We often see the favorites losing certain games and matches, whether it's horse racing or any other sport. What we think is that something unfortunate happened and they lost, but who knows maybe it was fixed and we don't know it?

It's not unpopular just in here, the popularity of it has decreased over time in gambling in general. I am not certain why but it seems that other more appealing sports have just driven over it.
It used to be a thing and i remember my dad taking me to horse races, but at least i wouldn't be that interested to watch them run from tv. That would be just boring.

I am guessing that used to be more interesting when people still gathered together, and might be that people saw it as one of the sports that was harder to fix by mobs.
Also as people's awareness of animal rights is growing, they tend to watch less sports where animals are abused, or doped.

I read somewhere that the number of people gambling on horse racing has decreased over time because of a shift in interest toward other games offered by casinos. I can't recall the exact driving force, but I'm certain it's linked to the current lack of interest.

I've never played it myself, but I do watch it occasionally.

The popularity of sport will depends on your environment since what mostly introduce or what you is most provably the sports would provably catch your interest. Its just horse racing is not been introduce to us since the common sports we can see on free t.v is basketball,volleyball and football. Other than those sports is ignored by media since maybe their viewership is so low for covering horse racing and other not popular sports.

Horses themselves are not popular these days as they are not often seen, they were more popular during the polo game and I can't remember how popular that particular field game is now. But for horse race talking about the virtual side of it, it is in the place of casinos to increase the availability of horse games. Gamblers don't necessarily have to be interested with a particular game before it is made available because a gambler can easily try new games. So the casinos are to begin their own part to bring the horse race in our eyes by creating different bonuses for it.

I used to bet on horse racing before and it's really fun to watch and it's heart wrenching you actually see this horse run in front of you. Not really sure though, maybe it's the odds or the profit margin? Although in Middle East and Australia it's very popular, or maybe the notion that horse racing can be fix. After all, the jockey is the one controlling this magnificent animals and so if they will slack obviously the horse will not run faster.

The amount of bet when lose is painful too that’s why this sports is not that popular anymore since this is more on a hobby not the typical gambling race.

Not much. Today we can only see horse racing on TV. This is the age of cars already, not many horses but this seems to be a rich man's vice. Today only the rich men do have eyes for which horse might win or not. There was never a horse in my town. I couldn't remember if there ever was a local racehorse event in our city.

This sport is really indeed for the rich but speaking about being a bettor then we know that everyone could really be able to bet but this isnt something that could really be that same as popular comparing to Basketball or Football but it is indeed having that own market or set of fans or into those people who are engaged into it. We do know that this isnt really that a cheap sport for those people who are really that a fan of it but for me it is really that something not that interesting for any race type kind of betting. So far basing up and seeing into this forum then i dont see that much interest for horse racing but pretty sure on some market then it is something that have its own user base.

But it is worth considering a few main points why here on our forum this topic does not enjoy such active interest among forum users. 
First of all, as noted above, this is a fairly expensive sport and participation in it is available to very few people in general and forum users too, of course. 
Also, in order to show a sincere interest in this sport, you need to love animals, which is generally not typical for a very large number of people. 
And probably fans of this sport also need to be raised from early childhood by parents who themselves became interested in this type of sport, which of course should still be classified as an elite sport.  That is, it is actually distributed exclusively in limited groups of the population.  And for example, with people’s interest in football, where all the costs, the cost of equipment, is just the cost of a ball and a pair of goals with a net, or even withuut a net, it is simply impossible to compare. 
Therefore, the interest of users here on our forum is small. 
Therefore, the topics on this topic are quite short.

Horse racing is expensive, and there is no unavailability of horses but it is just the expenses that everyone can't bear that don't make everyone interested in taking part in the sport, and as said by someone earlier in this thread, it's not only about buying or raising a horse, you will need to take care of its diet, its training, and a bunch of other things if you want it to be able to compete in a horse racing competition because you can't just take a normal horse and go racing with it.

It's not just done in rural areas but it's done in the country sides in regions where there are fancy countries outside of the urban areas or the main city, and that is because horses are raised and kept in such places and the race tracks are also created there. You can barely find a horse racing track within an urbanized area.

Yeah you are correct, the popularity of sports totally depends on country or environment because people tend to focus more on the kind of sports they normally see and participate all there environment, for example were I come from horse racing does not attract people because it tend to be participated by the only people who has money and also with the belief that horse racing is risky that someone could easily get injured on the process.

So the dominant sports in my environment is soccer because of it popularity and it doesn't take much to start playing football, so however people tend to love more on the kind of sports they can even do themselves.

Not really applicable for some. Me for example. Cock fighting and basketball are very popular here but I don't know on why I'm not hook on them just like the majority of my country men?

People on your country are too sensitive. They aren't the ones who will ride the horse anyway in terms of betting and horse players are professional to get injured easily. The horses that they ride, the tracks, etc.. are also being checked to ensure that everything will run smoothly. And it is like any other sport in the betting scene where a small amount of money is acceptable.

People nowadays are more focused on what is trending, and horse racing isn't as popular as before, or at least in my country or in this forum, compared to other games. Sometimes, it's about familiarity and interests. I, myself, am not familiar with horse racing or interested in betting on it simply because I like other games more, like dice. Horse racing is just like cockfighting; it's only popular in some countries because it's part of their culture.

If you search it on good the result shows that its popular on certain country and US is included in the list maybe you didn't notice it there because the people near you is also not a horse racing fan. Horse racing is classic and up till now it still exist and for sure fans of this sports know some channels that covers the race.

 I strongly agree with you on this, that the popularity of sport depends on the environment, take for instance in country like India or the Pakistan the common and popular sport there is the cricket, people will want to bet on the sport they know best. Same applies to horse racing, countries like the Uk, Australia, Peru  Spain etc that accept the sport, they will probably be a platform where you can place your bet on your favorite horse. Horse racing has been there for quite some time now and betting usually goes down alongside with the game whether betting manually right there at the event or using gambling sites, some even do individual bets on which horse will finish the fastest.
