I hope the next season of WPL becomes more competitive. This year everyone knew either MI or DC would win the first season. Both team played good but I was not happy with DC's fielding yesterday. I also felt the two wickets given in favour of MI in the early stage of DC batting were misjudged by the third umpire. This controversy will stay for sometime. .

In the end Congratulations to MI on the fantastic win. The WPL ended with a jam-packed stadium. It looks promising and now we need to wait for the viewership data to determine how successful was the first season.

I couldn't see the final match and saw the score later. From the very beginning I was in favor of the Mumbai Indians and they won the final. But I was in a bit of confusion in the finals match if Delhi Capitals Women was able to score a bigger then Mumbai Indians could have fall in a disaster despite having the power. Because cricket is uncertain. Delhi Capitals Women didn't collect adequate runs for win they just collected 131 which was not sufficient for the final match against a big team Mumbai Indians, so Mumbai Indians Women got a very easy win. Overall Womens Premier League 2023 was very enjoyable in the first session. Hopefully the next session will be more exciting and enjoyable.

Issy Wong early breakthrough give good advantage to MI, and they were able to bring DC under pressure from the start of their inning which helps them for restricting DC to this modest total which was not hard to achieve for the MI with Nat Sciver-Brunt play vital role to achieve this first title of WPL for the MI things are looking for interesting, but mostly fans were feeling from the start as MI are good and have enough quality to win this final and first title of this league which is good for them.

DC done good bowling, but their total was not enough to give them any support for having win in this match, but both teams were good in quality and also have enough performance from their leading players, but MI women's steal the show with their winning strategy.

What I want to see is more contribution from the Indian players. The overseas players completely dominated the league this time. The franchises who had the best overseas players finished on top, while others couldn't get to the knockout phase. The case with Royal Challengers Bangalore Women was different though. They had some of the best Indian and overseas players, including Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry. And despite all that they finished at the rock bottom of the points table. I don't know the reason for that, but I guess this RCB franchise is cursed, irrespective of whether it is the men's team or the women's.

The problem is that Royal Challengers Bangalore women's team members and management never focuses on their game and instead they concentrate on things outside cricket field. What was the point in appointing Sania Mirza as the mentor to this team? If you want, you can ask ex-cricket players such as Rahul Dravid and Stuart Binny to become the mentors to the women's team. But what is the point in asking a tennis player to become the mentor of a women's cricket team? These are the reasons why RCB has become a cursed team.

But in women's cricket, 140-150 maybe considered as a good total after 20 overs. Delhi Capitals Women scored 131/9, which was perhaps 20 runs short. But even then, Mumbai took 19.3 overs to reach their target, thanks to some very precise bowling from Marizanne Kapp, Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey. And also, Harmanpreet Kaur wasted a lot of balls and was batting like a tortoise.

Harmanpreet Kaur actually put her own team in trouble. By the time she got out, 36 runs were needed from 3.5 overs. It was left to Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt to score the winning runs at more than 9 runs per over. But we can say that she helped in re-building the innings after Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews got out. Anyway, in the end Mumbai Indians won the match and therefore no one is going to complain about it. And Harmanpreet Kaur becomes the first captain to win the WPL. Hard luck for Delhi Capitals Women. Yes, Mumbai Indians are the only team that is predicted and expected to be able to win the WPL because the playing performance and skills of the Mumbai Indians players have advantages over other teams and they are even able to give satisfactory results to reach the final and win the WPL.
I don't follow much women's cricket matches but I still keep an eye out occasionally to get some information if someday I want to bet on women's cricket.
The last WPL yesterday was a great achievement for Mumbai India and was her biggest win in so many women's cricket tournaments.

Meg Lanning and Marizanne Kapp did what they could do. BTW, the most significant contribution came from Shikha Pandey, who made 27 from 17 balls. In the end, the total Delhi Capitals Women made (131/9) was at least 20 runs short. And I have no idea why they struggled so much against the Right arm Offbreak bowling of Hayley Matthews. For heaven's sake she is a part time bowler, and in this match she had unbelievable figures of 4-2-5-3. Delhi Capitals Women could score at 10 runs per over against Issy Wong, but not against Hayley Matthews? Strange.

Bangladesh women's team is on a tour to Sri Lanka playing 3 ODI & 3 T20 Matches. The first ODI ended without result as rain abandoned the match. Sri Lanka Women team started the innings and scored 152/6(36.4 overs). Rain interrupted and the match came to an end. Tomorrow the second ODI gonna be played and these matches are really important for the teams to improve their performance. More women's team are getting into cricket and we were able to see good list of women's cricket being played everyday apart from the top teams.

A new record has been set by Thailand women's team. They are participating in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, and yesterday there was a match between Philippines women and Thailand women. Philippines got bowled out for just 9 runs. Jennifer Alumbro top scored with 2 runs, while Thipatcha Putthawong of Thailand took 4 wickets. Thailand women chased down the total in 0.4 overs. Myanmar and Malaysia are the other two teams in Group A, while Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia are participating in Group B.

I have to say, I never watched any women's cricket before the Women's World Cup in South Africa ....but after seeing the quality of the cricket that were delivered in the Women's World Cup.. I changed my mind.

I am glad to see other tournaments branching out to women's cricket now, but unfortunately participation in my country are relatively low, so they are struggling to get enough women to hosts local tournaments.

Bangladesh Women's team have played the second ODI against Sri Lanka women's team. The match overs were reduced to 30 overs. Sri Lanka won the toss and chosen to bat first. In the 30 overs, Sri Lanka have scored 186/5 runs. Sri Lanka women's team had strong opening. Atapattu and Madavi played good and Bangladesh Women isn't strong enough to chase the target and ended the innings losing every wicket for 128 runs. Ranasinghe had five wicket haul and the team leads the ODI series 2-1.

The ODI series is completed now, and the T20I series will start from next Tuesday. Out of the three ODIs, two were washed out and Sri Lanka managed to win the final match, thereby winning the series 1-0 (even the last match was shortened by rain, to 30 overs per innings). I don't understand the logic in scheduling these matches, when the monsoon season has started in Sri Lanka. It is raining quite heavily all over South Asia, and therefore I am not very hopeful about the T20I series as well. Just hoping that there will be minimal rain interruption.
