Not keeping records makes me a bad gambler?

I don’t keep records of my gambling stats, I’m too lazy to be honest and I gamble for fun, to make games and tournaments more interesting. I am not gambling in desperation for additional income.

If gamblers keeps recored then their gambling will be under control and they will use money which will be limited but if they don't keep record then there is a probability that they will be addicted to gambling. Without keeping record you cannot realize your win or loss percentage and if you loss for five times and win for just one time then you will be happy for a single win but will not realize that five times loss are more and single win is unable to cover this loss.

I think that if everyone keeps record of their gambling then a day will come when they will not be more a participant of gambling because all individuals has Loss percentage more than win percentage. I am not a gambler but I think I can still give you a good advice. It's really a good idea and I would say, it's necessary, to record your financial activities. You have to know how much money you deposit to gamble and how much you get back. If you track that, it will help you to understand whether your gambling turns into addiction or not because sometimes you really gamble for fun and start with that idea and you don't realize that you deposit more, gamble more, get back less and that's where the addiction starts. So, yeah, you should really keep records. Whether you are a bad gambler or good one, that has nothing to do with it.

and besides, do you really think some are really doing this tedious task? yes, we know, there are some benefits of doing so however, for me, i think no one can consistently do the recording of all his bets. for me, this task is not sustainable. you may be excited it in the first few months, but later on, it will be a burden for you.
the more sustainable approach would be to spend what you can afford to lose in every bet you want to make. so you have no worries if you will win or lose with your bets.

Keeping records do not really help because at first you will think you could possibly recover all your losses but with time you will understand that gambling doesn't work they way, they most times cause you to want to further chase losses which may aswell lead to further loss.

That's not necessarily true because there are people who gamble just for fun and don't keep a record of their wins or losses.

Sincerely speaking, I take gambling as the list of what I do,  and at the same time,  I only gamble for entertainment and nothing more,  this is why I have almost set up the time that I gamble and how much I gamble with each week,  and this has helped me a lot in recent time to be able to deal with a lot of things that would have ordinarily been a drawback to me in the long run,  this is why I have realized the fact that anything outside your set limit is a no go area,  I don't have a P. A but I use my device as my P. A reason is that I can easily set whatever limits in gambling just from my phone,  and sometimes,  I see that my phone will go off if I exceed my set time by just 1 second,  so that is why,  at times I see myself winning so much in a game but then if I exceed that set time and I didn't close down before that time,  I may get locked out and I may lose the game at the end.

That is why, sometimes I always try to close all my games opening before anything that will make me exceed that set time and at what space.

But the essence of keeping records or tracking losses and wins is a good thing for me. Why? Business-minded, do you want to know where your money goes? How much money have you made or lost? No right? Keeping records will keep you aware of what's happening in your capital; you will see if you are gaining or not. It's not about feeling sad or having regrets about your losses; it's about how you will manage your money. Maybe for some people, they don't care about the history or record of their gambling, but for others, they do this practice to handle their money and efficiently see how well they do in gambling. I do believe though that making a record for sports betting is acceptable because it means we are tracking down how teams behave in winning against one team and another. Comparisons. Somehow that could help us increase the winning rate on our next bet for the team if ever they face the same opponent one more time.
I don't do that but it might actually work that way.
Sports is not that much unpredictable especially if a team consists of super players. But there are rivalries that could make them lose to one specific team because they know their weakness.
If we could somehow spot that thanks to the spreadsheet that was created, then it would help us avoid betting for the favorite team at that one game or just bet on the opponent instead if we cannot really live one day without making a bet.
But in casino games, this won't work, imho. Just imagining how many bets we are making per day will us faint on recording them all, plus the losses, like you said. It will just hurt our feelings.

A good and simple record can be done through an excel sheet, because it can be a great way to do better things to keep track of it and this converts everyone to do something much better when it comes to detailed control , except that it is very difficult to record everything because you can intuit to do your best to become more exact and to show on the side or as an observation the possible cause of why it was lost or why it was won, and to keep track of it. The same argument could be said about record keeping in general and yet people do it despite the fact that most of the time what we end up recording are negative things, so why do it? Humans do this not because we like record keeping in general, a thing that in fact seems that we like, however we do so because it is useful as it allows us to see what we did wrong and then improve upon our mistakes, and while this is difficult to do while we gamble, there are a few gamblers out there which can do this and become professional thanks to it.

That's how I see it too. People who lose more than they win will not want to see these statistics anyway. What about people who gamble very little for fun. Is holding such stats where it says that you gambled away $50 last month change anything, when your monthly income is $3k?
IMO stats are for people who really want to make money and their gambling journey is focused on that. I doubt that your average slots player who does a few rolls on his way from work home cares if they won %10 today or lost $5.

In order to control something, you need to measure it.

If you want to realize how much you are gambling, you need to somehow keep track of the money coming in and out from that activity.

Whatever gets measured, can be controlled. If you don't measure it, chances are you are spending more than what you think.

That's true, when I win, I tend to gamble more until I think that I've got less profit by that time and will secure that. Realization comes at the end when we gamble and with little profit that's left, that's what stopping us for that day.
