Actually China changed that rule a little bit and they can have more foreigners on a team now compared to some years ago. And yeah, Japan is also an option, but definitely not Taiwan. The league(s) in Taiwan are super small and are just a some sort of last resort for players. Trust me, I have lived there for 3 years and have watched so many games live, the quality is really low so I doubt they get paid well. The Japanese league, where I actually live, is also pretty weak but sometimes they get some good players because they have some money to spend since some teams are kinda corporate teams here. World cup qualifier window is soon so there are some preparation games now. Lithuania losing at home against Ukraine really disappointed, I watched that game and watched them missing so many free throws. Not sure that Taiwan is last resort for players. Look at Kenneth Faried who returned to Euroleague after Taiwan. And as I understand there is 2 or 3 different leagues there, not sure about level of each leagues. But maybe I got fooled about their level when Dwight Howard played there.

Kenneth Faried is like the worst example, haha. He played like 4 games, or even less cause Pana signed him out of need for a backup. Before that he played in Mexico and Puerto Rico and other places where careers are going to die. And Dwight Howard was really just a publicity stunt cause he didn't get a job somewhere else (for whatever reason). I actually saw him play live, in a game where he took at least 10 threes. Imagine that, Howard shooting threes. That tells you about the level.

Bonzie Colson has returned to Maccabi. In my opinion, he didn't provide enough scoring output during his two-year stint at Fenerbahçe. I had heard that Beşiktaş made him an offer, but he chose Maccabi instead and signed with them.
From what I can see, Asvel is building a strong roster. I think we will see a very different Asvel this year compared to previous seasons.
Asvel last season had the smallest budget of all teams and it was like they risked last season for this one to have a much bigger budget. They are currently going all out and getting serious players and if they continue like this i see them in top 6 clubs next season. A lot of teams currently are just signing players,my team Partizan still didnt sign a single player and we had like 4-5 players leaving already,im hope they start cooking soon because we need new players asap. Mate, is Partizan facing financial difficulties? There hasn't been any transfer news so far. They are losing strength with each passing year. A team from a country with such a strong basketball tradition—like Serbia—shouldn't be in this state. Partizan used to be one of the toughest places to play away games, but their squads have been weak in recent years. When Obradovic took over, I thought they were aiming for the EuroLeague title, but even he couldn't pull it off. They only won the ABA League twice—that's it.

Real Madrid surprises me! Having reached an agreement with Pedro Martinez for the coaching position, Real Madrid will pay current coach Sergio Scariolo a compensation fee of 3 million euros. I don't understand the logic behind this. In my opinion, Scariolo was a very successful coach. Presumably, a conflict arose between him and the Real Madrid management. It's a good thing Real Madrid didn't sign Ergin Ataman. Otherwise, they would have become champions next year.

Back to summer market: Real Madrid shocked me with news about signing coach Pedro Martinez from Valencia, they will pay 1 million buyout fee for Valencia. It's common thing to buy players from other clubs, but coach - it's something new for me. If you can beat him - just buy him. They didn't even announced about sack of Scariolo. In my opinion, Scariolo was a very successful coach. Presumably, a conflict arose between him and the Real Madrid management. It's a good thing Real Madrid didn't sign Ergin Ataman. In general yes, though mosty of his achievements is with national team, not with clubs. But main problem that Real had trophyless season and Florentino Perez just can't accept it.

Partizan dosent have any financial problems just maybe a smaller budget because Obradovic left and because of some other things but i think that we are doing this each year the same thing. Always waiting late either to grab nba players that drop from some teams or find good free players. We were aiming to win it we really wanted to win it with Obradovic and that year if we didnt lose to Real Madrid in the playoffs we probobly would have won the euroleague, after that everything went sideways

If I were a basketball player, I would certainly want him as my coach. The way he spreads his arms wide and turns bright red while dressing down his players only adds to his charisma. He will likely achieve great things with Pana next season, too; we haven't seen him in a championship-contending environment for a long time.

The problem in Partizan were the players, especially foreign ones that started to go against him. Partizan fans wanted to fire all the players and just leave Obradovic to make an entire new team, because thats how much he means for us. When he left some of the fans gave up on the games and it was a big hit for us. Now he is gone and i think we need to focus going forward and try and reach the playoffs this season we just need it.

The award for the respected coach I would still give Greg Popovich to be honest. But yeah no question the Želimir Obradovich is a great coach with a lot of accolades, that's for sure. Anyway, about coaches, after a long and also dirt back and forth with Brose Bamberg Bayern Munich has signed Bamberg's former coach former German national Anton Gavel. Bamberg had a great last season and since Pesic ended his coaching career in Munich after last season they desperately tried to get Gavel. Gavel though had a contract with Bamberg and Bayern even advised him to fight to contract and it's legality because it was signed online, pretty ridiculous and yet another reason for most German fans to hate Bayern. They do the same shit they always do in football so it seems, straight up dirt!

