Not keeping records doesn't necessarily mean that you are a bad gambler. Sometimes players are too busy to have one and just mentally note their winnings and losses as well as the money they have spend in gambling in totality. Although for sure there are still people who are keeping tracks of their gambling habits which is good for them especially if it works significantly better on their end. But it doesn't mean you should do too. It still depends on you after all.

But a piece of advice, if you don't want or you can't seem to keep records because of extra work it will give to you, just make sure you allocate a specific amount that won't break your budget and your priorities in life. Only allocating your spare and not going overboard your budget will be as good as keeping records because that means you are only spending what you can afford to lose without regretting so much in the end if it doesn't go well.

Good day crypto Famz, I will like to ask gamblers this question, is there any gamblers on here that keeps record of their wins and losses? Do you keep a record of all the pennies you use to gamble and also the result?
In the past I do keeping records to know my financial expenses , but overtime since I know how limit my self? I stopped tracking my gambling money but I made sure that my budget will be keep and yes that is the amount I keep spending.
Quote
Someone whom we both have this discuss yesterday said this is a good practice, I still don't see a reason why because I don't keep record of my losses, I tend to only remember when I win a certain amount, if its good enough you won't easily forget, but apart from this I don't care.
actually this shows how responsible the person is and how that person knows how to balance and limit his fundings that is why he said this is a best practice.
Quote
So Famz, is there any benefits when one keeps record on their losses and wins? Is there any thing to gain when you write down all the money you spent in gambling and also how much you have made so far?

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?
nope this will never make you a Bad gambler but when you turn to be addicted , then that is completely the bad gambler.

This makes sense. It wont hurt if a gambler try to start kerping their records, right? It's not a big deal, really. Give it a shot for a month or even longer and then decide if it's worth continuing. I did it with my transactions and it actually helped me stay organized. But hey if you believe you've got your limits under control and don't need it, that's totally fine. Keeping records doesn't define whether you're a good or bad gambler. For irresponsible gamblers, not keeping track can lead to problems. So, it's just a simple tool to help you stay on top of things so you can know yourself better on how you manage. No pressure, just a suggestion to make things a bit smoother for you Smiley

I'd never done it actually and I don't think it helps us to be good gamblers or turn into bad gamblers as well. The more I saw my gambling records, the more possible I was disappointed. I'd rather not do it for the sake that I don't remember in the past days.

Good advice mate...it is very important we know how to budget not just our money but also our time because the more we spend time on this, the more we spend money which could possibly be out of our budget.
Well, the question is are we just playing to entertain ourselves or just to make money? Because if we aim for the fist option, then I don't think it is necessary to have a records.

I don't think you can be called a bad gambler if you don't record your losses and wins here.
If it's just entertainment for you, you don't need to record it. I also don't record my gambling losses and wins because for me I don't need to record them because I'm not good at gambling either and I can only see the money I lose growing. If you enjoy it and control yourself when it comes to gambling, I don't think there is a problem. I think that's only for serious gamblers and professionals who keep track of their winnings and losses so they know if what they've been doing lately is good.

Allocating specific amounts and not to exceed or prevent not to exceed will keep you safe from being an excessive gambler. Addiction also can
be avoided if you know what is your limit and you fully understand that you needed to stop.

Not keeping your records if you are playing just for the sake of entertainment for me is just fine. There's no wrong if you just play and go after.

Though there are people who love monitoring their money, both win and lose. They are balancing the amount of that moving
money while playing with the game or gambling game that they are involved with.

I think that's only for serious gamblers and professionals who keep track of their winnings and losses so they know if what they've been doing lately is good.

It can be said that it is bad and it can also be said that it is not bad, and in my opinion it goes back to how they respond to gambling, if indeed they gamble with just looking for entertainment and fun then I agree with you, it doesn't matter if and not record and calculate all the money lost and won. But if they come with the purpose of earning income like those who are already addicted then I think this calculation record is very important, this will be very useful to help you realize that the money you have spent is too big and it's time for you to stop and rest so that the situation does not get worse.

