Food prices will increase inline with oil pretty much, that would be one of the easiest ways to tell inflation in pricing is likely to continue.  Also fertilizer is another price to follow for cost of production but as I understand it food prices are rising because cost to produce is rising.  Generally the world is demanding more refined foods and a greater amount of meat means more demand for food to feed live stock, enough factors for prices to rise over a decade and thats what I expect.

And here in my country work is being done to increase the excise duty for petroleum products! Of course, this will affect the prices of all products and services... Inflation is unstoppable for now, and many steps taken by the state are counterproductive. In the meantime, some chain stores and some companies are recording a growth of +150%... compared to last year, and a much higher growth compared to two years ago. While people still work for $2 per hour, min wage.

The same problem is what we are facing down here in Nigeria, after the removal of fuel subsidy, which led to the hike of petroleum product. The cost of food price has never been stable,it increases evey week and it has made every other commodities to increase in price. Inflation is really a big problem to my country economy and the new government doesn't have any strategy that they can use to combat the situation. The poor are suffering more and the middle class, because those that are working for the government salaries is depreciating and no increment from the government, enable them coupe with it.

Or simply which needs or everyday consumable and services or simply with the food you are putting on your table do keeps increasing but the salary that you do have in your job is really just that stabilize on which there's really no balance and if you do find yourself that relying into government actions then you would really be finding yourself later on on getting fucked up because you had been hoping that they will really be making up solutions into these problems. I do disagree into those points about blaming the government overall or they havent done something but we know that there are commodities which price cant really be that controlled specially if it would really be varying or basing up on market prices on which if it turns out to be the default price or value then government wont really be able to do such thing with those numbers. This is why i do really disagree sometimes on rants of people who do always pointing out on the government but we cant really be able to deny that controlling prices or having that kind of monitoring is really that part of their jobs or functions
knowing that there are certain areas which had been overlooked and been ignored which it did basically be the way that its getting abused on some common food prices which it should really be that be watched for the benefit of many.

It seems that in your country the conditions are much more worrying than in my country. I hope everything gets better soon. Although it is currently not visible to the naked eye in which direction the improvements will start. In my own country, currently the price of rice, which is the biggest staple food in this country, has again increased by more than around 5-10% in a month. Each region has different prices regarding the increase that occurs. But that's what happened in my area. This made everyone even more worried. And but the trigger for the increase in food prices in my country at the moment, apart from being triggered by the increase in fuel prices, is also influenced by the hot weather or the ongoing summer season.

The inflation that occurs has indeed disturbed the balance of people's income. Because the salary received does not follow the increase in market prices. So $10 dollars in the last month can get 10 specific products. But this month $10 dollars will only get you 8 specific products. That's the big picture. Fuel oil is indeed one of the main triggers for the increase. Because all of this is related to production and transportation costs.

After the Covid-19 outbreak, the economic crisis has increased in my country, namely Indonesia, until now economic inflation cannot be avoided, where the price of food needs has increased so sharply that it has had a huge impact on the lower middle class, even though the government has made recovery efforts.  through community welfare assistance programs, namely BLT and other social assistance, but this seems to be in vain because food needs are increasing while monthly income or wages do not support it at all because they do not increase, perhaps this is the main cause of inflation, for example food prices  such as eggs increasing from 45 thousand to 55-58 thousand per kilogram, not to mention rice from 18 thousand to 22-25 thousand per kilogram, and many other types of food also increased,
I also live in Indonesia, I know we are in the economic crisis since the pandemic happening. Yes, our government already made some efforts, but I don't think they made effective solutions. BLT is the example of a useless effort, it is just an instant money given by the government. Since the number of money is rather small, it sometimes only last few days. Even in certain cases, some people who got the BLT program spend all the money in a day. I think it is much better if the government provide the jobs for the people. When the people get regular jobs, they can get the money themselves. They can get the foods with their own efforts.

when I see BLT recipients they don't use it according to their needs, most of them actually use it for consumptive needs, and this clearly doesn't help much to reduce the suffering resulting from the economic crisis. I think that the government and society are not in sync in conveying their intentions, but currently society seems to be forced to be friendly with the increase in basic prices in particular, until now the concern is the increase in the price of rice which is our staple food, hopefully we will all always be given health so that we can work to fulfill our daily needs, because the long dry season has made many people sick at this time

This really made me sad and pissed at that time. If the business is striving, the business owner should also compensate their employees and not just say that it is already a minimum wage because right now it is not enough. I have also seen many new stores opening in my area which is a sign that many investors and business owners want to build their businesses but still the average salary needs to be higher.

