if regret makes us work even harder and look at things positively then that's a good thing, but sometimes many people fall mentally when they have a regret in life so that it drags on and makes a bad influence on life.
what you do to get up and keep going in a positive direction is an extraordinary thing that not many people can do.
Almost all adults who are still alive and have lived in this world have felt regret in their lives and also everyone has their own way of getting up from regrets or adversity that occurs as a result of these regrets. Because if those who regret do not awaken themselves, they will never feel comfortable in their lives and will never enjoy real life in this world.

Quote
my financial regret is when I missed a lot of moments for me to be able to take advantage but I can only watch it without being able to do anything because I don't have the money to get into it, maybe that's a common thing that happens to many people but I keep trying like what you did to make it a motivation for me to work hard.
A good opportunity that has passed is part of a small regret that you don't need to think about, because you just need to see other opportunities as opportunities for you to take advantage of so that there are no regrets a second time later. Because regret in life is just a valuable lesson that will make everyone pave a better path in the future.

If you plan it well their is no regrets in financial and if you don't plan it well you might've regrets financial, when you mislead your ways you will regrets financial, if you do well you will never regrets it.But buying some liability because it will just become a burden, and honestly it shouldn't fall under category of financial regrets either, since it will affect your financial badly, regardless though if the property you were regretting over could somehow give you money from the rent then I guess it could be your financial regrets.we do have our own regrets in certain phase of our lives. Even people who are living in indulgence are not excuse from it.

I was asked to buy a land back in 2019, and it was only $20000 and the area was huge. But it was in a village area. And I don't like village, as I grew up in a city environment. It was close to the city, but at that moment, I was more focused on other things and after that the pandemic Covid-19 hit. So I was just holding everything in my vault, hoping for the pandemic to get over soon. The lockdown made it more difficult to go out and invest in something. At that moment, I had no idea about crypto. So nothing to do, just to hold them in home.
After the pandemic, people are starting their works and some major company decided to make their branch around that land. Just close enough to push it's price to almost $50000. If I had just bought that back then.

A lot has been said and I agree with most of the points. Regrets are a constant in humanity, I try not worry about the things I cannot control. Your story is an interesting one, and is quite similar to newbies investing in projects without doing research or buying bitcoins without doing DCA. You didn’t do your research about the property when the offer was made, maybe you could have heard rumors that a big company was interested in that site. Any investment made without sufficient research and due diligence is no different from playing cards.

You'll never know the importance of the opportunity until it passes you. But the good thing about this kind of experience is that we learn from it.  People always have regret but we should accept them and let go of things so that we can move forward in life with peace of mind.

But I think it is not late to regain those lost profits, you can then try to invest in Bitcoin and hodl for a very long time, and you will see that the profit you gain from Bitcoin far exceed the possible profit you gain from that land.

I think almost everyone has regrets at some point in their life, especially when it comes to finances. Not buying or selling here or there or investing here or not investing there. Something like that just happens in life and you have to learn to deal with it. As the saying goes, you're always smarter afterwards.

As in your case with the apartment. You may regret your decision today, but who knows what might have happened if you had bought it. Maybe then something bad would have happened and you would regret the purchase.

Therefore, you have to see everything a little more relaxed and should not regret such decisions.  Wink
Oh, the woes of regret! We all carry them, do we not? Whether it's the missed opportunity of investing in Bitcoin or declining the job that could have turned our lives around, we all experience those "what-if" moments. But, truth be told, regrets are an inevitable part of life. We cannot always make the correct choices, and that is alright. After all, "to err is human, to forgive divine." So, instead of ruminating over what could have been, let us concentrate on the present and what it has to offer. In your instance, it is understandable why not purchasing the flat might make you regretful. But what good is it to brood over it? We cannot reverse time and alter the past, so let us look forward to what the future may hold. Maybe something even more excellent is just around the bend!
To be fair my life is pretty good right now, I agree that it would have been awesome if I bought bitcoin earlier, or even kept the bitcoins I had for longer period of time so that I could have profited even more. But none of that changes the fact that I am happy with my life.

Of course bad things happening all the time, plenty of terrible things happened in my life in the past 2 years, but I wouldn't say that it made me sad, I could say that it made me realize how much I love my life and how much I should be grateful for. Bad things shouldn't make you upset, bad things should make you fall in love with life and acknowledge all the good in it.

Exactly. Your thoughts on life in general are agreed here. I am also at a phase where bad things happen in life but overall I am so grateful for what I have owned. I did not start to appreciate what life has given me until I turned 30 years old. In the past few years, a lot of changes have happened in my life and I am becoming a responsible man who takes care of his family. You know what those life regrets are good for ? You've brought up the excellent answer.

I also have financial regrets. and of course the regret resulted from my mistake drowning in greed. However, from this regret, I learned a valuable lesson that led me to a better financial life. so I am more careful in all financial matters. because I don't want to fall in the same hole. and almost everyone also learns from mistakes due to mistakes in the past. So all we need to do is keep moving forward. and make the past a lesson so you don't repeat the same mistakes.

Yes, don't be someone who falls into the same hole, I want to emphasize that. Because a person who falls into the same hole in my opinion is a very stupid person, because he knows that it will harm him but he still does it, isn't that a stupid thing? Maybe my words are too harsh, but that's what I want to say.
We could have made another mistake because of our ignorance, but if it is a mistake we have already made then that is a very bad thing.

