I guess this collection of bribe before allowing a new player to showcase his talent for his country is always practice in Africa because Africa is so corrupt in everything that they do. A quality player will want to be part of his national team to bring victory for his country, instead the coach of will demand for money because he is not a good coach and he is after money and not for the betterment of his team. I wouldn't doubt this story,it is only the European countries and most countries that loves football that opens the door for all players to come in to showcase their talent for their country.

This kind of practice is very unfortunate. I mean, given the circumstances surrounding Africa, no wonder that majority of the system aim to take advantage of the situation in order to gain more in the process. These kinds of bribes destroy the reputation of football due to these corrupt practices. I just hope that the government would intervene in order to prevent this from happening again.

I remember in the Philippines, there was a basketball game which was televised and hosted but the teams were bribed as they fixed the match. It was subsequently investigated but I do think that only a few were held liable and accountable. I guess that these kinds of practices do happen especially when you are tough financially, though such is not an excuse.

Hey guys, reading little story on Kylian Mbappe who on Thursday visited Cameroon on a charity with the deaf and other familiarization visit to his father's home town. He spoke with Joseph Dion Ngute, the Cameroon's Prime Minister, he was honoured visiting and I believe this is just like the humanitarian work some influential people do

But one striking revelation was that he would have been a cameroonian player if they weren't asking his father to pay them money before allowing him to play while he still trying to fix his career and French allowed him without payment.

Quote
"At first, I wanted my son to play for Cameroon, but someone at the Cameroonian Football Federation charged me money that I didn't have to make him play," he explained. " The French charged nothing."

I have also heard of some local stories about how some coaches require money from new footballers before they allow them on trier both in their clubs and national teams. Is this happening globally for new players who are still seeking to find a spot in clubs?

Do you think Cameroun miss Mbappe or it is Mbappe that missed Cameroun ?

https://theafricanhistory.com/2975#:~:text=My%20father

That is how you lose on a great player like Mbappe when you are a corrupted country like Cameroon and many other African countries lose such star players exactly because of the same reason. Also in many other third countries in the world the same is happening and I think these type of interviews should have much wider visibility so those people who asked for money would be seeing how big these players become and stop doing it.I know that it is much more difficult to achieve because we are talking about poor countries but these poor countries should start to think bigger for themselves. It would be nice to see such a player playing for Cameroon, not that I don't like seeing him play with France.

It's saddening that a team just lost a good additional player on their side just because of money. But actually, this isn't really a new thing. Corruption can happen even in sports. As a matter of fact, it can happen in any industry as long as there are existing people who are just in it for the money. For me, it's Cameroun's loss and not Mbappe since the latter can potentially make a significant impact to the performance and record of the team if he were accepted without anything in return.

Let's just hope that this kind of routine will be put into halt because it's such a waste to lose great talent and skills just because someone wants to trade it for money and not really care about what will be its benefits to the country's pride and improvement in sports.

There will be no bribery if the official won't accept bribes. But unfortunately, some are accepting such bribe because of greed.

The giver and taker of bribe is guilty of the offence. I think the laws should be implemented because that it is people will fear. When laws are implemented to the full, people's greed will reduce because when you remember how many years that you will stay in jail then to commit the crime will be discouraged. I believe every person has the greed tendency but either fear of shame when caught depending or the family background (that is ability to have self control) or the fear of punishment that will scare people from such.

Happens all the time I think. You see there are foreign athletes giving honor to countries where they reside because their own country didn't support them. Take for instance a pro boxer from Mexico yet fights for Cali. Or a Nigerian fighter fighting out of Denver.

Its a waste however Kylian Mbappe becomes famous and have more influence in other country. Opportunity is deprived to the Cameroon by the Cameroonian Football Federation itself.

This should need a fast action, they need to take this as serious case, it is need to have an integrity in every sports if they will allow this one many new cases will start to show and it will become normalized , this is a bad thing. Bribery is a crime , they could be put in a jail or they will need to pay for fine but for me they should immediately kick or terminated the contract of the player or the whole team if they have complete proof.