I think that even if you are firm in your own mind in gambling which means gambling just for fun I think there is nothing wrong if you occasionally do a calculation on the amount of your losses, because the situation is always difficult to guess, especially if you are very busy gambling then you can unconsciously continue to pour your money into the casino because you want the fun to continue even though it is not the victory that you prioritize. So in these two conditions I think the calculation can still be said to be quite important.

It really depends on the type of gambler and both are acceptable because what matters is how we gamble responsibly which means knowing our limits.

I do not have a track of my settings as well but I would love to do it if I have enough time. Maybe I will do it yearly. I am mostly into NBA bets so I also have plans to record my bets per NBA season. Losing is no big deal since I don't have huge bets but it would be cool to see if I am indeed winning. Making a record as well will make our bets and analysis more serious since there is a challenge to have a good track record. But as you said, this is just optional and should only be done if we have a lot of vacant hours.

You mean record like excel or history? No, I don't do that. If you are a gambler that bets on food sportsbooks and casino, they should have history of all your bets there, you can used that to track all your won and loss bets from there. All casino should have that because that's where they go check when you encounter any problem with your bets.

His decision and his way of betting but I have ways of keeping up with my gambling life. Every month, I take a survey of my deposit and withdrawals, when I check and observed that amount deposited is bigger than the amount I withdraw for that month, it shows that I had a bad month of gambling, when withdrawal is slightly greater than the deposit, then I will know that I didn't do much but when my withdrawal is larger or twice my deposit, then that gives me the impression that I had a good month of gambling.

While this sometimes are beyond my control because gambling will always be gambling, I think sometimes even if you keep the record, there is no way gambling earning will give you much like that, gambling is not an income or capital appreciating scheme. So enjoy the fun and gamble responsible.

That's right, these records are optional because this is not actually a requirement to be a good gambler. Depends on each person. If it is needed for money management, of course it will make it easier to record his cash flows. However, having records can have an negative impact on psychological for some, let's say, when you see big amounts of losses from gambling, what will you do? If it doesn't threaten him to break his limit and can make him stop gamble, of course that's no problem. What is worrying is, that the emotion of seeing a large margin of loss makes him gamble beyond the limit.

Plus if you're not a person who gambles regularly, then there's probably no need to record everything. BUT if you're a person who gambles just for entertainment, AND also gambles regulary, then as "gambler" I believe it's your responsibility to keep some records of how much of your monthly salary is going to the casino. It will probably help BlackJack players and sports bettors the most because it could possibly make them better at what they do, but for casino game players, it will merely help them lose a lesser amount of money because the house always has the edge against them.

If it's about trading, then I will definitely keep records on it so I will know which trades need to be improved and which strategies will work for long term. But it's different in gambling, even if you keep records of your wins and losses, that will not change the fact that gambling outcome is very unpredictable and if you don't have the luck and the skills, you will continue to suffer from losses. As gambling is to lose, then it's hard to win when you are beating the house that is always supposed to win.

This is why I don't keep records in gambling. And whatever the amount I have on hand, once I decide it to gamble, I make sure that I'm comfortable even losing all of it. Gambling is mostly pure luck and chances, so I have to accept that it's hard to win in gambling if you don't have what it takes to win.

Account keeping is good because of it benefit which is to let you know how much you are spending and how much you are also receiving like income and expenditure.

Regards to gambling, it is also a good practice but it is difficult to keep for someone who bet always, not just a daily bettor but someone who bet numerous times in a day like an addict. If you are someone who bet from time to time then you may want to keep the record to see how much you have spent and whether you actually made profit to continue or not. At a point when I was betting on a daily, I tried keeping such records but it is not easy to do.

I would say OP have the records but he don't know it let me explain.

To keep records about your gambling sessions, you don't need to focus on how much you win or lose with your bets, you can focus and the Deposits and Widrawals, and you can get that information on any casino where you are gambling. Just take that data and do the right math you will know if you are in profit or in a hole.

But i don't think something like this can make you a bad gambler, in the end gambling is about having fun.

Nah, it's hard to record the number of wins and losses, unless you bet on a online platform. But if you go to land case casinos, then there's no way you can track of everything. On the other hand, why do we really need to know though? I'm just curious. Because for me, if you gamble and that money is allotted for that, then win or lose, that is going to be ok.