But I'd say not, because some people will try and think if they can do it but yes, not all go differently, some just fall like others.
However, this is not the regretful part I see, but being afraid to take risks is even more regretful. We can learn more if we are always afraid to lose and we never succeed if we are afraid to fail. Might we fail today and lose our money but that also serves as a lesson for the next attempt. Because it never works smoothly, it went hard earlier but it eventually change as we keep going.

My only financial regret way back 2017 was that I overspend my money on the things that I only wanted, not the one that I needed. I always make an excuse every single time, that I deserve those things because I didn't have the opportunity to have them when I was just a child, which is acceptable at some point but practically thinking, I believe not. It's not bad to spend on things you wanted but do not overdo it.

If you're gonna keep on clinging on those regrets, you'll never have the courage to make things right, you'll never become someone that you want way back then. As long as you are breathing, means you have the chances to try and try again until you make your dreams come true.

In looking at the past, I think most of us will feel that the wrong times and decisions bring financial regret in investments or in waste in life.  Only when the reality is over will most of what is supposed to be regrets.  My regret is that I squandered so much on gambling games in my pre-married years.  And later when I had children things became a lot more difficult.  I should have saved that money to buy bitcoin.

Exactly! I totally agree with you there. There's just no point in grieving over missed opportunities. It really is better to be in the here and now and see what good opportunities are now and are yet to come. If we all always made the right decisions, we would certainly live in a different world. Besides, who can say which decision is really the right one. We always only know the results of a decision, but not the result if we had decided differently. Maybe these would be better, maybe not.  Smiley

Indeed, it would be a waste of time to regret the missed opportunities of the past because we know that we will never have the chance to do it again. Instead of reliving those painful memories, we should spend time thinking and planning for the future, not letting those regrets repeat in the future. We are not gods, we are also only human, and humans will not avoid mistakes, and mistakes will help us humans to become more mature.

If it's about financial regret, I think people will regret bitcoin the most, because by far, it was the most profitable asset, but many people sold it early on, myself included. When I think back, I really regret selling bitcoin in 2016 and think bitcoin will die soon because it's nothing more than a scam. But in the end, I was too wrong with my decision. But it's not too late, I have started accumulating bitcoin since 2020 to now, and I will never let the same mistake happen again.

Yeah, already on it. But I bought it when the bulls were active. Currently I'm at 36% loss in this bear market. But as everyone says, Bitcoin is a long term investment plan. So I have no regret about it. I have plan to sell when I can get at least 25% profit from my investment in the next bull run. And invest again in the DIP.

I have a lot of financial regrets and just like yours, most of it are investment opportunities that I saw before and was doubting if I should buy or not. In the end, I didn't because if I did, I may have just been living in luxury today.
We don't really have to go that far in picking one of the biggest financial regrets in our life. BITCOIN! A very long follower and yet I was always late when I try to buy. It's not really like a regret but more of getting the courage. I should've taken a loan from the bank and bought it with Bitcoin while its price is at 3 digits. But because there's so much FUD that circling around, I was afraid to take the leap.
You are not alone in your bitcoin regrets. A lot of us have missed the opportunity of buying it while it was still very cheap. We could have been millionaires today. But lets not dwell on it anymore as it won't be helpful for us to grow in the future. Like OP, don't be bothered anymore on what you have not bought in the past. Learn and invest in bitcoin, Im sure this will lead you to a lot of bigger opportunities once you succeeded from it.

Lots had missed out that train and there are even early adopters who had just sold out their coins on a cheap price which they didnt really anticipate nor expect that this would really become that huge.

Ending up for them to have those nightmares and thinking that if they havent just sold those coins and hold for long time then they might already have been changed up their lives.

This is why it is really that hard to forget on things that we do have missed, somehow its not really that something late because we could still
make things possible but its not really that something simple.

I guess the majority of us have that regret related to bitcoin. Let's make it a lesson learned because we can't go back in time and we need to move on and keep on moving forward because that's how should our progress must be. And not only with bitcoin but with some altcoins too.
That will be a never ending thinking of that regret if we keep dwelling on that mistake in the past. We don't have a time machine to get back and hit the jackpot but we just have to bear with things right now.

This is why it is really that hard to forget on things that we do have missed, somehow it's not really that something late because we could still
make things possible but it's not really that something simple.

I also missed and regret not buying Bitcoin when it was first introduced to me by a friend. I regret that I doubted it since I had trust issues when it comes to online investments before. There were lots of what-ifs but regretting it for a long time won't help. That already served a lot of us a lesson but it's not too late for us to invest and buy Bitcoin these days. It's still an open opportunity for everyone to invest though we aren't as lucky as early investors.

-snip- It's not easy to talk about life regrets in general because we are/were in quite different situations. To make this thread easier, we just focus on the regrets in finances. I believe many of them can be lessons to learn from. -snip-
I think almost everyone has regrets at some point in their life, especially when it comes to finances.

Nicely said!  I do agree with you that all of us have our own regrets.  Since these are the times when we cowardly back down without even trying or we are too aggressive that we made mistake by indulging into an unknown business venture.  But the good thing is that we must learn from these mistakes and move on hoping that we can properly decide what to do next time.  Moving one is also an essential factor of releasing our selves from the regrets of the mistakes we made in our financial aspect.

Because emotions overcome us and we don't want to lose or get upset for the result that's why we end up not grabbing those opportunity showing to us before. But what's good in that scenario is we learn from those experience and we still have a chance to change that then grab the other opportunity and maybe from that we may have another chance to change our life again.