I thought maybe some fake representative is trying to scam them but doesn't seem to be the case. I cannot find any article where officials from the Cameroon Football Federation denying the allegations so it's probably true.
Cameroonian football officials will never accept that they asked for a bribe. It is not also a scam because it is common in Africa. Most of these sports administrators are so corrupt that they don't care about talent because they are there for their pockets. Even coaches ask for bribes before some players can play for the national team. Anthony Joshua the British heavyweight champion boxer was to represent Nigeria in the Olympics but the corrupt officials asked for some form of monetary inducement which refused to give. He went ahead to represent England and today he is bringing glory to his adopted country while Nigeria is wallowing in regrets.

Ironically, Cameroon national team lost one of the best players in the world because a greedy and corrupt agent (or a group of them) had a bribery scheme to recruit new players. Imagine how further they could reach on World Cups if they had Mbappé on the team, profiting much more and getting much more recognization than what they would have earned with the bribery... Corrupt people think they are smart, but they can only see things on short term. What really matters is what happens on long term, and that is something only God knows and sees. So better to walk straightest as possible in life, never creating obstacles for our fellow beings, rather trying to help them as possible.
He was even lucky to choose France because the same corruption is still killing the Cameroonian national team. When funds are disturbed for preparation and wages, some greedy officials will divert the money to private pockets. He wouldn't have achieved much if he had played for Cameroon. France gave him the right platform and enabling environment to succeed. This is why many African players prefer playing for well-organized national teams in Europe and America rather than playing for corruption-ridden African national teams.

Lol, This is nice. What you have asked , happens predominantly in African countries which is very corrupt to the core. And this is not the first time I have heard this kind of stories. They are so many talented footballers in Africa but their own countries refused them to play in the national teams because of bribery. In Nigeria rich people recommend their relatives to play in the national team while the skillful poor players play with monkey post games.  Mbappe did not miss Cameroon national football team but the fans of Mbappe in Cameroon miss him in the Country National Football Team. Those who were trying to collect bribe from the father did not miss him at all because theirs is not the skills but the money. In Africa we have loss a lot skillful players to the European countries.

Those who were trying to collect bribe from the father did not miss him at all because theirs is not the skills but the money.

They won't be sorry for their action because for them, it is not to select those who have passion for the game but those who are willing to bribe their way into the team. Those FA members who do this perhaps have been trading football spots to others and they will keep doing that till that. This is why some players get rejected for being over aged. Just recently, it is in the news that Samuel Eto (Cameroonian FA president) Mirror is requesting the proper age for his players and 21 out of 30 players were found to be overaged

This issue frequently occurs especially for African players. Africa has a lot of exceptional players who possess impressive physical abilities, and with proper training they have the potential to become stars. However, the problem lies in the fact that many African countries struggle to retain their players. This may be due to financial constraints or a lack of attention towards their talented players who are playing abroad.

It is truly sad that some African countries are unable to reclaim their star players. Like for example in France, we can observe a huge presence of African players in club teams, as well as in the national team.

Bribing among football players is widespread in Africa, where national football federations have a vested interest in the significant earnings of their compatriots playing in Europe. Given the numerous revelations in the past, it is not surprising that such occurrences continue to happen. The fundamental issue lies in how the country's leadership responds to such news.
Bribing has been the order of the day in football, especially in African sport. No major player would want to play for African teams since their wages and football facilities are not up to European standards. When looking at the France national squad, the number of black players outnumbers the proportion of white players. Cameron overlooked their own product, Kylian Mbappe, who is now a standout in Europe and the France national team. Although Cameron are facing the mistakes of their past, and they've learnt their lesson never to underestimate any player.
While we acknowledge the difficult situation faced by football associations in African countries, it is noticeable that many African players of French descent do not represent the African national teams. Mbappe's recent statement about potentially playing for Africa could be attributed to Osimhen, who has been in the media spotlight for a similar reason. Osimhen, like many other Nigerian players, has a strong connection and heritage in his home country.

I don't really know how this system  works but the truth is that the statement  from my mppabes father seems true and I've always know some parts of Africa to always prioritize bribing in almost everything  they do even to their educational sector hence this isn't no news to me because I'm not actually shocked if they must have asked  his father to pay for letting him play and i guess he wasn't know as at then and that's one of the things tbatvhave milled alot of great potentials as they might not have the required money and finance to sponsor  their talents.

I think this is mainly about corrupt people at football federations. This can't exactly be about all federations or all players. I suppose this sounds like a gamble for player's family because if he doesn't become better they would be wasting money. Anyways its obviously huge loss for nations if their officers do it. This is obvious bribery and bribery would make undeserving people getting shirt meanwhile good ones missing it.