He started early in his career and won in his first season as a coach the euroleague title and that was with Partizan. Now he holds the record by far for the most trophies in euroleague and i doubt that anyone can catch up to him, plus now with taking Panata and getting an unlimited budget i think he can win again. Bayern Munich is just a team for 10-14 position in the euroleague and now one can help them because their budget is below avg always and thats why not a single coach can help them. I think they need to increase the budget so they can try and get to the playoffs.

2022/23 season was great - ABA league title, plus being so close from Final 4. But next seasons were meh and IMO it's not Obradovic fault. I think main problem was lack of strong local players with big role. When Partizan had best season, they had strong core of local players like Abramovic, Koprivica, Smailagic, plus good foreign players. Now almost all their main players is foreigners and I think it's not good thing, Partizan had no identity. Can't wait to see what he will do with Panathinaikos.

EuroLeague viewership is set to grow now that Beşiktaş are back. Efforts to build a competitive team have begun. Contracts have been signed with Scottie Wilbekin and Metecan Birsen. Wilbekin plays under Turkish status. So these were very good moves for the rotation. An agreement had already been reached with Furkan Korkmaz. I don't have high expectations for him, but he could still make a contribution even if he gets limited playing time. After all there will be a lot of games next season. And the last, an agreement was reached with Mady Sissoko from Real Madrid. I think he's a great choice for the frontcourt rotation. Beşiktaş have parted ways with Sertaç Şanlı. Beşiktaş need to make 3-4 more high-level signings.

If Bayern wanted they can blow up the budget like crazy. It's one of the richest clubs in the world with a good financial standing, unlike other big clubs in Europe ( Real Madrid, Barcelona, Turkish teams and so on). If they decided they want a top 4 team and spend the money for it they would do it. But since the people behind the club are smart business men (that's why you never see the team in trouble) I guess that's not gonna happen. Basketball is still just a passion project for them.

It is impossible for them to succeed in the EuroLeague with the players they have signed. Furkan Korkmaz played for Tofaş last year, but in my opinion, he was a far cry from his old self. They acquired Metecan and sent Sertaç to Fenerbahçe. How many games has Wilbekin actually played in recent years? I have no information about Sissoko, but I don't think this roster is good enough. Beşiktaş won't be able to escape the bottom of the standings.

The problem is they just dont want to waste money and try and do something big like they are doing in football, they just have a normal budget or below avg in the euroleague. I think they can get a bigger budget and try and get some big players, but each year is the same story they always have some solid players but can never get any big players or they just dont care about them. This is the reason why they will never reach the playoffs or do something big,so they will always be an avg club in the euroleague.

New ones are coming in to replace them. 2 more transfers were announced today. An agreement was reached with Omoruyi for the frontcourt rotation. That's a very good signing. He's a EuroLeague level player. It looks like DeJulius is coming in at point guard as well. The team will sign one more shooting guard and a small forward preferably better than Brown. Another big man will also be signed. Right now, it looks like the roster is set at 11 players, so at least 4 more signings are needed. Starting the season with 15 solid players is essential to handle the intense game schedule. Beşiktaş's goal for the first season isn't to reach the top of the play-off anyway, it's enough for them to remain in a playoff-contending position until the last weeks. There aren't any big expectations. But to predict the league's final standings before the roster is even set and before any games have been played is ridiculous and to put it mildly ignorant.

I also think Omoruyi is a good player. I have no idea about DeJuluis. Do you happen to know what kind of budget our team has allocated, my friend? We didn't really need Wilbekin when we already had Devon Dotson. I just hope Wilbekin doesn't disrupt the team dynamic now that Dotson is here. I was sad to see Mathews leave. He had a dream of playing in the EuroLeague, and he would have been very useful to us. I’m expecting our management to make 2 or 3 more high-quality signings. Metecan would be particularly useful in our domestic league. I also didn't like the fact that Yiğit Arslan left; he would have been an asset to us in our own league.

World Cup qualifiers continues and Lithuania again lost to Italy. We had 13 points lead with 5 minutes remaining, but then we lost remaining time 22:6. Unbeleavable, we already lost against Iceland in exactly same way. Considering that in next round we will be in same group with Serbia, Turkey and Bosnia, I see no chance for us to qualify to World Cup. Another interesting results - Gergia beats Spain after making comeback from -15 in 4th quarter.

Seeing results like this you often makes you wonder if these guys are for real. I mean how can this happen? Giving up huge leads in the final quarter is just dumb basketball, plain and simple. 15 point favorite Greece also lost by a whopping 15 points at home against Portugal, scoring only 56 points in the process, wtf is going on here? How can odds makers be wrong by 30 points? hahaha Basketball really is crazy and strange sometimes, to say the least.

It has been so much fun to follow the FIBA World Cup qualifiers as a Turkish fan. We have completed the group stage with 6 wins in 6 matches. If Serbia had Jokic from the beginning things might have been more different for us though. When it comes to Greece they are really horrible without Giannis. But they are still abnormally bad now really. They could have nearly been eliminated in group stage already. There are some other solid names I don't see in their roster currently too by the way.
