Well despite whatever merit activities that you have noticed in the forum, merit selling or trading is not encouraged on the platform. You have to be dedicated and learn about the forum and its features including the different boards. There are boards that you can post in and likely get one or two merits that will encourage you because those boards have members who are merit source and are able to send merits out in different ways. You could simply have asked the person who introduced you to the forum this question. I’ve been a member of this for over a year and have seen a lot of posts from newbies concerning merits, this one, however, is something I have never seen before. It’s funny because I was just discussing with kingsden the other day about the dangers of trading merits. I think it has been established that merit trading is not good for the forum as it abuses the merit system for selfish reasons.

So my question to you is, would you be willing to buy merits? If no, then you probably shouldn’t be making this thread in the first place. You are new here and your first observation is a merit circle, tbh I believe this is a alt account and it will soon be making a case against someone in reputation.

Well, just as Theymos has said that he's not going to lose sleep over people who go to the extent of buying merit and standing the chance of getting a red tage, at least that will serve them better. Also, they are going to spend a lot to buy one merit, while they can just work hard toward creating a good topic and get the merit for free. Smerit can be sold by some people in the forum because the forum doesn't have control over the process, but if it is found out, your account will get a bad truth level. So, just do well to create good topics and earn merit freely; do not have the feeling of buying merit; that's the wrong impression you are having.

You shouldn't be asking members of the forum this question if truly your claim about seeing your friend trade merit with someone else is true. Go and find the answer from your friend then post your evidence here so that  every one will believe you. Merit is neither bought nor sold rather you receive merit when you solve a particular problem through your contribution or when you give information leading to solutions in a particular thread or in some one's contribution.You can also be merited by members when you do a charitable donations leading to promotion of Bitcoin either in the forum here or your locality hence there are evidence backing it up.

Anyone that engages in merit buying isn’t just going against the forum rules but actually it’s common sense to know you should not buy what you are meant to earn organically. Firstly how much would someone value one merit? And for how long would you be able to consistently keep buying merit.

The negative impact with buying merit isn’t only going to be faced by those engaging in it but also we would he having individuals here at a rank there aren’t meant to be which would in turn affect the competence of the forum.

Everyone here has already cleared you quite well and I think its rather absurd for a new account like yours to be all about a merit selling allegation on someone who introduced you to the forum and if such person is doing so I would probably advice you not to follow in his footsteps because he or she will definitely not grow in acquiring knowledge because the whole aspect of the merit system is to earn a good rank and reputation by probably working your ass for it by posting quality post and if he or she hasn't been doing so then even the bought merits wouldn't be of any good to him/her. So my advice to you is to just put more effort in the forum by reading more if actually you want to gain knowledge about bitcoin and grow in merit because merits come with hard work as you can't cheat the system.

The merit system is not moderated directly by the forum, but it is highly recommended to give Merit to high-quality posts, not posts that you like for any reason, including selling merit.

Merit shouldn't be traded, and it's something that's forbidden so the community won't appreciate the abuse. But if the OP wants to earn merit, then of course he needs to learn how merit are earned. This quote might help because it is one of the facts about the merit system.

You get merit points when someone likes your post enough to give you some. And for every 2 merit points you receive, you can send 1 merit point to someone else!

The main point is about quality, and it will get other users interested in helping you with merit. The way the merit system works is easy, but what complicates it is the mindset of each user.

I didn’t see anywhere the Op said he wants to buy merit, he didn’t say he is having intention to buy or sell merit. But if they send you any profile link for proof, don’t report the account here, they are smart so they won’t send the profile of the main account they are trying to sell until they know you are serious or after making payment.

Nobody thinks this sounds good or makes sense. Merit is awarded to you after making a valuable contribution to the forum; it is offered as a token of appreciation by the user and serves no other purpose. Then, how will you purchase yourself respect after offering something to the community? It makes no sense to anyone, even a layman.

If you've done something outstanding that you believe deserves recognition, let others appreciate it instead of begging or purchasing it for yourself.

Almost like taking oneself out to a nice fancy place where anything can be bought. Of course it is possible, if you know someone or have contact of someone who wants to buy or sell, but the thought of it makes bitcoiners and others who seem to have more or less merit, want to hoard their merits for reasonable post and hike prices for those that may want to buy more merits or demands for trade. This is not how It was designed to be used.
It is supposed to be like points for good or great posts and to help push old members up the rank where possible.
It is not permitted to sell your merits. It is an offence here.

If merits are awarded for great posts, it should be obvious to us that selling or trading merits is not permitted in the forum. Op, engaging in such behavior in a forum is discouraged.You must add something worthwhile to the forum in order to gain merit here.

Op, if selling of Merit and trading merits are possible here, I think you will hardly see many members with much activities and with few merits.in  fact many members who are looking for spot in some signature campaigns and lack 120 days will not be there,if selling of merits is permitted. Op just know that many members that give many merits a post are merit source and if you check well those posts deserved it. Op if you are not receiving merit does not mean that others members who are receiving it are buying it or trading it,you will also receive if you can produce quality post.

Buying merit will only harm yourself and damage the reputation of the account on the forum anyway selling/buying merit is not recommended on the forum. Instead, focus on producing quality posts that make a positive contribution to the forum.

No. It's not permitted. Nothing good comes easy else there'd be no need to make research in order to make quality posts. This question looks like you are buying the tweaks to a difficult game and before you know it, you have lost interest. Same goes here. Making constructive posts would give you the desired results (merits).

Of course, it isn't. But I don't think there is a heavy punishment for that like a permanent ban unless perhaps if it's done over and over again and brazenly. Although it's possible, I'm not sure if there are indeed merit sellers or buyers here. What I noticed in the past is that there are a lot of merit beggars, merit hunters, and those who solicit merits from outside the forum like on Telegram and Discord channels. And it seems there are also users here who are scratching each other's back.

There's a difference between merit selling and selling forum accounts. You can't know how genuine the user want to sell his account if he's not dare to PM you in this forum.

I think Solosanz's jocular tone is clear, and that there has been a misunderstanding on Issa56's part. In other words, I think it's better not to get bogged down in an argument over something that starts with a joke, let alone tag someone and end up in drama. Although in this case, the tag would have little to go on, and little justification.

Regarding the OP, I think it has been made clear to him. Just follow the rules and don't cheat, as many people regret it when they get caught because they had bought the account, or merit, and find themselves with an unusable account after being tagged.

Selling/buying merit is not allowed in the forum, whatever the purpose, one is not allowed to do it. It's very stupid for someone who is willing to buy merit just to Rank Up, if it's proven that you did DT will stab you in red ink which will damage your account. Try to think positively, how much money do you have to spend to buy Merit, if you can get Merit from quality posts, why don't you do it?
Increase your knowledge in the forum, every quality post will be appreciated by Merit Source and generous users in the forum. You can also choose several posts that are considered quality to be submitted in the Thread [Merit] Share your best posts/threads with Fillippone to be merit assessed.