What actually makes you think that the guy at the Cameroon Football Federation who asked Mbappe's father for money so that his son be able to play for the team wouldn't do it with someone else after learning about this? He probably doesn't give a shit about what has happened because he gets money from people so that they can play and personal gain is probably what he wants because if he really cared for his country, he wouldn't be doing that at all in the first place.

So, even if he rejects 10 footballers because they don't pay and all of them become successful after joining national teams of other countries, he wouldn't care much as his pocket is getting filled anyhow which is the basic purpose of him being a member of the respected football federation of the country.

Don't about such cases exist but if this activities really happen on your country then there's should be a player expose this so that this illegal actions may stop. Its easy to make this case viral and for sure those people involve on such corruptions will get fired if there top management know about their illegalities done to their team. To bad for players who can't pay their bribe because they can't play and show their full potential because of actions made by those corrupt people.

This is not rare at all and while it did not happen to me this happened to a friend of mine, he was really good at soccer back in our younger days and I really thought he had what it was needed to become a pro at some point, however when I asked him if he had any chance to go pro he told me he was asked for a huge sum of money in order to get the chance he needed, and since he did not had it then he never got a chance.

So it does not surprise me to read this has happened to many other people, what is surprising is that it happened to one of the players which could be considered to be the very best at the moment.
Even if let say your friend has that huge sum, I think there is still no guarantees that his career will last long and we are not sure if he will make it to the real pro scene as it looks like the club he was applying at is only just a scam. A legit club won't ever ask for money but they will only hire the players once they saw a potential from them and they still can make money once the team starts to play on higher tiers.

The pro players that are now known do also start small and there are also clubs which offer them that kind of deal so it wasn't shocking at all. They only ignore it and move on to the other legit clubs to successfully pursue their career.

That is how you lose on a great player like Mbappe when you are a corrupted country like Cameroon and many other African countries lose such star players exactly because of the same reason. Also in many other third countries in the world the same is happening and I think these type of interviews should have much wider visibility so those people who asked for money would be seeing how big these players become and stop doing it.I know that it is much more difficult to achieve because we are talking about poor countries but these poor countries should start to think bigger for themselves. It would be nice to see such a player playing for Cameroon, not that I don't like seeing him play with France.

But this shouldn't be so and the coach should be sacked immediately because he doesn't want the success of his country that is paying him well for him to do a good job but inside he is enriching himself and putting the country's national team in a low standard form. How will that coach bring out the best in these players when he doesn't know who is good or not. If this story is true,do you know how much Mbappe would have given to him currently that he is a superstar, far bigger than what he requested then.

Yeah this type of stories happen in third world countries and they lose valuable players who want to give all to the club or national team. The thread is bad. When you place money first in whatever you want to do then the best will elude you. This is appalling and the reason that third world countries struggle in football especially countries from Africa.

Those at the tops only care about their own immediate financial benefit and not care where the player gets to tomorrow with the myopic thinking that they have benefited from the player. I will still blame the government when it comes to corruption.
Simply put, they are not looking at the future profits of a player, those corrupted shitbags are just looking to be paid instantly and then they are gone looking for another victim. Although I am not sure if the father of Mbappe is telling the truth or if he was a victim of just another scammer in the shadows and not really part of their sports federation, this really happens in different countries especially the poor ones where crocodiles are waiting on the door with an open mouth looking for their next food for the day.

This is the reason why sports are not blooming in other countries, they don't have many heroes that can play internationally because of the lack of support from their government and also those kinds of experiences where there is already a wall before you could even go near the door to join a club.

Man, there are so many African countries where football is the main sport, imagine what could happen to them if football there was more honest.

See what Morocco did in Qatar. Was that luck? No!
That was talent and a lot of will to win.
If they had more preparation, if the country invested more in football, they could certainly have excelled in football earlier.

South Africa is another country that has football as its main sport, why don't we see it stand out?

Corruption in sports ends the dream of many players, this is unfortunate, but it is good to see that people are noticing this. Maybe it starts to change.

Voices are consistently increasing for the right thing to be done in Africa for sanity to be the driving force in anything that is worth doing. If the government will take away corruption away you will see more football talents shining like stars. Africa is very rich in gifted resources both human but to bring all in good purpose is the challenge. Cameroon has called herself out but almost all countries in Africa are in involved in this bribe mess.
