that prospective he has taken the right step.

Being a PSL fan, you wouldn't want him out of the tournament. He was one of the players who had full energy, and I don't think anyone who replaces him can take his place in the true sense. I wish politics and sports should remain separate but it doesn't seem like this these days.

It is confirmed he is not going to be part of PSL 11. The reason he gave is that he will engage in some charity activities in Afghanistan after the end of the T20 World Cup, which seems to be just a cover phrase. Last year, during the Pakistan Afghanistan conflict, he made some hateful posts against Pakistan, and people started yelling at him and the owner of Peshawar Zalmi for choosing him. Understanding the situation, he withdrew his name, which is a suitable decision for him. We respect everyone and believe that sports should be separate from politics.

Finally PSL 8th team Multan sultan auction has been ended and officially walee group of technology aquire it with price of 245cr pkr annually (estimated 8.75millions$) after topnotch fight at auction. However Silakot stallion were expected to be the most expensive team of the PSL history after sold for 6.6millions, but now sultan beat them in term of price, Morever unfortunately Multan sultan journey comes to end as PSL management allow new owners to change team as well as city name and they decided to go with team sur name Rawalpindi while last name will be announced soon. It's true that we are just 2 days away from auction so it will be a hard decision for them to decide and take quick action to retain some big name as well as set team name , logo, kit colour as well as coaching staff and rest. Hope we will have a great combination before they head into auction.
