From my view both are the same due to the high risk involved, the only difference here is the learning process. Everyone here can decide to gamble without stressing the learning process, I don't even need to learn about gambling before I start practicing the act cause gambling have zero skills and surprising gamble at first time looks interesting cause I see newly gamblers getting excited and all that. I have also experienced this before, while trading Bitcoin in the short term. instead of being able to get more bitcoins, they only reduce their bitcoin holdings. apart from fees, it also occurs due to a lack of knowledge of when to enter and exit a trade.
