Chelsea have not been consistent this season, there are some positions which they still have to improve. They won their first match after  the international break, and I hope they going to continue like this till the season is going to end. Chelsea performance is improving gradually, their performance this season is better than how they performed last season, so even if Chelsea can’t win the premier league, which I know Chelsea won’t be able to win, but Alonso should try and qualify for the champions league. With the way Chelsea are  not so consistent this season, we should stop thinking about them winning the premier league title.

Newcastle United return home after suffering a heavy defeat away to Coventry,while we were expecting Newcastle to turn the game around they ended up losing 4-1.
After Newcastle made it 2-1, people thought they would score at least one more goal and pick up a point but they conceded two more goals before the final whistle, Newcastle were the better side but Coventry were the ones who won.
This is a disastrous defeat ahead of the Aston Villa match.

Yes Newcastle did the playing while Coventry did the winning, what exactly do you guys expect from a team which has sold most of their star players, I wasn't expecting more from them anyways, but the humiliation was quite huge it was really out of the picture, like what is actually wrong with Newcastle United and Aston Villa this season, they were all on fire last season, but looking at their performance this season, you will keep wondering how they managed to end where they ended last season, but let's watch how the season go for now.

Probably you were referring to Aston villa alone because Newcastle didn't even finish in the top ten last season to have done well last season as you have said. Tottenham finished 17 while Newcastle finished in position 12 with only eight points difference between them. From this, Newcastle did not do well last season maybe it was the previous seasons. Aston villa sold few of the big names in the club that's why they are struggling like this, the coach is managing what he has to get the few good results his getting at the moment. For Newcastle, they were not in the picture of teams that performed well.

Exactly, the main aim for Chelsea this season is to have a very much understanding team by the end of the season and get a champions league football also for next season. So far after 6 games in they league, they have been able to pick 10 points, they also have the best attack in the league. The only problem chelsea is facing right now is  to tidy up their defense.

I think what Alonso is currently building is a very good project, if they can give Alonso a season after this then I think they will be to challenge for the premier league title. With them playing just one game a week, I think it will really help them so much this season.

Well, as you can see alonso is still trying to build the team to the best standard so don't be surprised to see them underperforming in their upcoming match. But from my observation I think alonso is doing a nice job I can clearly say that chelsea is gradually regaining/ coming back to their best form because this was not actually how they performed last season, so I believe with time alonso would bring back that chelsea we used to know some seasons ago.

However a good coach is always seen from the beginning and alonso showed that he's a good coach because he started the season in a good way not  with loss.

Of course there will always be that talks, years before now it was Chelsea and Manchester United dominating the premier league. Arsenal, Manchester city and Liverpool all with the hope of winning the league, so every fan base have that right to dream and say they will win the league. Just because they are not doing well at the moment can’t take away that dream to win the league. For me Chelsea look different this season, everybody know that they have the best attack in the league right now, if the defense can stabilize itself then they will be in title winning conversation.

Every team amongst the big six can be in a title winning conversation before the league commence, so saying it always like that every year, It normal and it will always be like that. Every teams needs time to build a winning team, it took Arteta almost a decade to get his first premier league title with Arsenal.

I see that victory as a trap because as we all know Bournemouth are not in a very good shape this season, which is the reason why they have not even win a match. I will be the one to blame Chelsea if they could not even win or score to the level they did, because of the current performance of their opponents.

Honestly we can compare Chelsea alongside Manchester City and Arsenal, because before the season started i was putting them in the same cycle, simply because each of them have not recorded any point and all of them are starting, but unfortunately Chelsea could not be able to hold the position and that was why they are still in this stage, their last match is not something i should be happy or to be convinced that they are getting back, let's wait patiently and see how their performance appears in the nearest future.

How do you guys normally identify a well performing team? I agree Chelsea has improved a little bit compared to last season but I can not say they're playing well. There's a difference between a team that luckily win games and a team that plays well. Chelsea falls in the former category and not the latter. Moreover, their 5-1 win against Bournemouth is commendable but we should not forget that Bournemouth is 18th on the table so we basically can not use that to judge how well they play. On average, Chelsea have conceded 2+ goals per game which means they need to score 3+ goals to win their games. That's not something I would consider great for a team like Chelsea.

