I'm asking out of curiosity, are you guys experiencing a surge of gambling ads on youtube videos lately? this past week I've experienced an increased encounter of gambling ads on videos I watch on youtube. it's not that it bothers me, I am just surprised because I don't remember getting this many gambling ads on youtube videos in the past, but this past week, I usually get a gambling ad from 2-3 out of 5 videos I watch(it's just an estimation because of how often I get the ads). I don't know if it is because I recently watched several videos of streamers gambling or it's just a coincidence, I've watched streamers gambling videos in the past but I have never gotten this many gambling ads.

If i'm not mistaken, ever since Youtube uplifted its ban on gambling ads, that's how whenever you are watching any of these kinds of videos (i.e gambling related, investment related or how to make money related videos), you will always come across those ads, of which I think maybe this period you might have been watching more of either of those 3 kinds of videos often for you to have been shown more of gambling ads, which I have also noticed about Facebook recently displaying gambling and the very ads I noticed the most is "Coin master".

Are you kidding me or am I missing something??? I never knew that YouTube blocked gambling ads, neither did I know that Facebook do the same thing. This is because I always receive gambling and trading ads on my YouTube page, which might be because I gamble and trade often on my phone.

Yes, it's true YouTube did actually banned all ads related to gambling (both online & offline), and that was in June 2021 (i.e 2yrs ago) for a period of some months before later uplifting such ban base on reasons best known to them, because how I got to know about this info is simply because that was the period I started my YouTube channel growth and I was always updated on all it's policies that period unlike now that I hardly visit YouTube.

You are right, though not gambling related, I remember that in several occasions, I've search for something on Aliexpress for example, an Item I wish to buy, only to return later to YouTube, facebook and start seeing ads on that particular product I searched for..

This is also the same thing that happens with gambing as well, some times, I try to find out some things happening in the gambling world, so I head to Google and type the keyword "latest gambling updates, news", and later during that day, I return to YouTube to start watching gambling related ads in-between videos, I must confess its really annoying most times, but that is simply the internet, nothing much can really be done.

I use a Android smartphone and a desktop PC, I have noticed that what we look for using google search engine will impact how our phones react in giving out information, news and advertisements, it's like those gadgets are build in a way that they know their users better than anyone, once I look into Chelsea football club, my prebuilt news app will always give me updates about Chelsea football club and important information going on with the football club.

That's how invasive all these social media platforms and search engines have become, they use us to run their businesses and our privacy is not of their concern at all because we give them the right to do whatever they want with us because we always agree with their terms and conditions and agree with them at the time of registration.

Ad blockers do not work on mobile devices unless you use a browser such as Brave and others. Yes, a premium subscription would stop any advertisement but why do you need it? As I have said earlier it's your behavior with Google that determines those advertisements. Another way to stop those advertisements is to log out of Youtube and log in with new credentials. If not then you need to follow what I have said earlier.

I guess what you meant is to log-out your Gmail account, and long in a different one, right? Because you need to understand that it's the Gmail is the same as a "Google account" and a "Youtube channel", which all works together as one. And instead of doing that, I have an easier way to stop such targeted ads from displaying on your device (i.e both mobile & desktop) and that has to do with clearing the cache of your mobile device which contains the history of all the information you may have search before about on the forum.

And that can be done by just going the the "Settings" option of your smartphone, select "Apps & management" and then select your YouTube app and clear the cache.

We do have a choice and that's a lot of option to make if we want to get rid of these ads whether they're gambling related or not. This is how these companies are tracking us and throwing us the ad that's for us.

Yeah, it may not protect you wholly but at least that's the least that one can do. Those that don't want to download ad blockers or don't like to change their browsers, they can rely to incognito to at least not track what they're searching for and it won't be saved.

I don't think logging out will work if the user keeps on watching gambling-related streams and videos. Still, either logged in or logged out, Youtube will still follow its own system to let that user be exposed to some gambling-platforms related advertisements and stuff.

You can check it for yourself, don't log any accounts on the Youtube platform, and see the video recommendations while browsing for quite some time. That will also be applied to what advertisement/s should be shown while the said user is currently streaming on the platform.

Although honestly, I will admit I've never seen a gambling-related advertisement yet even once here in our region.

Maybe not just depending on user activities but also on the number of available gambling ads in the region as obviously, gambling ads that were based from other countries won't be supposed to be shown to other countries.

Yeah, personally, I've been using an ad blocker which seems to work really fine on my laptop before the laptop broke down, but then such facility is not available on mobile devices, most especially those who rarely visit sites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and so on through a web Browser, but essentially depend on their native mobile applications to access those platforms, like myself, I only use a browser to access sites without application, if the site have an app on the app store, I always find it much more convenient to use the app.

I'm not.  I actually don't recall ever seeing a gambling ad on youtube.  Maybe it is a result of your location?  Here in the United States, maybe online gambling isn't quite as accepted as in other places so maybe they don't allow gambling ads for those in this jurisdiction yet?  The ads I get are typically for large companies or small content creators trying to grow their audience.  I am curious if you are outside the US and where exactly you are that you are being fed these types of advertisements.  It also could be the result of you actually using online gambling platforms from your current location.  I tend to take gambling trips when I engage in this behavior so maybe I'm just not identified by youtube as a gambler.

I think this ads are force down on peoples throat, they want to make money but not at the expense of personalizing users data but I don't blame them because we live in a society where we don't care about our privacy, I believe Google and YouTube have thousands of users data in tbe sense that if they wish to cause chaoss, it will take them a minute to get it started and the word would easily enter another world war.

Well, I see it more often now compared to before, but it's a common thing to happen. Gambling sites are just ramping up their business to help gain more customers, because that's always the purpose of it, to attract new ande more customers with those ads, and this is not just common on YouTube videos; it's also both on Facebook, although I have not really been so active on Twitter to know if it extend to there too. In todays era on which no matter how you do mind yourself on trying out to avoid those gathering information out of these companies or whatsoever but there are really moments which we can inevitably comply or expose about identity or something that talks about in correlation to that on which having no choice but to dealt up with it. Hey guy, gambling ads are like virus appearing to any YouTube videos watched in my device. They are sometimes they even installed themselves in the phone and once I noticed that they have been installed in the phone I would just uninstalled them in the phone. They are really disturbing me whenever I login into YouTube and other site to watch and download movies. The most common ads that were disturbing were 1xbit and 1xbet. These two ads were like demon to me. But is like this days they are not disturbing like that again.

There are some available browsers that can be used in a mobile to avoid these ads if you don't want them. Just as suggested by the others about these browsers like Brave, you're free to download it or just download another ad blocker that you do trust.
So, whether you use desktop or mobile, you'll be avoiding these ads because they're really annoying when they pop everywhere and use browsers that don't keep your cookies or niches because they give you the ads that's based on your browsing history.

Yeah, I would agree about the surge. But I see more gambling ads everywhere and anywhere. Not only just Youtube. I guess we are just going to have to find a way to live in this world filled with tracking advertisements and data collection by AI means. I do not think that there is anything we can do against it, as long as we live in a free market. You should try using anti-ad apps like uBlock Origin. Also you can use a search engine that does not collect data from you (Google does it). You can also use a VPN, which will is not a method to fight against ads but rather you will not be psychologically profiled and targeted. You will probably only see random ads with a VPN. As long as you are careful with your data.