Someone whom we both have this discuss yesterday said this is a good practice, I still don't see a reason why because I don't keep record of my losses, I tend to only remember when I win a certain amount, if its good enough you won't easily forget, but apart from this I don't care.

Yes, same for me, I just have some numbers in my head, but I don't really jotted down everything in a log or notepad or something.

So Famz, is there any benefits when one keeps record on their losses and wins? Is there any thing to gain when you write down all the money you spent in gambling and also how much you have made so far?

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?

Perhaps if he had records though, maybe it's one reason why he will quit specially if he see the records and he is losing big amount of money. Something to pounder upon maybe when you are alone and think that maybe it's time to really stop this gambling for good.
You get it, I think to myself that if I start keeping record that's a reason to quit gambling someday because I can easily start thinking that I am wasting money on gambling, and now I am starting to like gambling even more, mind you I don't use money that I can't afford to lose.

I think that this could be a cool way to battle gambling addiction, if someone start writing the entire money they use on gambling down somewhere they can wake the hell up and decide to call it a quit, it's definitely going to look stupid for playing all along, the only difference for me is I use very small amount.

Even if I keep record for months I doubt it will reach $80 in two to three months because I don't do this everytime, I prefer gambling when I have the extra money, that's after doing all the necessary bills in the house, for Netflix and data subscription and others.

Yes writing the record of your deposit and withdrawal is a good way to take a check on yourself to keep playing or not but I don't think it is for the addicts. An addict won't have that mindset to go that way because he is still engrossed to keep trying to win but anything that leads him to start going for records on his activities on gambling then that means he is near to quitting the addiction because he probably would see his losses and that may discourage him from playing persistently or quitting eventually.

In my opinion me as a gambler previous gambling records say what I was. Previous record show me my improvement what I was before vs I am now. Records show me my improvements in gambling. That motivate me to give more dedication in gambling sector. It's not bad to keep old gabbling record because old gambling record show us that how much nonprofessional we all are before. The all records are just a memory and a journey that we started from don't know anything to now. So keeping all records are memories for me. I always keep my records of every gambling because my  records show me that I am improving myself before I was.

If you don't keep your all gambling records fully depend on you that not mean that you are a not a good gambler. It's your own choice that you don't want to keep your all records of gambling. That don't mean that you are not a good gambler you experience prove that you are a good gambler or not.

But if you keep a record on your gambling activity then it is likely to turn into a long term record, added to the fact we all know, that in the long term the house or the casino will win over gamblers.
So would not better just to go along with the stream and enjoy your sessions without having to worried about whether you are on the green or the red?

Keeping a record on your gambling history does not have anything to do with being a better or worse gambler. Gambling is all about luck, so in the end a record will only tell you how lucky our unlucky you have been in previous times.

I wouldn't necessarily call someone whom doesn't keep their records a "bad gambler" , but I sure don't think it's a very smart thing to do.  I typically just play online gambling with the same couple casinos, so they tend to keep a ledger of your winnings/losings and for me that it good enough. I typically just analyze it once a year.  If I'm up for the year I'm happy, if I'm down, I might be a bit more cautious the next year.

Good day crypto Famz, I will like to ask gamblers this question, is there any gamblers on here that keeps record of their wins and losses? Do you keep a record of all the pennies you use to gamble and also the result?

Is there even a need for one to keep such records? I don't see any reason for me to start doing that because I don't give financial records or statements to anyone based on my gambling activities.

But given this second lesson, there is really a need for anyone who gambles frequently to keep this kind of record, as this might help them reflect on how they gamble, as many people might consider gambling a business, so with such a record, you can be able to determine if you are spending more than you expect on gambling and losing more than you have put in, which can either be used to reduce someone's gambling activities or increase them, although without even booking this down on a note, one can always go back to the gambling site and get the bet history, unless those casinos only allow users to view up to a certain period.

It is only a professional gambler who has taken on gambling as a career that would keep records. For me I think the reason why such a person would keep record is one to keep track of their profits and losses, for tax purposes, and maybe any other reason. Regular gamblers like you and I do not keep any record because we see no importance in doing so. But we will not fail to recall our losses and wins if there is ever a need for that during a conversation.
