A person who is desperately in need of money can do anything to get money. Gambling is a shortcut to money and many fall for this trap.
So people who are desperately in need of money will easily get addicted to gambling.

What I know, people who really need money urgently are more likely to choose borrowing money, not gambling. Everyone knows that it requires money to gamble, it is not for free. And most people know that gambling isn't an instant way to earn money, it is because we more often get losses than won the games. It is a rare case that people can be rich instantly because of playing gambling. So, I don't think that people become addicted because they really need money.

Gambling addiction shouldn't be blamed on the person who introduced gambling because it's a personal choice. Anyone can listen to gambling introductions but it is our personal perspective whether to gamble responsibly or fall for gambling addiction. If we are influenced by gamblers, it doesn't mean that we have to be compulsive gamblers. We still have a choice to control ourselves and have the proper mindset toward it.

I can a bit agree with you. Someone gets an addiction because of his bad habit of gambling. The bad habit isn't caused by the person who introduced the gambling but it is caused by himself. Sure, to prevent addiction, we must be disciplined and have good self-control. That's why someone who can't control himself well, is better to avoid gambling.

I wouldn't want to be blame for turning anyone into a gambling addict because its really hard to come out of the act once you have fully involved yourself. in my country months ago a gaming company appeared, managed to obtain a license and started operating, they paid many famous influencers in my country to publicize their games of chance, people of course are curious and nobody wants to miss the chance to win a lot of money fast they started to play a lot and when I say " they started to play a lot " I'm not exaggerating, people only thought about earning a lot of money fast that greed completely blinded them that they didn't even think about the high number of losses they were having, the situation went on for many months and today there was news in my country's newspaper about the losses of people who are in these games

I think inviting our friends to play gambling without knowing who they are is too risky. That's because gambling can provoke him to spend more money than we imagine. I don't have a source that has been the subject of research on this subject, but I do have a personal observation. The official organizers of horse racing and sports betting in my country have cafe style businesses. Every time I go in there I see older people of retirement age inside. I think people who don't have a job but have a pension are more likely to do this kind of work to earn more money. I don't blame them. the same as me, even though I like gambling, I have never tried to persuade other people to follow my habits because the future effects for them are quite dangerous and if they are people who have poor self-control, they will enter the abyss of addiction. especially for people who are married and have a family, what I'm afraid of is that they will destroy their family and become addicts (like the story I once made as a topic in this thread)

I certainly haven't tried inviting one to a gambling den/casino, but I have done some simple friendly bets with my friends. All in all it wasn't a bad influence, even with money involved but that's because there was a factor of fun involved. I highly doubt things would be the same if it wasn't fun, so really, unless they really enjoy gambling or something similar to it, I wouldn't introduce them to casinos.

One question, how is that your friend doing now. Have you checked on him because you might think your bet did nothing to influence him but there has been stories of people turning addictive because of few friendly bets they had and won. To me this is the most important part where I would be very careful when telling someone about gambling. In case you have struggled in the past with another addiction like alcohol or cigarettes than the chances are much higher that you become addicted to gambling as well. When I was younger I was playing video games all day long on the weekends and evenings, up until the point where my parents send me to a doctor that told me I was addicted to gaming. It took quite a long time to get back to some normal gaming activities again. Even today I need to be careful not to fall back into my old habits. That is why I keep a close eye on my gambling time each week and make sure that I have fixed limits on how much money I can use for gambling each month. Without such strict control I am afraid I could also become addicted to gambling. For example my cousin has struggled with a drug addiction in the past and even today is a heavy smoker and can't quit. I would never take him with me when I go visit a casino with friends, or show him how I play online at a casino from home. For some people the risk is too big and I don't want to feel guilty for introducing him to it.

I have a friend which I just talked to recently, I may not be the one which introduced gambling to him but as a friend, I do believe I have the responsibility to offer my suggestions to him especially now that I saw how bad it looks when you are addicted to gambling.
He is playing slots on his smartphone, which we all know is a game that can be played nonstop. He kept asking me for online money and then he pays in cash. Not a loan, he just doesn't have any balance in his online money. Then, he started playing for 3 nonstop hours without even talking to me.

He may fall to those competitive types of gamblers. They won't stop unless they felt that they won against the house which I know is impossible.
Two of us already discussed with him the worst possibilities if he continuously does it but I felt like it's not sinking in his brain. He keeps on telling us he is winning but would not able to present how much he gambled.

Most of the time that is happening there since the referral fees is what can influence other to think about sharing their links to anyone. Maybe they will not think about the consequences of what they do at early stage because all they want is to earn money, but later on once their friends or relatives got addicted for sure they might bothered by their conscience about the actions they do towards people near them.

Plenty of poor clever people exist.   A lack of variety or experience in large gains would make the gambling larger then life so be more disruptive perhaps.   A rich person in theory is gambling a lower percentage of their net worth, a greater amount of wealth is not liquid so cannot be gambled perhaps.   The poorer parts of an economy or population tend to have far higher worth in purely cash positions, weekly wages etc. so in that sense more harm is possible.   Poor people also suffer most from inflation for example.
