In business, economy or money, manipulation is part of it. Manipulation is like the oil in the business I believe, because sometimes the market can only move with manipulation. It causes a spontaneous and unplanned decision either to invest hugely or to run out with your investment but whichever it goes the manipulator would have benefited. First of all, price of true Cryptocurrency like Bitcoin can't be manipulated or dishonestly controlled by anyone. The power to do so was taken away from those who could in the past. The current price movements of the market are true reflection of natural market forces. Meaning, only things that naturally contribute to price movements will effect the price. Not some forces somewhere selling thousands of coins just to push the price downward whereas the economic/market force, sentiment or general feeling is bullish.
By the way, you don't need to have loads of money to contribute to price increase or decrease. Just one positive/truthful word or two, or some useful/good organic contributions are enough to move price up. I do agree that if you see a lot of bad news about bitcoin and the price falling, that is exactly the moment to buy bitcoin. A lot of people forget that bitcoin is something that will benefit you on the long run and if you are not careful then it is going to be a lot different. I was talking about a hypothetical scenario (I called it hypothetical plans) and then said that where power is centralized, there is also a window of opportunity for fraud (or conspiracy as you call it). I think it’s fairly possible. However in case of Bitcoin it seems fairly impossible. The market is really big and whatever money is in the hands of individuals isn’t enough to move the market price. The money flows in billions of dollars everyday. People who think like that are naive. Most of the time advertisement can't be consider as market manipulation since I agree with you that people has choices and advertisement goal is to convince people to buy or use their products. But there are times that it can be a little bit manipulative like showing an advertisement that shows defamation to another obvious product company. It's illegal but advertisers can pass through it by doing indirect defamation to another company like branding as X and comparing. This is widely done before and the manipulation happen when people starts to avoid this Brand X that is showed to the advertisement.

The contents of the advertisement maybe fact but it's an evil thing to do when advertising. I've seen it done back then, rumors can start about that certain brand which positively affects the one who put up the advertisement given that they are the one who are on the good side of that advertisement.
