All the blames is on Elon Musk, Doge is just a meme coin when he shills it to the community, it creates a huge noise Dogecoin became the most talked about and the most hype of that period from then developers tried to imitate the success of Dogecoin, and they succeeded on some meme coins like Shiba Inu and Pepe coin, but I doubt these meme coins are created to last like all the top coins in the market.
Right now many investors are losing their money only the creators and developers of these meme coins are making money, The time will come when people will get enough of these meme coins, hopefully, it will come sooner, We need more innovative coins, not Memes.

Well, two reasons. First is hype. It’s literally called a meme coin which by its name it can already be assumed that there would be a lot of trolls who’d want to get in on it. Even if they weren’t exactly masters of cryptocurrency or altcoin, coins generated from memes or online communities will attract investors even if said investors didn’t knew what they were doing. They were probably just doing it for laughs and giggles. On the other hand, there would be investors who’ll think they’ve scored the next big project which of course most of the time isn’t the case. They won't go away since many investors are attracted to a coin which can give them a high returns in a short period and ignoring the risk of losing their money. Therefore, if there are investors willing to take risk in these coins, expect similar projects on the market to continuously exist.

Thus, if you'll invest in meme, make sure that you know the risk and you did your research on what to expect because there's no assurance to gain. The reason why it is advisable to choose a coin with real use case since it's less risky even you hold it for long term.

There is no technical perspective to invest in a meme coin but still, it has the capability of giving returns so everyone who invests in meme coins is taking a gamble that they are looking for the next dogecoin. I think Speculations of altcoins should be classified on its category, like bitcoin begot altcoin, altcoin begot shitcoin, shit Coin begot meme and fomocoin . When talking about altcoins there is no need of generalizing all. When talking about altcoins people usually don't spot the difference between them. Sometimes people use the word altcoin instead of shitcoin and meme Coin. I think shitcoin has a higher risk compeard to altcoins like USDT, BNB, ETHERIUM, SOL, ADA etc. Altcoins have more liquidity and has a long term market value than shitcoin

Elon Musk made shit coin look so amazing of all altcoins when he promoted a shit coin, that is what Dodge coin was referred to in its early stage. If you do not agree then do a Google search.