We can't blame anyone for this situation we just do our best to find another extra income to cope with inflation. No matter how we mock the government and other people it will still be the same and we are just wasting our efforts, it is better to put that effort into action so that we don't starve.

You and I have very similar situations, almost exactly the same. But in my country there are no subsidies for fuel. Prices still rise almost every week due to inflation risks. You don’t even have time to hold money in your hands, since so much is spent on food. I even had to look for an additional source of income in order to somehow improve my financial situation. If things continue like this, I don’t know how I’ll survive.

Right now, it's not just food that has gone up, but fuel per liter has gone up again here. It seems like it's not enough to tell drivers not to drive cars so that they won't be affected by expensive fuel. Then, when it comes to food, it's enough to say that we people don't eat because of the price of the goods. But it's true what some say here: we need to find another way to earn money, not just one that knows how to budget but also one that increases the source of income apart from the job that we have.

That also happened in my country, but only in a few areas and it caused inflation of several percent nationally. Luckily in my area we don't experience drought, so food prices here are still maintained and people can still buy food affordably.
But the government's plan here is to distribute basic commodities from areas that are not affected by the drought to areas that are affected in order to reduce the effects of inflation, because with assistance from the government, distribution of basic commodities should be possible and that might help the people affected by the drought a little.

The only solution to overcome various economic problems such as rising prices or inflation and the like currently must be to have additional income. Although currently you can actually earn additional income from home, such as becoming a content creator or other online business. It's just that building an online business is not as easy as you imagine. This requires quite a long time and process. But it's worth fighting for. Meanwhile, finding additional work in physical work at this time I think is not easy. Due to current conditions, even the world of trading on the physical market is increasingly difficult. Because customers currently prefer shopping via online media.
And another condition is that the time we spend in our main job sometimes makes it difficult for us to find free time to use to find additional income.

But I have a feeling that the economy will at least recover a little from now on, even if it is slowly. At least that's my estimate in the country where I currently work. But I don't know the conditions in other countries which definitely have different situations and conditions.

I think that the government and society are not in sync in conveying their intentions, but currently society seems to be forced to be friendly with the increase in basic prices in particular, until now the concern is the increase in the price of rice which is our staple food, hopefully we will all always be given health so that we can work to fulfill our daily needs, because the long dry season has made many people sick at this time
It is difficult for small communities to reject the Government's decision to increase fuel costs, even though it is stated that there are wrong targets, deviations including gratification (corruption) must be sanctioned, and the Government must be responsible, not the people who are victims.

BLT is indeed good for helping small people, but BLT both adds to the burden on the APBN deficit, and many BLTs are also misdirected, the sanctions are not just being told to return them, that is Corruption, and is prone to Corruption. The lower class is resigned, even though they are given BLT, if subsidized fuel goes up, the price of everything goes up, it will still be a burden on the little people. I also agree that BLT is not effective in solving this problem. The government should increase labor wages and employee wages.

More offers will give us the opportunity to buy more, or buy things we don't really need.
Since there are several discount offers, we take them and find ourselves spending more.

I live in Indonesia and all the basic necessities have gone up, At the mall or supermarket it's usually cheaper or just a little different from the local grocery store.
Those from the grocery store also buy from the mall for resale.

The salaries of employees in some parts of Indonesia remain unincreased, while the staples have all gone up.
This will lead to economic inequality because the minimum wage is not evenly distributed and adjusted to the increase in staples.

In every country in this world, Only the strong will survive. We have to work hard and work smart to achieve our prosperity, the prices of basic commodities are rising, we are confused about how else to buy them, prices are getting more expensive, even though we are also among people who cannot afford it because there is economic inequality in several areas.

I also come from the same country as you. This economic inequality must always be discussed, before it gets worse. The problem is that in developed countries now the situation is very bad, many people cannot buy a house, eat from donations, some even cannot eat for days because their basic necessities have increased. Actually, this theory is easy if the government wants to overcome it by increasing the income of the Indonesian population. The method is industrialization, increasing employment opportunities by making it easier for foreign and local investors to create businesses, creating local entrepreneurs, intensive vocational education. Maybe this is what we should focus on first, while the government improves the quality of agriculture from east-west, improves the quality of farmer labor, improves national food sovereignty.