I also don't think Chelsea has any real chance of winning the title. Frankly, with Arsenal and Manchester City in the mix, Chelsea's chances aren't very high besides, they have already dropped a lot of points. Manchester City are on an unbeaten run and Arsenal with just 1 loss are clearly the two teams closer to the title. I believe Manchester City's chances of winning the championship have increased following their recent match against Liverpool, as the team appears united and determined to secure the title. Chelsea might well end up being a team that only competes in the Champions League this season.

Very terrible result from Newcastle. I really wonder what their fans are going through. From being a very promising time after they got the new owners to being an inconsistent midtable team, which is currently seated in the 11th postion. I don't think there is much hope for them this season as well

it also feels like they are so much into bang average players instead of spending the money to buy stars who can stir up the season for them.

Really a bad loss for them they got destroyed by Coventry that is a team that will surely fight to survive. I dont know how they didnt invest into their team. They sold all their best players and didnt get any good ones and i think with this team they will either be in the middle or fight to stay in the league. The fans are surely mad at the owners because they didnt do anything since they came to the club.

Since they lost 4–1 to newly promoted team Coventry, there are more questions that have been raised. Newcastle even lost important players like Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. But that is not the point of them not investing. Newcastle have signed a total of 8 senior players this season. Among them are Nico Gonzalez, Amar Dedic, Bazoumana Toure and some other players. I think their main problem is not being able to create the same quality with the new players after such a big squad change, rather than investing.

Chelsea scoring 5 goals against Bournemouth was very much expected. I don't think this suggests they have improved because Bournemouth are currently struggling and haven't won a single match this season. It's an advantage for them adding to the fact it was a home game for them. Their next game should be against Spurs who are also struggling so they should accumulate as much points and GF as they can because stronger teams awaits ahead.

Chelsea was extraordinary against Bournemouth, they didn't only score goals, the defence worked well compared to their previous games, although they still conceded a goal which shows that the defence still needs to improve. The fact that Chelsea had a slow start this season doesn't mean they can't win the EPL.

No doubt they really put up an amazing performance on their last match, but that's not enough reason for me to start rating them now, I will wait till they play at least 3 to 4 games, if they should keep to this performance then I can start to rate them, because I can't just use one good game to rate a team I knew too well that they are not consistence, if the should play this well in the next few games then I can assure they will end in a better position this season, because the last time I checked they are as bad as Manchester United, take it or leave it.

Looking at Chelsea schedule not having European competitions will be an advantage for them to keep playing consistently, so they can compete for trophies this season. Besides Xabi once said that he would apply a different strategy for each match. So this is probably what Xabi is doing maybe because his goal is to not be read by other coaches' analysis.

If we look at Alonso strategy it seems like he is indeed applying a fast paced approach at the start of matches. In fact, in 5 out of 8 games this season, Chelsea has always scored within the first 10 minutes. With this system, playing aggressive pressing upfront really makes the opposing players nervous and prone to mistakes, plus they can get punished by Chelsea front three now. In other words maybe Alonso really instructs aggressive pressing right from kickoff, before the opponent gets comfortable.

Chelsea next match is against Everton which is one of the toughest clubs defensively this season. This will be a tough test for Alonso to be able to score early.

Yeah, they’re getting back into form and it’s good to see Xabi Alonso winning games, he and Chelsea only need to maintain their tempo and remain consistent in their run of games.
He has the players to do enough damage and to challenge for the league title. Joao Pedro is on fire, Cole Palmer is gradually getting back to his old self. They have the bull ‘Moises Caicedo’ back in action, their defense may be shaky but if they get a good attack and compact defense they’ll be okay.

Compared to his status when he took over as interim manager last season, this is a very poor performance. Carrick sold United fans the hope of doing better the previous season, many of them who said he would've won them trophies he started as a full time manager would be so disappointed for believing in him so much to the point of saying that.

While people blame the board, which is fair cause they play a role in the current situation of them team, i blame Carrick for switching from counter attacking strategy to a possession based game with player that are not physically/mentally fit. It's not working and i wonder why it's taking him too long to figure out and switch back to what he used last season.