This problem is getting out of hand over here, it's very hard to save some money after getting your salary every month, you either spend it all on food or split it into food and house rent bills, it's getting out of hand for real, now I only eat twice daily, that's breakfast and supper, it used to be three foods per day around the clock but now, even food can turn you into a debtor if you are not careful, I don't think this is the same thing with many other countries because the situation of every countries divers from others. All we can hope for are better days and a better country, those who can't cope with the situation are traveling out of the country and I don't blame them.

You're talking of the reality that regardless of where you're living, the food prices really had gone too high.
I don't know the government can control all of these but it's a matter now that we're actually on our own and just survive in the wild.
I guess if the OPEC will start to do their own thing, the entire world reacts and whoever controls oil, controls the entire world and they can dictate prices of theirs for the commodities as it gives domino effect.

Since August in my country, the price of food, especially food staples such as wheat, rice and others, has experienced a very high price increase. This was apparently caused by the ongoing drought. Which makes several areas of plantations and rice fields fail to harvest due to lack of availability of water to water the plants. And this makes food stocks in the market start to run low from time to time. And yes, the price hike ensued. Rice prices here have even increased by around 9-10 percent in the last month in my area. And I'm afraid the increase will continue. Because many residents are starting to talk that if the drought continues longer then it is feared that the increase will occur higher and faster. For farmers, it can be said that currently they are getting big profits because they can sell agricultural products at high prices. but for ordinary citizens who do not have agricultural land, the current food prices really make them tight.

The residents' economic sector has actually begun to recover and improve in the past few months. But because at this time there was another spike in prices again, it made the people around me start to complain again about the current economy.

But I was wondering if this only happened in my country or in your country too?

Almost everything has been going up in my country for the last year - fuel, clothes, rent, etc. Of course, except salaries which have increased but nowhere near the same rate. It seems to be a worldwide problem with inflation right now and some countries are handling it better than others. Luckily in the last 2-3 months it feels like it has slowed back down again, especially when the government starts to take action against certain companies which are blatantly trying to price gouge at the expensive of the average person. Unfortunately it has never been a better time for monopolies to abuse their positions by raising prices and there are more of those around than ever.

Thats how life is just too damn hard and majority of us is already thinking up those partitions even we arent still able to get a hold of our salary on which those amounts are already divided or already bound to have those allocations when it comes to budgeting on which it is really just that hard to make out some adjustments if prices of goods and services do continue to rise which it would really be leading into those struggles on the time that you do recieve your salary and this is indeed fact the reality that we are facing which it is really that too damn hard. This is why it would be wise that you should be finding ways for having an additional income specially if you do have mouths to feed or even being a single would already be a challenge on sustaining yourself. Food prices here in our country does have that nonstop movement when it comes to price on which as a citizen then there's nothing you can do but to blend and go along with it and if you dont really be finding ways on increasing your income then expect that there would really be shortage on your budget which it would really be affecting your living. Not everything would really be blamed out on the government because there are really things which cant be controlled specially that inflation that we are all experiencing excluding into those countries
who do have less to none.

The case of Nigeria in this inflation saga is a peculiar one, peculiar in in the sense that the economy it is surrounded by a people in government that knows the solution to the economic downturn facing the country but decides to pay lips service to it. The government have practically refused to diversify the country's economy focusing and depending mainly on crude oil production for the sustainability of all sectors of the economy.
In the 50s, 60s and 70s Nigeria was well known for her agricultural productivity in all region's of the country there were groundnuts pyramid in the North , cocoa in the West and palm oil and fish production booming in exportable quantities but today all these are history. The agricultural produce are not sufficient to feed the citizens talk more of exporting, because the government has put all it's attention to crude oil since from the late part of the 70s when oil was discovered in the country.

China, Ukraine, India, Russia, USA and many other countries are not feeling the intensity of this global inflation brought by the covid-19 pandemic because they have a diversified economy cushioning the effects of inflation in prices of foodstuffs especially. But this can't be said of those countries that economies depends on one source for their GDP growth. When the price of a barrel of crude oil falls the GDP is nakedly affected, and that's not how an economy grows in this 21C.
